Dwell in Unity
Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!-- Psalm 133:1
As we exit 2006 and enter 2007, wouldn't it be wonderful is we could actually live together in unity? Oh, not everybody in the world, but maybe just those who love freedom? What about Christians living in unity? Could I get an 'amen' for Americans living in unity?
Great power was manifested in the lives of the early believers. Acts 2:46 tells us why: "And day after day they regularly assembled in the temple with united purpose." They had the same vision, the same goal, and they were all pressing toward the same mark. They prayed in agreement (see Acts 4:24), lived in harmony (see Acts 2:44), cared for one another (see Acts 2:46), met each other's needs (see Acts 4:34), and lived a life of faith (see Acts 4:31). The early church lived in unity -- and operated in great power.
Now the church is divided into countless factions with different opinions about everything. Even individual congregations are split by the most trivial differences. When we finally see Jesus face-to-face, we will surely discover that not one of us was 100 percent right. Only love holds peo[ple together. Make a strong commitment to do whatever is necessary to live in unity -- you will discover how good it is! --Joyce Meyer
Yesterday I posted about 4 American contractors and one Austrian who were kidnapped in Iraq. The men went missing Nov. 16 when a large convoy of trucks being escorted by their Crescent Security Group was hijacked on a highway near Safwan, a city on the border with Kuwait. There is now a tape which proves that the men are still alive.
A visitor here at Right Truth left this comment:
Screw the contractors. War profiteers is what they are. This is the very 1st time in hostory (sic) we have had contractors doing the work of our military and it's all for greed. If they dont (sic) want to be kidnapped or killed tehn (sic) STAY OUT OF IRAQ and let the trained military handle it. --Rob
Thank you for sharing, Rob, but I don't care what these men's jobs were. They could have been truck drivers, mercenaries, cooks, whatever. What I DO care about is that they are Americans (and Austrian). They were working, trying to make a living, trying to support their families, and now they are being held, probably tortured, and may eventually be killed by brutal terrorists. And WHY do they suffer this fate? Because they are Americans, because they love freedom, because they are NOT like their captors.
So yes Rob, I wish them the best, I hope for their release, and it doesn't matter to me what color they are, what religion they are, what political leanings they may have.
Americans can't agree that fellow Americans should be freed from captivity? Americans can't agree that removing an evil dictator from Iraq was a good thing? What future do we have if we cannot have unity on simple things like these? I certainly don't have the answer.
On Iraq's future, Fore-Left asks:
... it's only fair to wonder whether the overt hanging of a Sunni leader at the beginning of Eid, someone they knew would make anti-Persian, anti-Shia remarks before dropping down the hatch, might represent the real Baker/Hamilton "new way forward". Does anyone actually believe the official ISG report, available at your local bookstore in paperback, was the real advice given to Bush? Such things aren't usually discussed in public unless there's a reason. ...Perhaps the rather sudden demise of Saddam signals the way forward, a partial redeloyment or force restructuring to key areas. Here are some possible talking points in support of that: The dictator is gone (ding dong) and the populace will not fear his return. There were/are no WMDs, and his last minute heroics will keep the sectarian flames fanned, making it harder for al-Sadr and company to run amok. Our fallen comrades did not die in vain and will be remembered for the elimination of one of the most vile creatures to ever breath air. We gave peace a chance. (read more)
I've given up trying to second guess politicians, but Fore-Left could just be right.
On Islam and Muslims, we may not see them as having 'unity', but they do have a plan -- a 20 year plan.
The [Pentagon] briefing discloses a 20-year Al Qaida plan to create an Islamist extremist homeland in the Middle East. The seven-stage plan began with the September 11 attacks as "The Awakening,” “Eye-Opening,” in 2003 when U.S. troops took Baghdad. The plan will continue with the “Arising and Standing Up” in 2007 with a new focus on Syria and Turkey, and also more direct confrontations with Israel to try to gain more credibility among Muslims.By 2010, Al Qaida plans on the “Demise of Arab governments.” All this will culminate in an Islamic caliphate in 2013, when Al Qaida and Islamists gain powerful new allies such as China, and Europe declines into disunity.
The “Total Confrontation” period will commence from 2015 to 2020 with the creation of an Islamic Army that will begin a worldwide fight against believers and nonbelievers.
The "Definitive Victory" will be reached in 2020 when the Islamists will assume power globally. --via Villagers With Torches

Rob, you are right on several points. We have spent a lot of money and a lot has been wasted. We have problems right here at home that need to be addressed.
I'm not happy with the Republicans for the spending. Pork everywhere! People need to realize that the government has no money of its own. Any money the government spends was taken from American tax payers.
Politicians need to pass laws that will protect the taxpayers. We are not a bottomless pit of money.
You are probably right about the greed of some who go to war zones. I don't know these particular 4 Americans that are being held hostage, so I can't speak to their situations personally.
The problems with some US schools is not the need for more money, although in your instance that may very well be the problem.
Some schools, no matter how much cash you throw at them, will still be bad, will still put out kids who can't read, write, or do math well enough to get along in the real world. That is the fault of the teachers and school board leaders.
I believe America does need to look within at our own problems more than we are presently. Nobody's perfect.

Hello Debbie,
Sorry if I sound a bit unsympathetic about the contractors. My point is that they do not belong there in the first place. They chose to go into a hostile area for $$$$ (greed). Do you know just how much of our tax dollars are being spent on contractors who don’t even do the jobs correctly and even steal by overcharging etc.. While 10 more schools in my district are being closed. We have wasted billions so far and the reconstruction is billions from being even close to prewar standards. Over 9 billion has been "lost" and many more billions in overcharges. We have a great military and they are capable of doing this work. I have young friends in Iraq at the moment and I have many friends who served in the 1st Gulf War. Again I am sorry for my lack of concern for those who had a choice in weather or not to go in a hostile area for $$$$$.
When we have wasted all of our economic resources on those who could care less about our own continued growth we will have only made our country weaker. They are suggesting that in order to help cut costs in our education system we meld middle school with high school. Great idea to have a bunch of 12 year old girls going to school with 17 & 18 year old boys. Boy that out to work out just great. Also I read your take on Jimmy Carter and I must agree that he could have done a much better job of getting the facts straight and not just making them up in his book but you might also look at our current president and ask the same from him since his made up facts are killing our youth and bankrupting future youth.

I will come back when I feel I have something to add to what's being discussed but yeah I'm pretty turned off at the blogger culture right now.

Ali, you have left many comments here at Right Truth. I have never removed, or cut any of them and I have never been rude to you in any way. I'm sorry you feel the way you do and sorry if you feel slighted at some other blogs.
I don't know exactly what you have experienced, but obviously the folks you have encountered do not represent the majority of Republicans. I consider myself a conservative before I do a Republican. I hope you will come back here and comment. We are happy to hear all views at Right Truth.
Do keep in touch.

Since they seem to have blocked me at WomanHonorThyself, I'm going to make this announcement here...
Due to my treatment at WomanHonorThyself (where I was blocked from responding to several rude comments targeted at me) and GUNZ (where the blogger actually altered my statements) I am officially going to begin working AGAINST right-wing politics. In the past, I was affiliated with the Republican party but after being prostelyzed towards multiple times, often offensively and aggressively, I left that party but continued working with the Right. I am now working AGAINST the Right with the specific goal of getting 10,000 Jews, Sikhs, Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims to leave the party in protest of the continued harassment of minority religious groups by evangelicals within or financially supported through legislation by the Republican party. These groups often harass non-Christians using unsavory tactics and until the Republican mainstream takes an active stand against such behavior, I want nothing to do with this party.
Over $1 Billion was spent by evangelical groups last year to convert the Jews to Christianity. Due to recent legislation in Congress, such efforts will now be government sponsored (this information is from the anti-missionary group Messianic Truth.) I have seen evangelicals harass Sikhs and Buddhists in the streets.
We have had enough. I want nothing to do with the Right until it stops acting as the political arm of the Evangelical movement.
It is one thing to stand up for moral values. It is quite another to harass people with prostelytizing and behavior out of the middle ages.
I have often said I am a muslim here. This is not 100% accurate. When I first posted here I was interested in converting to Islam; I have since gained more interest in either converting to Sikhism or Judaism. I kept posting as "Ali" (a nickname) to avoid confusion on who I was. Regardless of whether I become a muslim a jew or a sikh though, I dont want my children to go thru the same harassment I have for being a minority.
Republican party- you have lost a strong supporter. Know that if you won't change, you will lose many more.
Vote for Libertarian and Constitution Party canidates. Don't feed the Left, don't feed the Right.
My Jewish brothers- join the Jewish Defense League and stand up against assimilation.
I bid you farewell, bloggers.
