Invitation for Americans to accept Islam from Zawahiri in new video

The new video tape from Ayman al-Zawahiri, that was advertised here, is now on the internet. The video also stars Azzam the American, a/k/a Adam Yehiye Gadahan, a/k/a Azzam al-Amriki. Gadahan has been in one previous video. The video is directed, produced and brought to you by As-Sahab, al-Qaeda’s multimedia production company. The main message of the video seems to be an invitation to Americans to accept Islam.

According to Fox News, Zawahiri is taking Democratic talking points and using them for his own, asking President Bush if he is winning in Iraq, why is he trying to negotiate a pull-out for American soldiers? Zawahiri also says it was a mistake for Bush to reject Osama bin Laden's previous offer for Americans to accept Islam.

This video should reinforce the beliefs of many Americans that Islam wants to take over the world, wants the Caliphate to extend to all nations, and they will do whatever it takes to accomplish this goal. Americans, and all freedom loving nations, should also understand that it is an 'Islamic' enemy that we are fighting in this war.

If Zawahiri and bin Laden think these back-to-back videos they have been producing are 'terrorizing' the United States citizens, they are wrong. Most folks yawn at the news and go on about their daily acitivies. This Labor Day weekend finds Americans celebrating just like they planned, video or no video, watching football games, going to the beach, visiting family, having cook-outs, with hardly a thought of Zawahiri or bin Laden.

The fact that this tape was issued so close to the September 11 anniversary may have some meaning for al-Qaeda, but Americans are not impressed. Could there be secret messages in this video, directing terrorists to attack somewhere? Maybe. One thing is sure, al-Qaeda was chastised by some Muslims after 9/11 because they did not offer an invitation to Americans to accept Islam before the 9/11 attacks.

"To the American people and the people of the West in general ... God sent his Prophet Muhammad with guidance and the religion of truth ... and sent him as a herald," al-Zawahiri said. ...

"We invite all Americans and believers to Islam," Gadahn said, dressed in a white robe and turban with a long, thick black beard and a computer terminal in the background. source

In this video the invitation is being offered, or 'suffer the consequences'. Some experts believe this is just another effort on al-Qaeda's part to remain 'relevant'. When the video is accurately and completely translated, this post will be updated.

But also what’s striking, if you read the transcript of this tape — and I should say the CIA has not yet confirmed that this is indeed the voice of al-Zawahiri, although I think we have to presume that it is — is that he’s using a lot of the same rhetoric as the antiwar crowd. He refers to President Bush as a liar and a defeated president, hinting that somehow the election in 2000 was illegitimate. They call him a failure, an incompetent. These are the kinds of things that the antiwar crowd has been saying. Also on the tape, he says that Bush was foolish to turn down the truce offered by Osama bin Laden as an honorable way out, and says if the United States is winning, why is it debating a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq? Again, this is all something that they are picking up from the world media, all of the antiwar arguments, and they’re are turning them back against us. Zawahiri is saying what Michael Moore and John Kerry were saying a year ago.
