Denmark, Islam and what it means for us
The Queen of Denmark, Queen Margrethe II, speaks out on Islam in her country and what needs to be done. Daniel Pipes also speaks out with commentary and letters from politicians.
Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has said her country needs to find a "counter-balance" to Islamic fundamentalism, regardless of the opprobium such a stance provokes abroad. The Danish government has already been accused of fuelling xenophobia by introducing measures which effectively closed the country to asylum-seekers. . . .
She said: "We are being challenged by Islam these years. Globally as well as locally. . . .
"A counterbalance has to be found, and one has to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on you. For there are some things for which one should display no tolerance. And when we are tolerant, we must know whether it is because of convenience or conviction." source
Is there a lesson that we can learn from Denmark and from Daniel Pipes? Yes, I think there is, but I don't think our leaders are ready to accept that challenge yet.
Daniel Pipes and Lars Hedegaard, in "Something Rotten in Denmark":A Muslim group in Denmark announced a few days ago that a $30,000 bounty would be paid for the murder of several prominent Danish Jews, a threat that garnered wide international notice. Less well known is that this is just one problem associated with Denmark's approximately 200,000 Muslim immigrants. The key issue is that many of them show little desire to fit into their adopted country.
For years, Danes lauded multiculturalism and insisted they had no problem with the Muslim customs - until one day they found that they did. Some major issues:
Mr. Pipes goes on to list the following areas and expounds on them indetail: Living on the dole; Engaging in crime; Self-imposed isolation; Importing unacceptable customs; Fomenting anti-Semitism; and Seeking Islamic law.
Contrary to media reports, the real news from Denmark is not flirting with fascism but getting mired in inertia. A government elected specifically to deal with a set of problems has made minimal headway. Its reluctance has potentially profound implications for the West as a whole. Daniel Pipes

What does all this mean to us? We need to have real immigration laws. We need to secure out borders. We need to stop passing out student visas like they were candy. We need to demand integration by immigrants and close down mosques that teach anti-Americanism. We need to stop being so nice, so tolerant, so politically correct. We see where those things have gotten Europe.
