The game is afoot by groups in the United States to give blanket amnesty to all illegals in the United States and put them on the path to citizenship. Yes, I'm appalled too. The Uncooperative Blogger has the story in, "immigrant rights march brought to you by Miller" ... that's Miller the beer manufacturer, Miller Brewing Company.
The politically charged event will promote a controversial plan to end deportations and offer legal status for all 11 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants. That creates potential pitfalls for any businesses lending support, experts say.The convention brought together labor unions, anti-war groups, immigrant service organizations and even socialist political candidates.
Hours before bashing NAFTA and U.S. foreign policy, participants at the Aug. 11 reception mingled with the Miller Girls, the company’s public relations ambassadors, amid a display of Miller logos.
Miller is also bankrolling informational ads in Voces Migrantes, or Migrant Voices, a community newspaper in Chicago, and has promised scholarships for area Latinos.
How about the companies supporting LaRaza?
Why not call miller and let them know how you feel: (414) 931-2000

President Vincente Fox Forced From Podium By AMLO Protestors
Obrador's promised to make Mexico ungovernable. It worked yesterday, when Obrador supporters prevented Vincente Fox from giving his last State of the Union to the Mexican Congress. They physically stormed the podiumFrom the Chicago Trib:
MEXICO CITY -- Facing the threat of an ugly confrontation with opposition congressmen, President Vicente Fox abandoned his reading of his state of the nation speech Friday before the Mexican congress, breaking a tradition dating back 180 years."Given that the posture of a group of legislators makes it impossible to read the message I have prepared for this occasion, I am leaving the hall," Fox announced after delivering a written version of the annual presidential report, called the Informe.
Half an hour earlier, legislators from the Democratic Revolution Party had swarmed the congressional stage. They waved anti-Fox posters and the tri-colored national flag, chanting "Mexico! Mexico!" And a leading senator from the party stood at the podium, refusing to yield.
"Deliver it and go," the congressman shouted.
The gambit worked. But it also showed Mexicans, again, how fractured their political system has become...
But in failing to read that Informe to legislators, Fox became the first Mexican president in 80 years to depart from a tradition that began in 1825
According to the article, the bright spot is that average Mexicans have now educated themselves enough on the system to debate the electoral issues.
According to Reuters,Obrador has said: "To hell with their institutions," he told a rally of supporters in Mexico City's central Zocalo square. But he called on them not to march to the Congress building, where some had feared violent clashes."Our movement will always be peaceful," he said. "We will not fall into any trap or allow ourselves to be provoked."
I guess that's why protestors were throwing bottles and rocks at the riot police outside. And, the provocation is that Obrador didn't win the election.Meanwhile, Fox's approval ratings have shot up to 68 percent. According to FoxNews, he managed to give his speech from the relative quiet of a TV station, and he asked for unity.
I'm beginning to wonder if that matters, though. One afternoon, I heard a little quip by a host from Air America, who stated baldly that "Democracy is not rule of the majority. It's rule of the activist minority."

UPDATE: According to a Trib editorial on August 31st:
A nationwide poll published in Mexico City's Reforma newspaper on Sunday found that if the election were repeated, Calderon would get 43 percent of the vote and Lopez Obrador 24 percent...The Reforma poll found that only 23 percent of Mexican voters think Lopez Obrador's national assembly is a good idea, a strong sign that most of the country is ready to accept the eventual outcome and move on. If they're not careful, Lopez Obrador and what's left of his resistance movement will be left behind

Diggers Realm also has a great post with addresses and phone numbers you can use to protest Miller.
UPATE II: The following was left as a comment, twice today. I understand from Michelle Malkin that other bloggers are getting similar canned comments:
I thought you folks would be interested in receiving the following official statement from Miller Brewing Company regarding the immigration issue:Miller Brewing Company has never supported illegal immigration and we have always supported the full enforcement of current U.S. laws.
Miller did not sponsor the Labor Day immigration march held in Chicago.
Going forward, Miller will closely review all requests for support from community and charitable organizations to ensure that we are not indirectly funding or associating our name with advocacy efforts on the immigration issue.
We plan to stick to the business of brewing, marketing and selling great beer.
Thanks for your interest in this topic.
