This kind of compassionate reaction from the infidels should be accepted graciously by the Muslims and acknowledged. But what is the Muslim response to infidel acts of kindness?

Muslims are part of the Abrahamic tradition that started with the Prophet Adam (pbuh).
The best way to describe Islam is with this phrase:
"Accepting the prophethood of Jesus Christ (Isa Masih) peace be upon him, but not his deity"
So, unlike the Jews we accept Jesus Christ (Isa Masih) peace be upon him...as our savior and Prophet, but not the son of God or God as the Christians believe.
Muslims have been in America before Columbus and during the slave trades, which 80% of the African-Americans who were brought here used to be Muslim until their slave masters forced them to convert to Christianity and take Christian names. There is also proof of Cherokee Native Americans who wore Turbans and believed "in the one God".
Anyway, Islam has a long history in the USA and it will be around in the future. Considering that in 1400 years it has withstood the Crusades, Mongols, Tatars, and others. It has proven it's hardiness. Islam is the greatest Ally America has in a fast globalizing world where borders and politics are changing daily. Islam provides a spiritual path that unites people to work in the path of the peace and harmony one God and the betterment of humanity.
After studying various religions from [A]merican Native Animism to [Z]ulu Shamanism...I myself reverted to Islam 10 years ago and have never looked back since, this coming from a typical American kid raised in Texas and Utah seems crazy, but it is possible and I see more and more people like myself reverting/converting on a daily basis.
Which brings me to the point that in the Quran it mentions that those Jews and Christians who practice their faith and believe in the one God are not only our friends, but also they should not be given Daw'wah to, because they have already heard the message of the one God. If a Jew or Christian chooses to come to Islam, they are welcome to, but they should not be asked to unless they do not practice their faith.
So, non-practicing Jews and Muslims who have left God behind are the ones which Muslims are allowed to give Daw'wah (Invitation) to. I hope this clarifies some things regarding Daw'wah or the invitation to Islam.
Please let me know if I can be of future help, also I will comment in the future when I see discrepancies in information posted about Islam and Muslims.

Thank you for your comment at Right Truth in connection to the Militant Islam Monitor article on the Salt Late mall shooting. I believe in hearing all sides of a story and appreciate your taking the time to express your view. If MIM has posted any information that is inaccurate, then of course they should publish a retraction. However, in going back this morning and giving the article another viewing, it seems most of the information they have published is all referenced, with credit to the original source and links back to those sources. In fact, much of the information they use apparently comes from your own site, The Muslim Forum of Utah.
If the MIM information that suggests you/your group receives Saudi/Wahabi funds is incorrect, then again they should print a retraction and include accurate information.
At Right Truth I try very hard to print only the facts, (and my personal opinions since it is my blog). I will follow this situation and print the facts as they come forward.

I ran across this blog while building a case against MIM. Currently we are working with Law Enforcement and Legal Authorities to take biggoted hate crime inciters like MIM brought to justice.
Our organization not only has never been funded by Saudi Wahabis, but is made up of people that Saudi Wahabis hate, which include Shias, Traditional Sunnis, and Sufis! We not only do not get money from the Saudis, but because of our all inclusive attitude the Sunnis and Shias do not donate in fear of the money going to their oppossite.
So, we run everything straight out of pocket!
In addition, we are all Americans who have been raised in the USA and have or are serving the US Government, Military, and/or State Government.
Personally, I started my life at First Baptist Church Kindergarten in Denton, Texas! Now I am a member of the Shadhili Sufi Order (which will never recieve a penny by any Wahabi).
I along with other Muslims attended the candle light vigil in honor of the dead and to honor the police officer who shot the shooter. In Islam there is a concept called "Futuwa" which is a kind of youthful Islamic Chivalry that can be done by Muslim or non-Muslim but it serves in the way of God and positive moral/ethical actions. Similar to Japanese Bushido or European Chivalry etc. Infact, European Chivalry was borrowed from Futuwa after the Crusades. The relationship between Saladin and King Richard could be explained by Futuwa.
MIM is an example of a hate group that is trying to incite hate against Islam and Muslims, however if you research them...they have no valid references or contact information. But, that is to be expected by criminals.
