UPDATE: Reports late Friday evening: some evidence has now been detected that North Korea did, in fact, test a nuclear device. Testing on air samples continues.
According to United States officials and South Korean officials, they can find no evidence that North Korea actually tested a nuclear device. 'South Korea sees no abnormal radioactivity in rain after North Korea nuke test'.
SEOUL, South Korea South Korea said Friday it had detected no abnormal levels of radioactivity in rainwater collected throughout the country since North Korea announced its first-ever nuclear test earlier this week. The Ministry of Science and Technology said it has been studying rainwater collected since Monday's apparent test, but found no artificial radiation in any sample.
Also, United States Air Force planes flying over the region to test the air quality have found no evidence of anything nuclear. Air samples have been brought back to labs for further testing. However, 'The North announced Monday it had conducted an underground nuclear test and said there had been no leaks of radioactivity from the site.' Time will tell.
Spree at Wake Up America has an excellent 'overview of North Korea' which includes nuclear, biological, chemical, and missile. I highly recommend it.
