When word came to the terrorists to 'do your attacks now', to take down 10 - 12 passenger jets over the Atlantic with 'liquid explosives' and every day electronics, the Brits were ready. They had been surveilling the group for months. Scotland Yard announced that not only had the Brits been watching this group, Pakistan was closely involved with at least 7 members of the 'bottle bombers' arrested, 5 were arrested yesterday and 2 were arrested eight to ten days ago in Lahore and Karachi. It was the arrest of these two in Pakistan that prompted arrests yesterday in London, Buckinghamshire and Birmingham.
Last night US officials told reporters that substantial sums of money had been wired from Pakistan to two of the alleged ringleaders in Britain, so that they could purchase airline tickets. One report said they were planning a "dry run" to see if the mechanics of the plot worked - and hinted that this was what decided the security services and Special Branch to move in, ending a huge surveillance operation source
Yes, they 'followed the money trail', a good lesson for us here in the United States. The following actions of British intelligence should also be a lesson for the 'left' in the U.S. That 'dry run' was scheduled for today, 8/11/06.
Aided with intelligence from an 'undercover agent' who had infiltrated the terror group, Britain's MI-5 and others were able to follow the planning of the group. The fact that 'sneak and peak' intelligence gathering was available to MI-5 under their 'terrorism law', gave them the upper hand in watching the plans develop. This generaly means phone taps, entering residences and places of business while occupants are away, planting bugs, cameras, etc.
The British can hold suspects for up to 28 days without charging them with any crime. You won't see that happening in the United States.
Two British citizens also assisted law enforcement by informing them of the groups intents. Hopefully we will not hear details about these two brave citizens and their names will not be published, because I fear their lives might be in danger.
Some very interesting facts are coming to light this morning. One is that the leader of the group, an 'imam', worked for Heathrow and had a 'full access pass' to all parts of the airport. He was actually arrested while in full airport uniform. Also, 'an Islamic militant arrested near the Afghan-Pakistan border several weeks ago provided a lead that played a role in "unearthing the plot," that helped authorities arrest suspects in Britain.'
George Galloway was friend with, and met several times with, the leader of this terror group. George Galloway is of course a former MP in Britain, a certified nut in my book, and considered by some Muslims to actually 'be a Muslim on the down-low'. Interesting.
The term 'bottle bombers' is silly and I won't be using it. The fact that the terrorists wanted to use a 'sports drink' bottle to carry their liquid explosive, a 'peroxide based liquid', is the reason for the simple term. They are potential mass murders of innocent humans, both westerners and Muslims/Arabs.
Since July 7, 2005, Britain has been serious about stopping terrorists before they have an opportunity to act on their desires. It's a good thing, with their present situation and large number of Muslim residents.
... one in three British Muslims aged between 18 and 24 said they would rather live under Sharia law than under British law. In a Pew poll of Muslims worldwide, a gob-smacking 81% of British Muslims said they thought of themselves as a Muslim first and a citizen of their country only second. This is a higher proportion than in Jordan, Egypt or Turkey, and exceeded only by that in Pakistan (87%). By contrast, only 46% of French Muslims said they were Muslims first, compared with 42% who felt themselves first and foremost citizens. [snip]... the only country to top the British score was Pakistan. And to where do most British Muslims trace their origins? Well, nearly half of them have their roots in Pakistan, and another quarter-million or so in India and Bangladesh. A very large number hail from just one region: Kashmir. Is there something about the particular religiosity of Kashmiri, ... source
According to Judge Andrew Napolitano of Fox News, Britain does not have a constitution like ours and thus they are able to carry out more investigations without having to 'prove' to a judge that the parties are 'probably' guilty. They can get a warrant much easier than here in the U.S. and can get permission for wire/phone/home taps easier. They are also not afraid to 'profile' when profiling is called for. We could take a lesson here also.
FYI, the Brits are referring to the terrorists at 'Asians', which has been confusing for us here in the U.S., since that terms usually means Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc. But in Britain the term 'Asian' means Pakistani or Indian. Confusing, yes.
Hot Air has a partial list of the terrorists:

These terrorists were not 'underprivileged' or 'disenfranchised', they had jobs, homes, bank accounts:
The Bank of England froze the assets of 19 people early Friday, naming them as people arrested Thursday in connection with an alleged terror plot to bomb British passenger jets.On the advice of the police and security services, the Treasury has instructed the Bank of England to issue notices to effect a freeze of the assets of a number of individuals arrested in yesterday's operations," a British Treasury statement said.
More names might still be added to the list, ... The oldest person on the list, Shamin Mohammed Uddin, is 35. The youngest, Abdul Muneem Patel, is 17. source
Was this the work of al-Qaeda? Was this the 'big one' that bin Laden promised? Is there any connection to Iran's Ahmadinejad's promise of armageddon on August 22? I think the answer is, 'it really doesn't matter'. It doesn't matter if this was supposed to be the big one or what name we put on the terrorists. Their goal is the same. Destroy innocent life.
On the August 22 armageddon, Fore Left says:
Instapundit linked to Brendan Loy, who wondered whether the attacks could have been timed for August 22, the date Ahmadinejad has cackled about regarding the 12th Imam or somesuch. Not ruling it out, but if what we're hearing about a Pakistani connection is correct it seems doubtful. That area is predominately Sunni, and as we saw today, the two really don't get along.

Hello Debbie and all,
By the way, pay special attention to the fact that my birthday is August 11th, which is 11 days before August 22nd! And yet, I remain hidden as a thief...
Pay close attention, profundity knocks at the door, listen for the key. Be Aware! Scoffing causes blindness...
At the core of the deceptions used to manipulate humanity is the concept of religion. Without it, Bush, the Neo-Cons, and their cohorts could never have gained and retained political power by manipulating an already deluded and susceptible constituency. Likewise, their thinly veiled partners in crime, Bin Laden and his ilk, could never have succeeded in their roles in this centuries-old Vatican-led grand deception.
We are all stuck in a web of interlocking deception formed by money, religion, and politics. The great evils that bedevil us all will never cease until humanity finally awakens, shakes off these strong delusions, and forges a new path to the future.

Understanding the Fatal Flaws in Judeo-Christian-Islamic Prophecy
As certain world leaders strive to instigate a fabricated "battle of Armageddon," it is vital to understand and spread the truth about these ancient texts to help bring about an end to such abominable evil.
You can never expect philosophies based on lies and great error to lead to peace and harmony. How many more millennia of terrible proof is necessary before humanity finally gets a clue that most have been utterly deceived by the very concept of religion.

They avoided "this" terror attack with all of the tools that the left,CAIR, ACLU, The Old Grey Bitch/NYT, Dhimmicrats that want power and many have been crying about.
Now we sit back and wait for the next one. I say no. I don't presume to know how to go after these nuts but to sit and wait is suicide!
