The Faith Club Lacks Faith
If you are not familiar with the book, The Faith Club, this might be a good time to learn. There is an article in USA Today, "Moms find spiritual friends in Faith Club", which gave quite a bit of publicity to the book and a boost to the new 'movement' or following the book seems to have instigated. The book description starts out this way:
"Welcome to the Faith Club. We're three mothers from three faiths -- Islam, Christianity, and Judaism -- who got together to write a picture book for our children that would highlight the connections between our religions."
On the book website it says, "the world needs this book". The news articles and even bloggers seem to be upbeat about this book and the many 'clubs' that have sprung from it. Everybody seems to be missing a couple points in all this 'touchy feely' stuff.
1. Does anyone think for one minute this kind of thing could happen ANYWHERE else in the world BUT in the United States of America? Try having a 'let's all get together, ... water down our own religion in order to accepts yours clubs in, say, ... Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Palestine, and on and on.
2. These women started out doing this for their children. They are teaching them that Christianity, Judaism, and Islam are all three EQUAL religions, that worship the SAME GOD, with equal connections to Abraham.
An article in our local paper this week put it this way (emphasis mine):
. . . these ladies came together to go beyond a simple peaceful coexistence. They wanted to discover a harmony between each other's religious viewpoints. In effect, they were seeking grounds to say to the world, "we all three worship the same God." The problem is, they really don't worship the same God, if they each remain true to their respective faiths. [snip[One of the buzz phrases of the last hundred years in religious dialogue is learning to be "ecumenical." [snip] Needless to say, such an attitude also promotes the combining and compromising of religious viewpoints in order that world religions might work toward complete agreement on philosophical and religious ideals, and finally, even on matters of faith and doctrine. However, such an effort is absurd and is built upon a cracked foundation because it ignores the fundamental compoent of religious faith. What is that component? It is truth. --James Sanders, Decataur County Chronicle

Instapundit links to this USA Today story about the women who wrote the book The Faith Club: A Muslim, A Christian, A Jew-- Three Women Search for Understanding and writes:It's easy to make fun of this kind of earnest, can't-we-all-get-along stuff, but in fact it's exactly what we need. This immediately reminded me of the recent incident in Iraq where Muslim women went to church with Christians to provide a bit of protection following the mass hysteria over the Pope's recent comments. (The fact that the terrorists don't seem to mind causing "collateral damage" doesn't discount this gesture. In fact, it makes it even more amazing.) [snip]
. . . It's nice to see moderates playing nice, and I wish we'd see more of it. But that doesn't change the fact that many of these folks are brutal murderous thugs who have devoted their earthly time to wiping out all that we value.

For anyone who reads the Quran or the Bible literally, rather than metaphorically or in cultural context, the women say, their views will be too liberal. For people who believe there is exactly one way to one heaven, described and delineated only by their own faith, The Faith Club may not offer a template.Doesn't really work if you really believe what you profess to believe.

There really is a difference between Mohammed and Jesus.
Hebrews 4:14-1614Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens,[e] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. NIV
My bottom line, if you have to water down and compromise your own faith in order to 'get along' with someone of another faith, then you have already lost the battle. Because without your faith, without what you believe to be correct, what do you have? Nothing. I can assure you that those who truly believe in Islam will never compromise their faith. Will you?

I recently read "The Faith Club" and found it both compelling and challenging. In the end, however, what brought tears to my eyes is that none of the three women ended up with a true faith. Mrs. Idliby did find the confidence to openly practice Islam, and Mrs. Warner was tentatively transformed from a secular Jew to one who at least acknowledges a need for God. Mrs. Oliver, though, essentially gave up her assurance in salvation through Christ in order to feel better about the eternal fate of her new friends. This is not a happy ending but a sad humanist compromise.
As illustrated in my book, "Stepping into the Light: You're a Christian, what now?" faithfulness to God's word has to take precedence over allegience to self or friends or one has nothing.

Argh! If you water down your faith, it means you don't have any! It's the Great Apostacy all over! I have Faith and it can't be watered down. Why? because it was given to me, and the Giver can't go back on HIMSELF! Tripe. They are not Christian or Jewish in any authenticity! But this is exactlly what the globalists want.
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!
