CAIR's man in congress named to Judiciary Committee

The Council for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) now has a representative in congress, on the Judiciary Committee, and poised to pass legislation that will help terrorists.

Rep. Keith Ellison didn't take long to show his true colors. He is going to team up with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to create a bill outlawing profiling of Muslims at airports and other public places. Hat tip Yid With Lid Ellison has been named to the House Judiciary Committee, and will use that position to ban racial profiling.

Ellison was chosen for his new assignment by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The Judiciary Committee has jurisdiction over issues relating to civil liberties, immigration policy and constitutional amendments, among others ... Ellison said he wants to work on a number of issues, including community-oriented policing efforts, immigration, intellectual property rights and privacy concerns including the Internet. (Star Tribune)

For those of us concerned about illegal aliens, having Ellison connected to immigration in any way is a bad thing. Does anyone think for one minute he would be FOR closing the borders; or FOR sending the illegals home; or FOR changing the law on anchor babies; or FOR stopping health care; or AGAINST special tuition advantages, or the burden on our school systems caused by illegal aliens? BWAHAHahaha

"I look forward to pursuing a progressive agenda in the committee, including the restoration of American citizen's civil liberties that have come under increasing attack over the past six years," said Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress.

Ellison, a freshman lawmaker, said this week he'd like to see a ban on racial profiling, an issue that could come up in the Judiciary Committee.

Reaction from Robert Spencer:

In light of these and other cases, are law enforcement officials not justified in directing particular scrutiny at Muslims? After all, neither the American Muslim community nor any other has pronounced takfir on Osama bin Laden or any other jihadist individual or group. (Takfir is an Islamic practice akin to excommunication, involving the declaration that a particular Muslim is actually an unbeliever.) Jihadists move more or less freely among peaceful Muslims worldwide, and those peaceful Muslims have mounted no large-scale, organized attempt to wrest the intellectual and theological initiative away from the jihadists. In light of this, and of the jihadists’ copious and consistent use of Islamic teaching to justify their actions and make new recruits, it would be foolish in the extreme to outlaw, as Pelosi, Conyers, and Ellison wish to do, what is known as “religious profiling.”

Would we really all be safer if the one and only element that is common to all jihad attackers – a devout attachment to Islam – were ruled out of bounds as an object of consideration by law enforcement officials? The anti-profiling initiative that is sure to begin soon will necessarily be predicated on the proposition that there is no more reason to be concerned about devout Muslims than about devout Presbyterians or devout Amish.

Unfortunately, the evidence leads in exactly the opposite direction. Robert Spencer, FrontPageMag

Wizbang responds:

Shocking as the very election of Keith Ellison, a/k/a Keith Hakim, a/k/a Keith X Ellison, a/k/a Keith Ellison-Muhammad, to the House of Representatives from Minnesota's 5th District was, given his history of support for Farrakhan's Nation of Islam and their radical anti-semitic agenda, his support for cop-killers and terrorists, and his personal history of flouting the law, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Sweet Spirits of Ammonia says, "Ellison Infiltrates Judiciary Committee".

Smooth Stone:

Looks like not many folks are taking Sheik Ellison as a threat. However, I am. Lefties, like "Teresa", who I was debating with over in the comment section at Boker Tov, Boulder, avoid the real questions about Islam, because then it would mean confronting the nature of Islam itself. Islam is more than pretty fabrics and mosaic tiles. Islam is opposed to individual liberties. It is opposed to freedom of speech. It is opposed to equality for women. It is opposed to the equal treatment of Muslims and non-Muslims. The tenets of Islam, as expressed in the Koran that Ellison swore on, contradict the institutions of this country.

Sixth Column

Watch for legislation to outlaw "religious profiling"... and worse... "defaming the Prophet" ... or smearing Islam or Muslims. ...

It's only a matter of time before our First Amendment right of Free Speech goes down the drain.

And that my dear friends is the big question... Just whose rights will Ellison be legislating? Will it be the average American citizen that he his concerned about? That's very doubtful. He has an agenda. He is in a position to push that agenda. That agenda will NOT make us safer. He will be legislating for CAIR. You know it, I know it, and CAIR knows it.

Oh dear. Another KKK blog.

Geez, did you not ever hear about Martin Luther King Jr?

The Boogy Man is coming to get back his land dear.

It was stolen from the dark skinned people.

I'm honored, Smooth Stone. I believe you are in my blogroll already. I better check to be sure. Love your site. You do good work.

Debbie, excellent post and thanks for the mention. I will be adding your site to my blogroll, if that's ok.

I realize that Ellison can't do anything by himself, but he does fit in with that far left wing of the Democrats. That bothers me.

You know, I don't really care that Ellison is a Muslim. But his politics are truly frightening. How he managed to get elected is beyond me.

Since when did Islam become a race? Ok, if they try to outlaw religious profiling that should be quite interesting since the constitution doesn’t even define what constitutes a religion. I would assume, then, that any discussion about anything of a philosophical nature would be considered profiling. Sounds to me like we all need to don our veils and head for the airports!

pffffffft......racial profiling, Islamophobics, homophobics-what's next? Really I find it mind bloggling that people cannot see the truth and deny it even when the facts are laid before them. What ashame for this country-exactly why America's beacon on the HILL is ever so dim now. I am truly saddened by the turn of events in our nation and peoples unwillingness even in the wake of 9/11-to want to carry on with business as usual. There is nothing usual about this-it is dangerous. God help us. I pray for our nation and it's citizenry daily. In all you get - get understanding. Without it we are lost. Great post Debbie and you are no Islamophobic.

You know as much as I hate to admit it Keith Ellison is not so different than most Democrats. He simply brings that Islam factor to the table ... which makes him a little more dangerous to all our health than a normal Democrat.

The House Judiciary Committee has 38 members, half of them Republicans. Beyond that, the House does not make law. A bill has to pass the Senate and then pass the President to become law. I can't see Bush okaying a bill stopping the profiling of muslims at airports, he knows he'd be run out of Washington on a rail by his own party, and considering how the Iraq muslims have made such a monkey of him, I kinda doubt he has much love anymore for muslims. In the meantime, Ellison may well turn out to be a one-term flash in the pan. Or, he may suffer from a terrible accident at the hands of one of our alphabetized agencies. Others have. My real concern is Pelosi. She's the one with the real power and she needs to be stifled. She seems to have no grasp of reality whatever. She's a danger.

Clearly religious profiling protects society from unwanted influences. Why do you think Hitler made all the Jews wear Stars-of-David on their clothing? -- You Islamophobes are so amazingly ignorant.

Minnesota's 5th District is very liberal here in Minnesota so yes since I live here I know how Liberal it is. Keith Ellison and Nancy Pelosi might try to create a bill outlawing profiling of Muslims at airports and other public places but I think that the Commander and Chief still has his veto pen in hand so I am not going to fret that one just yet.
