Chavez calls Bush the devil - live blogging

Live blogging of Chavez at the United Nations

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez is giving his speech at the United Nations and entertains fellow terrorist nations by calling United States President George W. Bush -- the devil. The audience laughs as Chavez comments on the smell of sulfer still lingering in the room and around the podium where President Bush spoke yesterday. The audience laughs. Doesn't that just sum it all up. The United Nations is a country club for terrorist nations and a megaphone for their leaders to spew their hatred of the United States. They are HERE in New York City, in our beloved free nation, allowed to mock us and our president. I'm disgusted!

Chavez calls Bush a dictator and presumes to tell the world what the people of other nations think about Bush's speech yesterday. Chzvez says 'we need a physchiatrist to analyze Bush'; 'yankee imperalists go home'; 'U.S. people want peace but government won't let them'; U.S. wants to give democracy with bones'; 'a pretentious America is a danger to the world'; 'the U.S. wants peace through war'; 'how cynical can Bush get?'; ... 'the U.S. protects terrorists when it wants to'; ...

Chavez goes on, 'the devil came to the U.N. yesterday -- it smells of sulphur still today'. 'Bush your days are numbered'. 'Bush came here thinking he owns the world.' 'The U.S. is full of imperalistic fire'. 'Yankee imperalists go home'.

Chavez 'Maybe we need to move the United Nations somewhere else, perhaps Venezuela'. Hey, I can agree with Chavez on that. GET THE UNITED NATIONS OUT OF THE UNITED STATES NOW !!!

REMEMBER THERE WAS APPLAUSE, THE ATTENDEES LOVED HIS REMARKS !!!

Update: I'm watching a press conference at the U.N. right now on FOX and the first question to Chavez has to do with U.N. reform!?

Update: Chavez uses the word "inshallah"--arabic for "god willing"--when predicting that "U.S. imperialism" will end soon, which makes you wonder whether his terror-sponsoring buddy Ahmadinejad let him in on a little secret.

The more I travel abroad, the more I realize how dumb most Americans are. The rest of the world agrees with most anti-Bush statements like Hugo Chavez made...why? because they are true. Less than 10% of Americans have passports. This means that even less than that have left the country (a weekend rendevous to the Virgin Islands of Bahamas does not count). Furthermore, this means that most "Amoronicans" depend on CNN, Fox News and other biased media outlets to tell them how the rest of the world feels about its politics. That is why the picture is painted that America is the "liberator of the world". In actuality, it has never been like that. Most people that live outside of this country and have no ties here see America for what it really is...a bully. She is that bothersome child that does the same dirt as its sibbling, then tells the parent what the other one has done.

These comments shouldnt surprise anyone with half a brain. In all reality, they are well deserved. My advice to all of you know-it-all couch potatoes that depend on the media for your views is to get off your asses and go see what the rest of the world thinks about you. What they REALLY think, not what they politely say.

I am truly surprised more terrorist attacks have not occured in this country. Thank God for the sober thought and understanding of the rest of the world.

you know just to put it out there america can be called imperialist...if you really think about it we do tend to help countries and interfere and then stop helping and then all of a sudden attack it. Iraq was once american's allie now what are they doing to Iraq that proves the hypocritical things. YOu can also say bush is the devil it's his opinion it's like your opinion on Hugo Chavez right now and we can't move the UN meeting and there's a reason for that. Who propose to start up the UN it was the american..it wasn't called the UN back then but you get the point. Here's another reason why americans are hypocrite. You propose a meeting where all the leaders of the world meet but then you back off and your nto part of it that's reasonable...i dunno waht americans have to be so proud about it's just like any other countries out there..just cus you win a few wars don't mean anything.

I am appalled at the venom in the "right's" response. Sticks and stones may hurt my bones but Names... It seems to me very hypocritical to get bent over this. My radio, tv and newspapers have featured the President calling certain countries the axis of evil and various talk show types always framing issues as a struggle between absolute good and absolute evil. I assume the people of the axis of evil countries are not evil so I take the rhetoric to be that the leaders of those countries are evil. Why cant Chavez employ the same rhetoric? You may want to say that bush is right and Chavez wrong but cant you address that on a substantive level. You seem to feel that only your side of the argument should be allowed to use that kind of language and theme. You seem to be afraid of a fair fight about the issue which Bush himself raises- the war of Good and Evil. * As to what facts tend to show US is imperialistic-- US insists that all assets of other countries be privatized and remain privatized so that th wealthy usually through corporations can own the natural resources. There were substantial -very substantial state assets in Iraq when US took over. Do you know who owns those assets now? Do you know how the current owners acquired them? Do you know what was paid for them? Do you know what was done with all the consideration recieved for these assest? What is your operating definition of imperialism? Do you know whether or not oil production has been manipulated in Iraq and whether or not the price of oil has been propped up as a result? Do you know who profits from that if it is the case? I am not sure about what is what ultimately but the outrage over anyone challenging the current administrations approach in anything but very mild and restrained language while Coulter, Limbaugh etc are free to constantly use extreme language-- seems to me like you insist the right to bring weapons to the debate while the other side must rely on boxing gloves. I say unfair.

Well, 'The Eagle That Bombed Hiroshema', thanks for that opinion.

There is not a blog like this one, the advocate of the Devil itself, never had read such crap, you KKK moron.

I hope you feel better, anonymous, now that you got all that off your chest. If you had a blog, I would visit it and read more of your writing, your very prolific.

No, things are not perfect in Iraq by a long shot. Did things turn out the way our government thought they would after we went in? That would be a big fat no.

Would we all like for things to be calm and everything running properly and no terrorists or possible civil war going on? Sure. Were mistakes made? Yes.

But things are what they are now, and we have to deal with it.

How is America imperialist? Did you specifically come here to embarass yourself?

What, did you expect America to make the mistake of the British and explicitly create mandates? You say people would "rag on you" whether or not you "liberated" a people, but since when did other people "ragging on you" actually influence your foreign policy? And who the hell was criticizing America for NOT removing Saddam before this invasion? I seem to recall popular opinion being that America SHOULDN'T invade. I'm sure, however, that you believe all of the "insurgents" in Iraq are al-Qaeda, though, and that you've handed off all responsibilities for reconstruction you had promised to an ineffectual, propped-up joke of a government. Tell me, what kind of freedom did you bring in actually REDUCING the amount of security in comparison to when Saddam was in power? How was that even possible? How is it possible that Iraq could have poorer sanitation services, less water, less electricity, and less overall infrastructure in comparison to when Saddam was in power, yet funds allocated to the Iraqi government for such things are rapidly decreasing. Tell me what kind of free sovereign nations exist in the world which allow for America to conduct military operations on their soil without the requiring the approval received from, or knowledge of the operation given to, the host nation's government? Hint: Afghanistan doesn't count.

The United Nations is a poor organization, but that's mainly because they allow abusive countries such as the United States and China an indecent amount of power. No American should be smug about their contribution to the UN - numbers are inflated or put into an improper context in order to create a sense of extreme generosity. Forget the fact that the United States is the second-cheapest industrial nation in terms of foreign aid, contributing only 0.22% of their GNP to the UN, when the target is 7% (and this meagre number comes in after the US had to double their foreign aid assistance compared to what they were giving out in 2002, at a time when Japan, a country less than half as populous as the United States, was beating them in actual overall contributions). Forget that the only countries actual meeting or exceeding this target are European. Forget that the actual quality of what is provided to many of these countries is substandard, and prices are inflated to an unbelievable amount as a sort of payola from the recipient countries.

Forget that all that matters to you, apparently, is the idea that a person can place a vote for a governmental representative, regardless of the fact that the lack of security means that they can be killed for even showing up to a polling booth, let alone considering who they intend to vote for, means that their lives are constantly on the lives. But, that's just the kind of risk they'll have to take and sort out for themselves, now that they're "free". After all, it doesn't matter what America, or the UK, or anyone does with a country, so long as they took out someone who was already hated in the process.

"You don't have any electricity? B..b.. Saddam was a bad man!"

"Members of the police force and army are conducting self-styled raids conducted along ethnic backgrounds, killing civilians, unrestrained by either the United States or Iraqi government? But.. Saddam! Dictator! He's gone! Therefore things are bliss!"

I suppose that regardless of mass deaths, mass insecurity, and crumbled infrastructure, Iraq is still "better" for those living there because they have America(tm)'s seal of approval. After all, they're dying for a noble cause: the enforcement of the will of what another country believes is right.

I wonder, will it take 25 years for the people of Iraq to do what the people of Iran did in 1979 because of what the United States did to them in 1953? You know, that other thing that "wasn't imperialism"? Will you all be so stupid and narrow-minded then, sputting curses at the Iraqi people, foaming at the mouth about how you couldn't believe the people would turn on you after "all you've done for them"?

Considering that you think what another country's leader says about your country's leader is more important than the grave human rights abuses around the world that America, and you, and all of us are both directly and tacitly responsible for, then no - given the current trend, I think everyone will be even idiotic than they are today.

Just how is America imperialist? We attempt to give people freedom and we get ragged on. If we would have left Saddam in power the same people ragging on us would be ragging on us for doing nothing. Americans have done nothing imperialistic. Trying to bring freedom to people is something that all human beings should aspire to. If this is what you consider imperialistic go visit the third world countries and stay awhile. Try to speak out against an injustice. Try to push gay rights. Speak of free markets and open trade. Then enjoy a torture session paid for by the tax monies of the locals.

A plethora of head banging right wing denial however, no refutation of President Hugo Chavez' assertions about the criminality of US imperialism.

I wonder why!

What is this fictitious world? Mud slinging is fine but at least leave some justification.

Oh, not McCain. He is not my choice. Right now I don't know who my first choice for President would be.

We're with you, mark erv, we want to get out of the UN and the UN out of the USA. Bunch of terrorist nations free-loading off the USA. We pay 1/4 of all the money that goes to those criminals.

Feel free, DTH. Last time I communicated with someone of your ilk I was compared to a Nazi. Negatively, of cause.

the short fat man that addressed the un to day has litteraly relieved him self on the floor on the un general councel, i am fed up with this crap it is about time the u.n. pack up and go home to venezuala or some other third world country so they can pick up hookers and not pay the parking tickets they incur... they hate us, we offer them a place to do some good for humanity and they pick up hookers and still complain they have no money and when they are in trouble who bails them out? WE DO! i say no more this is crap and i wont stand for it any more.

Do you guys mind if I call you hypocrats ? If not, then you will call Bush a devil. Otherwise you guys live in a fictious world created by your evil minds.

Crazy. Bush isn't the devil, but he should be to chaps like Chavez and Ahmadinejad.

We need a stronger President in the US. Perhaps someone like McCain?

I can't get trackbacks to work at my townhall blog so I put a link to this instead.

This is one of those times I would like to shoot a man in the head. Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Nasrallah, and any of the bastards that applauded. If I were to pen a rant now I would come across as the kook. It disgusts me that monsters like these have a say anywhere. The fact that they did it from a UN Podium disgusts me even more. The discredited UN provides an appearancce of credibility to these attrocitizers. Chaves was claiming that the US is planning an invasion on Venezuela. I'm to the point, lets prove him right. Here's an idea. Africa is ripe for civilizing. The Middle East and Europe are in a death embrace. LEave them to their throes of passion. Keep defending Israel as well as the Eastern European former Communist ruled countries such as Poland and Czeckloslovakia. Turn our efforts towards Africa. Work with the Africans to develop their land and chase out the Islamists. Developing Africa is where America needs to expend its efforts. It would be more appreciated than our current endeavors.
