Do you get weary of the turmoil, death, and destruction in the world as I do. Sometimes it seems too much for us, like the useless murder of a woman because she wanted girls in her country of Afghanistan to get an education, ... or the killing of three Christians simply because they were Christian.
It reminds me of Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil (Jenseits von Gut und Boese): "And when you look long into the abyss, the abyss also looks back at you." We all need to step back, take our eyes away from the abyss and look to the heavens to renew our spirit. Especially those of us who blog on Islamic terror day after day.
Isaiah 40
28 -Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.29 - He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.30 - Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;31- but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. -- Holy Bible, NIV source

Psalm 121 is one of my favorites. God's Word has the ability to lift us, encourage us, get our eyes focused where they should be. Thanks for adding all these verses.
I have two different Bible softwares, but I'm having problems with them, pobably because they are so old and outdated. But software really isn't necessary anymore, because there is so much on the internet.
Thanks again.

Morning, RT! Thought I'd pop over, after seeing your comments on RS's blog! Yes, I keep reminding people to lift up their eyes, because we do have help. G*D should be our first choice, not our last resort!
That Scripture helped lift my day! Thanks!

Hey fun! Bible Gateway is pretty slick. On this theme, here are some of my favs:
Isaiah 40:22
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
- This one always amazes me because of the geological information conveyed here which no one at the time could have known.
Jeremiah 23:23-24
23 “Am I a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places, so I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD.
- This one causes trouble for the deists and offers encouragement for those who feel abandoned.
Psalm 56:8
You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
- And not only a God directly involved, but tender.
Psalm 121:1-2
I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.
- It seems to be human nature to look everywhere but to the Creator first, yet somehow He’s still there when we finally decide to give Him a try :)
Psalm 27
It is good to hear such things and keep perspective in this insane world. To know there is a broader context and meaning and good to be wrought of it all is of immeasurable value.
