Warning: Blogging is addictive
A new scientific study has proven that blogging is addictive. The study shows some other very interesting findings. Blogging can help you maintain your slim and trim figure. Another interesting finding is that blogging improves your motor skills and your ability to multi-task.
The study was conducted without any funding from any special interest groups such as computer manufacturers, software developers, or makers of products like Depends (adult diapers), or the beer and wine industry. The participant was paid no money and was not given any products which might influence participant's reactions during the period of the study.
Said study did not take place in any institution of higher learning, nor any controlled environment. This study took place in a home which is where most bloggers work.
Results of the study show that bloggers have a tendency to 'want to post just one more article', and to 'read just one more blog', or to 'send just one more tracktack'. This desire for 'just one more' resulted in bloggers sitting in front of their computers for hours at a time. Bloggers would put off eating, drinking, and even going to the bathroom so they could finish researching just one more thing. Here's a portion of the printed results from the scientific study:
ADVERSE REACTIONS: No specific antidote is known for addict. A blogectomy might possibly shock the addict from his illness, but the possibility of severe withdrawal and it's resulting side affects would be too damaging to the nervous system to even attempt.TREATMENT: The suggested treatment for blogaddiction is:
1. Rx: Dispense large amounts of liquids within arm's length of the computer/blogger prior to turning on computer.
2. Rx: Dispense large amounts of solid foods within arm's length of computer/blogger.
3. Rx: Provide loud alarm clock NOT within arm's length of computer/blogger. This clock is to be set for 2 hours after blogger turns on computer. When clock alarm goes off, blogger MUST ...
A. save all work; get up; go to bathroom;B. check on other members of family to make sure they are alive and well;
C. check to make sure house is not on fire or in any other danger;
D. return any important phone calls;
E. return to computer, reset alarm clock, begin blogging again.
PRECAUTIONS: Blogger must be aware that his addiction may lead to divorce, loss of children, loss of home, loss of job, ... but may also lead to many new friends in the blogosphere, large numbers of contacts through Google and other searches, increased numbers of trackbacks resulting in an increased rank in The Truth Laid Bear. (blogger must weigh the pros and cons)
Remember these sage words:
And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order. Mosiah 4:27Via By Study And Also By Faith Blog who says, "There are all kinds of factors that can affect our ability to have self-discipline, self-control, self-mastery.

Linked with Gribbit's Word, who obviously read this scientific study and took some time off from blogging to get treatment for his addiction.
Also linked with123Beta Open Trackback Weekend, who takes off every weekend to help curb his addiction.
Confirming his addiction with a trackback is none other than Texas Fred.

Yes, blogging is addictive. But at least it's a legal addiction!
I'm in the blogosphere in a search for the truth.

Cool! I got a kick out of this post. Glad my words could help!
Naturally, I deny being addicted to blogging.

I only blog when I'm alone or with somebody. I don't need meetings, I don't have a problem. What I do with my blog is nobodies business but mine. Anybody who doesn't like being around me when I'm blogging can leave.
Veddy clever!

I remember a similar study done in another house.
Adverse reactions included hostility toward other bloggers (most strongly against the "bigger bloggers" of Pajamas Media) when subject was ignored or not added to blogrolls, be they site-specific or cause-specific (as in the 101st Fighting Keyboardists).
Some very effective treatments included tuning in to athletic competitions (although this was far more successful in markets with winning teams), and a scantily-clad significant other performing a "lap dance" on the subject.
