Democrats Negotiate With Hamas
I bet you thought it was the policy of the United States NOT to negotiate with terrorists and specifically not to negotiate with Hamas. Apparently the Democrats don't see it that way. I thought the United States would not talk to Hamas unless they admitted Israel's right to exist. Again, apparently the Democrats don't care about Israel's right to exist without threat from terrorists. Is this just another example of their 'path to surrender' to the terrorists?
Meanwhile, sources close to the PA government claimed that Hamas representatives recently held talks with officials from the US Democratic Party at an undisclosed location. The sources told the Bethlehem-based Maan News Agency that Hamas representatives had also held secret talks with officials of European governments, including Britain and France. JP
Chad says, "After all, the ISG suggests we talk to Iran and Syria. I mean for whatever reason, talking with terrorist groups and their enablers is becoming rather posh."
Hamas may not be the worry for Israel or the Palestinians much longer since al-Qaeda may be taking over. Conservative Beach Girl offers a chilling scenario:
A recent op-ed by Louis Rene Beres and Clare M. Lopez, Palestinian - al Qaeda Plans is worth your time to read. A major tactic of al Qaeda is to find weak points in a country or region, slip in, and move to subvert the original protagonists such as Hamas in the Palestinian Authority. The tactic has been used effectively to try to take over Somalia and Sudan. Now they are moving into the Palestinian Authority and Hezbollah is busily being re-armed and re-supplied in Lebanon.According to Beres and Lopez, for the United States:
"Significantly, this same crosscut of Islamist terrorist groups presently exists in the United States - although here they function "only" as fund-raising, propaganda, recruitment, and sleeper-cell operatives....Joint Palestinian-al Qaeda teams are planning coordinated mega-terror strikes against Israel and America. Simultaneously, a fight is taking shape among the major ideological factions of radical Islam."
Then the writers give the most important point of their excellent commentary:
"It follows that both Israel and the United States should immediately cease any and all assistance to the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Authority. Above all, it is time for Washington to stop sending American tax dollars to support archenemies of the United States."Candidly, you and I could shout this from the roof tops and we would be whistling in the wind.
Don't worry about Hamas though, they have managed to smuggle more than $66 million in cash through the Rafah border crossing in the past eight months and the Hamas-led government has managed to pay the PA's 160,000 civil servants 69 percent of their salaries due during the last eight months. That doesn't count what they have spent on missiles and other weapons, payments to families of human shields, and to homes who hide those weapons.
On the topic of human shields, Smooth Stone has 'declassified IDF photos and footage that exposes Hizbullah tactics':
The IDF has decided to release photos, documents and videos proving Hizbullah's intentional use of civilians to shield its weapons, missile-launchers and surveillance equipment. A selection of photos are here. The full report, hosted on the web site of the American Jewish Congress, is available here (Go to Smooth Stone for all the video links)

Debbie, the Jerusalem Post has removed those two paragraphs about Hamas meeting with Democrates and with Europeans. Interesting, eh? I quoted them from you and linked to this article and to your blog in my 12-9-06 post (sorry I don't have trackback). Thanks for all the work you do to post all this information!!

Thanks for the link, Jack. The bill is a good idea. If we talk to Hamas, might as well talk to everybody. (not)

A bill has been passed that would ban any talks with Hamas.
"According to the bill the US will have no contact, nor provide aid to the Hamas-governed Palestinian Authority until the terror organization recognizes Israel 's right to exist and denounces terror."
Hope it has some teeth to it that would impose "JAIL" time to any found to be supporting Hamas.
