We are at war folks. It's about time everybody in the United States realized that. People around the world want to destroy us, our country, our way of life, our religions, ... Some people get it, some don't!
We have read over the last few weeks about the new anti-terrorism laws in Britain and how great they worked in arresting and charging the terrorists in the recent passenger jet plot. Australia also has new, tough, anti-terror laws. Now Jordanian parliament approves anti-terror law similar to those in Britain.
The discussion here in the United States is comparing our anti-terror laws with those in Britain, and hopefully some changes will be made here.
A closer look shows some similarities between the British and American rules, due in part to a series of aggressive anti-terrorism moves by the Bush administration since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. [snip]The Justice Department announced last week that it was launching a review of U.S. and British anti-terrorism laws. But some officials have downplayed the chances that the effort will lead to new legislation. "The British have better tools. If you want to get a warrant, all you have to do is call up a minister," Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), the chairman of the Senate Intelligence committee, said last week. source
Our American citizens and jounalists are under attack around the world. Fox News employees Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig are thankfully safe and on their way back to the United States today after two weeks in captivity. As I reported yesterday via DEBKAfile, 'Hamas hired Zakaria Dughmush and his masked men to capture the two Fox News journalists in Gaza City on Aug. 14'.
Zakaria Dughmush was handed the contract to kidnap one or more Americans by the abductors of the Israeli soldier when their efforts to negotiate a prisoner swap broke down. [snip]Mahmoud Abbas and Ismail Haniya both know exactly who kidnapped Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig. They are embarrassed enough to go through the motions of protesting the abductions, but not enough to take real action to put a stop to the Hamas scheme of holding the two Fox journalists hostage to raise the ante for the Israeli soldier. DEBKAfile
Fox News has one source that denies any Hamas connection, but others are also reporting this information.
Senior Palestinian security officials said Sunday the name was a front for local militants, and that Palestinian authorities had known the identity of the kidnappers from the start. Critics say that the Hamas-led Palestinian government permitted the kidnapping in order to gain favorable publicity from the media upon the two Fox News. source
Iran has shown that they have submarines that had successfully launch missiles that could carry nuclear warheads at the same time they announce a new phase at their Arak heavy-water reactor.
So what are we going to do? ScrappleFace via Mike's America has an interesting idea:
Bush: B-2 Flights Over Tehran for ‘Peaceful Purposes’ -- Just hours after Iran opened a new plant capable of making plutonium “for peaceful purposes”, U.S. President George Bush assured his Iranian counterpart that any B-2 bombers that appear over Tehran in the near future would also serve peaceful purposes.
Oh, if only it were true... Diane West suggests a 'speech to the nation' by Bush that we can only pray he will one day deliver:
It is, however, in our national interest, and must become a part of our national will, to ensure that Islamic law does not come to our own shores, whether by means of violent jihad terrorism as practiced by the likes of al Qaeda or Hezbollah, or through peaceful patterns of migration, such as those that have already Islamized large parts of Europe. The shift I am describing-from a pro-democracy offensive to an anti-Shariah defensive — means a national course correction. Rather than continuing to emphasize the democratization of the Muslim Middle East as our key tool in the war on terror, I will henceforth emphasize the prevention of Shariah from reaching the West as our key tool in the war on terror. (part I)
In part II of Diane West's suggested Bush speech, he lists just how the United States will protect itself from sharia, in his 'anti-sharia program'. (1) Secure the borders of the United States of America. (2) Redefining who we are at war with. (3) Adjusting our efforts in Iraq.
Once, I saw the war that began on Sept. 11, 2001, as dividing the world between those countries that were with us, and those that were against us. I have now come to define the crisis, both cultural and military, as occurring between the Free World and the Sharia World. [snip]Accordingly, I have directed our military to formulate a plan to redeploy American troops from Iraq's cities, where they have been operating at great risk to attain stability for the Iraqi government, to bases in the north. From there, they may assist as needed in our mission to neutralize the terrorism- and sharia-exporting capabilities of freedom's enemies in the region.
These would include nuke-seeking Iran and Syria, without whose support Hezbollah would not exist, and Saudi Arabia, from whose coffers comes global jihad.
What we call the war on terror now moves into a more focused phase, which better defines our mission and makes it more attainable. The road ahead is long and difficult, but our next steps are clear.
G-d bless the United States. (more)
See video of Iran's execution of a teenage girl at LGF. What was her crime? Not following sharia law.
Blogs are under attack as well as our military men and women:
Tanker Brothers are under attack from the 'left'. Read all about it here and here. Go give them some moral support and kind words.
It was bound to happen, Tanker Brothers and Sisters: the Anti-War crowd has launched a dishonorable rhetorical attack on the Tanker Brothers.
W. Thomas Smith at Townhall sums things up nicely:
I’m reminded of a scene in the 1970’s movie, The Outlaw Josey Wales, in which Wales (played by Clint Eastwood) is instructing a family of homesteaders about to square-off with band of Comanche Indians. He says, “When things look bad, and it looks like you’re not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean: I mean plumb mad-dog mean. ‘Cause if you lose your head and you give up, then you neither live nor win.“That’s just the way it is.” (source)
Isn't it about time we got 'plum mad-dog mean'?

"Actually, they want to kill you because of your influence and meddling in their homelands. If you kept your superficial pop-culture and armies to yourselves then they probably wouldn't mind you. Especially if you stopped all the oil nonsense and became a little more self-reliant."
I would be the first to agree that the US should adopt a policy of energy independence. As to them leaving us alone after that, I don't buy it. It is my understanding of the Koran that Muslims are instructed to kill and make war against the "infidels". I am sorry to say they would want to kill us no matter what. They hate Israel, they hate the US, and they hate the west and all things that we hold dear, ESPECIALLY FREEDOM.

The Cold War was won when USSR went bankrupt. They couldn't compete economically.
The War on Terror will be won when we stop using so much oil.
No doubt at all we will win: the ideologies of envy and murder do not create wealth as well as we do. Humans work better when they are given incentives.

We're gonna sit on our big fat butts and not do squat.
The reasons:
1. Those on the left deny and most of the uninformed don't realize who the enemy really is, RADICAL ISLAM. I get so sick and tired of hearing the Bush bashers declaring that the Iraq war and the war on terror are not related. Whether the trouble in Iraq is caused by Al-Qaeda, Sunni extremists, Shia extremists, blah blah blah, hell, they are all muslims, every damned one of them. I see no difference. Hezbollah, Hamas, it doesn't matter. They are all Muslims and our enemies. Bush for a flickering moment tried to tell the truth when he use the term Islamic Fascism. I guess he must have offended someone cause I don't remember hearing this from him again.
2. The left including most of the Democrats still insist that the 9/11 attack was a legal matter and a law enforcement issue and NOT a declaration of war on the United States.
3. The left and most of the uninformed think we can negotiate a peace with these bastards. They do not realize or simply refuse to see that these people want to kill us just because of who we are and what we believe and take away everything that we hold dear and unfortunately usually take for granted. Don't believe me? We just negotiated a "peace" with Hezbollah (an Islamic terrorist organization).
4. The left and most of the uninformed believe that we must get approval of the useless UN, before we can do anything in defense of Israel or ourselves. The Democrats and the left will be kissing the ass of Kofi Annan on the day that one our cities goes up in flames. Oh when oh when are we gonna get out of the UN and tell the UN to get out of New York City?
5. George Bush and many of the Republicans in congress have lost focus in this terror war. I remember when Bush stated that any STATE that harbored terrorists would be a target and an enemy of the US.....hmmmm, Iran.......hmmmm,.......Syria? Why aren't these places smoking holes in the ground RIGHT NOW? Why are we farting around in Iraq when we ought to be leveling that place and getting the hell out. If Shia and Sunnis want to quarrel and not have an opportunity at a free society, then fine. Remember, THEY ARE MUSLIMS, they ARE THE ENEMY. Squash them like a bug and leave.
If the Republicans lose control of congress this fall, our national security won't suffer any more than it already has because we're not gonna do sh%t in any case. At least the Democrats will admit they are not gonna do sh%t. The problem with the GOP is they spend a lot of time talking and beating their chests and still end up not doing a damned thing. (Just look at out borders and the criminal invader problem)!
So my friends here you have 5 reasons that you can share with your leftist and generally uninformed friends as to why our great nation is in jeopardy.
Peace and prosperity fro Debbie's Hubby

Mike and James, I know exactly what you mean. But I guess that means you are doing something right. It is a shame that they have to get so personal. The idea of putting your address and personal information on the web, Mike, is really going too far.

You're right about Iranian missile launchings from subs. That's all Iran would need to launch a nuke at one of our cities from offshore. We wouldn't have any way to track the missile back to Iran to retaliate. And even if we did have the proof that Iran did it, you KNOW there will be some self hating liberals who won't believe it, or believe BUSH or some other Republican did it to start a war with Iran.
P.S. Thank you for the alert on Tanker Brothers. I'm heading over to offer support. I've had my own run-ins with the peace fascists. One went so far as to post on the Daily Kos what he thought was my home address and phone number and included a MAP to my house. He got the wrong house, but the threat was real enough.

Its funny that since I started my blog that most of the comments and e-mails I get are extremely negative. If I had a feeble ego I would believe that I was nothing more than an extreme rightwing genocidal murdering maniac. Being willing to get mad-dog mean gets you labelled as a nutjob. Meanwhile, being a suicidal appeaser makes you a true humanitarian. Inaction will lead to oppression and slavery. People refuse to believe this. Our enemy wishes for our annihilation. Better them than us.
