Trying to understand Islamic terror
I continue to try and understand Islamic terror. I've decided it really isn't possible. Some people are just mean and evil. A character in "Broken Prey", by John Sandford put it this way:
"Hey, you ever see any of those terrorist guys on TV? Cuttin' somebody's head off or something? Everybody says it's because they're Moslems or something. I know better -- I can tell by looking at them. They like it. They're having a good old time. That's what gets their rocks off - it ain't Mohammad. They like killing people." (murder Charlie Pope speaking to reporter Ruffe Ignace}
Maybe Charlie Pope is right about some of the terrorists, but I still think it is driven by the religion. All the players may have different agendas, different goals, but it can be traced back to their beliefs. They believe that some benefit will come to somebody as a result of their actions, don't they?
"Defining the Enemy", at Islamic Evil, asks the question 'who benefits?'. The answer may surprise you:
In my personal attempt to understand the origins, nature and probable future of Islamic evil I find myself returning to the question of qui bono. Who benefits? The answer is the same as always. It is the Muslim clergy that benefits. The imposition of Sharia law entails vesting in the Muslim clergy the authority to impose by force its rule system on others. This is a traditional role demanded by the orthodox Muslim clergy worldwide. (go read it all)
The opposite of my theory is from Winds of Change via Freedom and Justice, ""Straight Scoop About Iraqi Military From Onsite Marine." It's quite depressing.":
The whole post and the comments remind me of a story from an American soldier in Saudi Arabia. This guy was training Saudis. He asked one Arab guy, maybe a platoon leader, to drop and give ten to show the rest how its done. Instead of being prompt, the Arab was offended."I will not lower myself in front of my inferiors," was his response. Then, he walked away like a little girl.
Is it any wonder that tiny Israel has kicked their collective ass in every military engagement over the years?
One reason the West won't accept the invitation to Islam is that we don't like falling lock-step behind anybody. We like thinking for ourselves, making our own decisions about how we live our lives, how we worship, how we raise our kids, jobs, everything. You see our God gave us freedom of choice, that's what makes us different. God gave us the ability to either accept or to reject what he offers, and yet He still loves us. The God of Islam, or maybe it's just Mohammed and his faithful, apparently won't stand for any form of rejection.
"Convert to lying Islam Not going to Happen", a rant by Assorted Babble:
I have News Flash...It does not matter if ones freak-out and convert, if you are a Westerner and/or Jewish, they desire, live and breathe daily, morning, noon, and night, to kill us; brainwashed from birth. This is only a propaganda ritual to first ask (strike) demand you convert, so they can move forward with their plans; not that.. that stopped them before. Don't be mistaken either, this is a tactic they use to speak with the liberals, in order for them to stir up rhetoric, divide our nation, and want to play nice to terrorists. They [terrorists] have been somewhat successful in promoting fear in ones that want to cut, run and hide from the Middle East. Don't you think that is what terrorists want? Democrat Talking Points!! If we leave Iraq, as I have said for over a year, that I have been blogging....we will be fighting them in our front and back yards. Period!!! It may be time to start gun shopping for more weapons and amnition especially if things change after the elections. We did not start this WAR ON TERROR....for the pea brains out there that think otherwise, do your research. (go read it all, it's also at RCP)
Planck's Constant tells us that "Converting to Islam is not enough", and itemizes all the things that would be GONE if Islam and sharia takes over. No more Disney World, no sporting events, no Hollywood, ... go read them all.

Whatever the motivation, we in the United States need to get our act together, quit making terrorism a political football or we are going to lose this fight. It won't make any difference to the terrorists who is president, or speaker of the house, or in congress ... the will still want to destroy us.
I ran across a new blog you might want to check out, Linda's Thoughts, with quotes for a great life.

Serr8d, I checked out the link you left, and it's funny. Thanks. We always need to laugh!

I've said this before, Islam has to have a reformation. Living in the 6th century isn't going to cut it today, Muhammedism has to change. Chrisitanity had it's reformation in, oh, the 16th-17th centuries and hasn't really killed many unbelievers since. The real changes will come when the Imams and Clerics stop persuading teenagers to strap themselves with bombs to secure 72 virgins in the afterlife...

"When their life depended on it, they converted."
I don't think what Wiig and Centanni did could be considered "conversion" especially when guns were being held to their heads. They were just saying what the idiots told them to say to save their lives. BIG DIFFERENCE!
One of the neatest things about Christianity is that you will not find one instance ever where Jesus forced anyone to do anything. He simply presented His credentials and His story and invited the listeners to follow Him. Converts were obtained by their own free will. He did not tell His followers to go out and kill the Romans or the Jews who rejected Him. On the contrary He encouraged them to spread the Gospel to all corners of the world.
Not so with Mohammed.

I don't know what religion the Fox News employees were, if any. I did hear that after their interview with Greta on Fox, when the microphones were removed and the camers quit rolling ... They shared this:
Centanni kept refusing to convert, he kept refusing to read the script for the camers, but Wiig urged him over and over to convert, 'just do it'. The reason? Wiig had been told by the terrorists that he would be set free because he was from New Zealand, but that Centanni would be killed. Wiig knew that Centanni's only hope to live was to convert, or rather to pretend to convert.
Cetanni didn't know this, but he eventually did what his friend and colleague encouraged him to do.

The two men from Foxnews lived up to the perception of the Islaczis. When their life depended on it, they converted. This shows a weakness that the Islaczis will continue to exploit. I still would like to know what these two men converted from.

To be honest, I often think to myself that most of them, at least the leaders, simply are sociopaths. The problem is that they find justification for their horrific 'passions' in the Koran.
