Jim Gilchrist of the Minuteman Project may run for president for the constitution party. Yes, the CONSTITUTION party. Never heard of it? I have listed several other bloggers who are also covering this exciting news. What is the Constitution party? Whas it Gilchrist's biography? What are his beliefs on topics other than immigration? This will certainly be a hot topic among conservatives.
Jim Gilchrist, founder of the Minuteman Project, is considering a run for president in 2008 representing the Constitution Party.Gilchrist has just returned from Florida where he met with the party's national committee.
Chairman James Clymer told WorldNetDaily the party was excited about the possibility of Gilchrist as its marquis candidate.
"Yes, indeed, we are interested," Clymer said. "Gilchrist spoke to us last weekend in Tampa and our people asked Jim then if he would be the candidate. We think it would be wonderful if Jim Gilchrist would seriously consider being our presidential candidate." source

Everyone's talking about this whole "Day Without Immigrants" and how it's going to prove to be a drag on our economy so we know how important it is that these immigrants are here. (Never mind the fact that they're only here because of the economy. But I get their point - our economy is better because of them.) Go read it all here

Poor things! The illegal invaders had a bit of a scare in Montgomery County, Maryland. From the April 30, 2006 Washington Post item "Montgomery Schools: Immigrant Students Reassured":"The Montgomery County school system is urging students to go to school [May 1], disputing rumors that undocumented immigrants would be arrested if they do. I am obviously really glad that Jim Gilchrist is not even close to being able to win an election at the State or Federal Level. After his failed gig with "endorsing Mike Huckabee" I completely lost all faith in him being an actual leader or even a powerless figurehead for the anti-illegal immigration movement. I think the only people he sues are Americans, after seeing the latest attempts by Stephen Eichler and Jim Gilchrist to silence people that disagree with him. I also noticed that Stephen Eichler is associated through that IFPnetwork.com and Asset Protection Group, Inc. out of Nevada that just got slapped in the face by the Department of Justice. It definitely might be time to establish a new powerless figurehead for the movement and its PR attempts.
