Thomas Hamilton

I am skeptical about this. Since the 1960's we have been way ahead of the Russians technologically. In fact their main strategy for winning a shooting air war against the west during the cold war was by deploying overwhelming numbers of inferior aircraft thereby defeating superior technology by sheer numbers. (Kinda like we won the tank battle against Hitler in WW2. The Sherman tank was vastly inferior to anything the Nazis had.)

If such plasma technology does exist I cannot believe that we know nothing about it or how to counter it.

Furthermore, part of the reason that the Soviet Union collapsed was that they could no longer fund their military machine against superior technology, particularly "Star Wars" missle defense proposed by Ronald Reagan. I would think that any kind of stealth technology would be very expensive (last I heard a B2 bomber costs about a billion bucks each) and I cannot see the Russians being financially able to deploy such technology to any effective degree.

I'll keep watching and listening.

thomas hamilton is a full he is not aware of the russian military superiority ,the americans had never been more technologically advanced

This is rubbish in my opinion. Secondly I very much agree with Thomas above.

Plasma coating and this technology are not new, said technology was being fielded in the mid 80's.
It is not proven nor is it reliable. Plasma in a high static environment such as rain storm / thunder storm would only amplify a signal. The TU-160 creates so much atmospheric turbulence and sound disturbance regardless of its RCS being cancelled out. The first two would lead to its detection, the later is insignificant of the three unless you neutralize sound waves and atmospheric sine waves.

In my opinion Putin wants to try and show he was the man who brought back a Strong Russia, it appears to be nothing more than smoke and mirrors in a political game. On that end USAF plays along with the larger objective of helping Russia with a power projection. What is the trade off? Russian turns a blind eye to Iran? allows an attack on Bushir? Allows Missile defense in Russias back yard? possibilites are endless the speculation is absurd.

What Thomas Hamilton wrote is a piece of ignorant crap. Russian fighters have always been better than American. I don't know how can anyone with a little bit of objective air industry knowledge write something like TH wrote. Being a fanboy is so easy today.

pm

russia is right. Bush is a threat to life on this planet.

Is it a problem that Russia has something we don't have in military tech? That's not surprising, ever since the end of WW2, Soviet/Russian has always been on top.

Russia's main strategy for winning an air war was building overwhelming numbers of fighters with overwhelming technology. The ORIGINAL MiG-29 can beat out any American fighter except perhaps the F-22. The current MiG-29SMT-3 is a huge technological advancement since the original MiG-29. That's just MiG-29, completely disregarding other fighters like MiG-31, MiG-35, Su-30 family, Su-27SM, Su-35, Su-35BM, etc. In Cope India, Indian Mirage-2000, MiG-29, and Su-30MKI all beat out F-15, America's frontline superiority fighter. Getting beat out by an old French plane.. just what we needed.

One note, TH.. B-2 Spirit costs 2.2 billion USD a piece.

It is one thing to beat up some third world countries with horrible miitary leadership. The f-22 is going to sweep the skies...rubbish.Aircraft carriers are floating giant coffins and any attempt to defend tem with Aegis platforms etc. again will work against a third world country. When push comes to shove, do you really think China will stand by and allow gunboat diplomacy in its back yard? Fact is a sudden massive attack with hundreds of perhaps even hypersonic anti ship missiles will annihilate carriers. THey are expensive dinosaurs again good for intimidating little backward countries. Remember, when everyone else was living in caves China was a superadvanced civilization. No one of the major nations is going to cower at Americas nuclear arsenal, they have tem too, thousands of them. I can really see the U.S. risking total destruction over Taiwan....not! In a real war, does anylone think the adversary will sit by and watch the U.S. build a base to launch war as happened in Kuwait? The Iraqis like theSyrians are idiots. The U.S. will not enjoy the luxury of such stupidy against Russia or China who as I understand it have a tacit agreement for mutual defense against any foe. Also, if you believe the Russians left Afghanistan because they lost a few helicopters you really are an idiot. They could have simply exterminated the whole place, but the operation was not of enough value and they too experienced a population that no longer was willing to support this adventure. I hind sight, they now may wish they would have just crispy crittered the whole Mujahadeen rag head population. And guess who had to go there and fight the same Mujahadeen who were spreading their Islamic fundamentalist terrorism into Russia. Another apocalyptic war is coming, soon and it will be over water and other resources. I believe countless millions will die and no nation will be immune from the insanity. I know the military touts their supermen, but they exist really only in comic books.

lol russian better than american planes, its funny cuz the su-27 engines or powerplant was stolen from US technology, wuts even more interesting is that the SR-71 was shot at 4000 times in attempts by the soviet union, they cudnt even catch up with US for stars wars how can they make this plasma tech, more like propaganda

RW

WE, THE U.S. ARE NOT FINANCIALLY ABLE TO DO ANY OF THIS. PERIOD. IT'S ALL DEFICIT SPENDING, AND A MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX RUN RAMPANT.

$1 TRILLION IN DEFENSE RELATED SPENDING EVERY YEAR. AN ESTIMATED 3/4 OF A TRILLION DIRECTLY IN THE DoD FISCAL BUDGET. NOT TO MENTION THE BLACK BUDGET WHICH RANGES IN THE TRILLIONS, AND WHICH NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT. THE BLACK BUDGET IS NEED TO KNOW, UNCONVENTIONAL, AND ONLY HUNDREDS KNOW ABOUT IT/ARE INVOLVED IN IT.

WE HAVE NOT HEEDED PRESIDENT DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER'S MESSAGE IN HIS FAREWELL ADDRESS.

Awesome topic thanks! for the blog post

See I am convincied that the Rusians have devolped Plasma Stealth. More over from always russians spent less but effectively on there defence equipment. they always want to go for a viable and cost effective solution to the problems.
