The autopsy of Abu Musab al Zarqawi was finished yesterday and the full report was being released this morning. Two forensic experts were flown in to perform the autopsy.
The bombing took place at 6:12 p.m. and Zarqawi was pronounced dead at 7:04 p.m., 24 minutes after coalition forces arrived. It is believed that internal injuries resulting from the bombing were the cause of death.
There were NO coalition forces on the ground at the site prior to 7:04 p.m. Some reporters suggested that 'eye witnesses' had seen American
soldiers at the site and also helicopters at the site prior to the
bombing.
Standard forensic autopsy was performed on both Zarqawi and Sheik Abdu-Rahman.
Dr. Jones reporting: Injuries sustained by Zarqawi: Non displaced fracture of left arm, multiple abrasions and bruises of arm, legs and head. Bleeding in the middle ear on both sides. Several injuries to both lungs. "Blast damage" not seen on the outside of the bodies was obvious on autopsy. Zarqawi was most likely thrown against something as a result of the blast and flying debris. Zarqawi was in the house at the time of the bombing.
There were NO firearms injuries found and NO evidence of any beating.
Rahman: Fracture of left arm, extensive bleeding from head injuries around the scalp and brain, laceration of the liver, secondary and tertiary blast damage. Death was instantaneous. Shock wave blast injury causes thermal injuries
Fragments are distributed along the axis of the bomb, ... when a bomb falls at an angle there is not uniform blast/fragment distribution.
Distance from the peak shock wave determines the amount of damage to an individual. Zarqawi was in the house when he was hit. Dr. Jones had several graphs to show the peak shock wave and it's results in this particular case.
Maj. Gen. Caldwell: "Zarqawi was treated better in death, than he treated others in life."
Yesterday military officials debunked the story from 'Mohammad' in Iraq who claimed to be the ONLY eye-witness to Zarqawi's death. Mohammad claimed that he saw American troops 'beating' Zarqawi before the terrorist died. When asked about this, the military spokesman said it was "Baloney".
General George Casey, the top commander of US troops in Iraq dismissed the claims, saying, "The way I respond to the comments of the alleged Iraqi who saw what went on there is: 'that's baloney. Al Zarqawi died while American soldiers were attempting to save his life'" source
The remains of Zarqawi and Rahman are being held with coalition forces until the Iraqi government decides where to send them.
Oh yes, Hot Air has a few words on the autopsy. source

Turns out Zarqawi’s wife was more of a "child bride" than we had suspected. From Wikipedia:UDATE: I forgot to include that the DNA tests were 100% positive ID for Zarqawi. No aquestion it was him. This picture is from The Lone Voice, who always has Good News From Iraq ___________Zarqawi is believed to have had two wives. Al-Zarqawi married his second wife Israa, when she was 13 and she bore him a child when she was 14. Al Zarqawi along with his wife, Israa (then 16), and their son Abdul Rahman (then 18 months) were killed in the airstrike on June 8, 2006.Zarqawi was 37 when he married this 13 year old girl. Clearly, he was a pederast, just like his hero Mohammad.

Yep, Mrs. P, I made the same mistake on the post I did about Zarqawi (you sly devil you) and called them leopard 'skin', when in fact it was leopard 'print'.
Don't want to get the PETA folks all riled up, ha.
