Iran Backing Down?

The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, came to power by appealing to the poorest Iranians with a class warfare message (isn't that interesting). Since he has become president, however, Ahamadinejad has done an effective job of destroying the Iranian economy, and the elite in Tehran are not pleased.The elites in Iran may not allow the situtation between Iran and the West to continue to disintegrate.
Today I hear that not all of the Mullas in Iran are behind Ahmadinejad and his religious fervor to bring on Islam's armageddon and 12th Imam. Iran reformist cleric criticizes nuclear diplomacy
A leading Iranian reformist cleric has implicitly criticized President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's stance in the nuclear standoff, insisting Iran's dossier must be prevented from referral to the UN Security Council, AFP reported.
"We should have a strong diplomacy, avoid making unwise remarks that would further complicate the issue, build confidence and boost cooperation," the Tehran Times Wednesday quoted Mehdi Karrubi as saying."We should not allow the Iranian nuclear issue to be referred to the Security Council," the former parliament speaker said.
"I am sure that sanctions will lead to great difficulties. I hope that the issue will be solved through negotiations". ...
Several moderate and reformist figures such as the former president Mohammad Khatami have criticized Ahmadinejad's diplomacy, which has triggered threats of the isolation of Iran,. source
This sounds like good news, but I wouldn't count on these few to change Ahmadinejad's mind.
