Hugo Chavez
In 1998 I investigated Hugo Chavez for the intelligence community.I later wrote an article for the ABA's National Security Report on Latin America threats to US security.
Hugo Chavez is the greatest threat the USA has today. He has permitted FARC to have 150 operatives in the Gran Melia in Sabanda Grande in Caracas. He has permitted A-Q to train on the Isle of Margarita. There are Iranian nuclear engineers at the IVIC facility(Venezuelan nuclear facility).The Chinese have completed a railway in Venezuela and are building new port facilities and Chavez sends Castro millions and 60,000 barrels of oil a day. Cuban intelligence runs the Venezuelan Intelligence Service --DISIP, Cubans run the military and all of Chavez' counterintelligence, bodyguards and his political campaigns.
Trying to convince our policy makers to do something has been all but impossible.
Chavez is not just a new Marxist, he's an America hater. Even though he is funding labor unions in Panama, student groups in all Latin America and even funds unhappy Mexican Army officers his real goal is to destroy the USA. He will do it with a covert attack or assistance to a terrorist group.
He wants to go down in history as the man who destroyed America. He has made secret and overt agreemenst with Iran, Syria and has spent 3 billion on Russian arms. He is considering to let Iranians mine uranium in the jungles of Venezuela.He has just purchased from China a satellite system that could hamper our command and control systems .He catres nothing about the Venezuelan people. In November he plans to run for President for llife. In the last election he won democratically-Jimmy Carter even sanctioned the election and received a 2 million dollar gift from Chavez(in this country we would call this a bribe).
Chavez is not just another leftist or Marxist(I doubt if he ever read a book on Marx). He has made it clear he wants America's destruction.
When we attack Iran he plans to deliver something to us-eith an oil embargo or something possibly worse.
