Learned people around the world cannot fathom that the mighty super power America, who has somewhere around 144,000 soldiers plus supporting personnel in Iraq, can't seem to beat the terrorists. That's not my words, I think we can win with a little time and some change in the rules of engagement. As the L.A. Times said, Congress is NOT the Commander in Chief, but Congress seem to think they are. They want us out of Iraq before the job is done.
According to them, Iraq is the wrong war at the wrong time. Ah, but Afghanistan is a righteous war, and that's where we need to concentrate our troops. Does anybody believe that Congress is going to send the 144,000 to Afghanistan if we pulled them out of Iraq today? Well of course not. Charles Krauthammer on that:
Of all the arguments for pulling out of Iraq, its comparative unimportance vis- a-vis Afghanistan is the least serious. And not just because this argument assumes that the world's one superpower, which spends more on defense every year than the rest of the world combined does not have the capacity to fight an insurgency in Iraq as well as in Afghanistan. But because it assumes that Afghanistan is strategically more important than Iraq.
Do Americas need to be reminded that we are involved in a war against radical Islamic insurgents, at least that is what Charles Krauthammer calls them when referring to Iraq. Clearly, this is a war between freedom and terror, a war between civilization and barbarism. We must win.
In "This is not Bush's War-- It is America's Fight," Spree at Wake Up America reminds us of the immortal words of John F. Kennedy:
"We shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty."... John F. Kennedy
Do Americans still believe Kennedy's words? If so, some of them are not acting that way.
Keep in mind while Arab leaders seem to be against Iran's nuclear program, they are going ahead with nukes of their own.
Ann Coulter asks, "When will Republicans learn to stop apologizing?" Perhaps the better question is, "When will the West and free nations quit apologizing and acting weak?"
Americans are not scared enough. That's right, I said it. If we had suicide bombers using cars, suicide belts, women, children here on US soil like in Israel, or in Iraq, or any other Muslim-related land, THEN maybe Americans would be sufficiently scared to do whatever, whenever, however ... 'any price, any burden, any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe'. We are blessed, we are lucky, at least we have been in the past.
If Iran is to be believed, they have sufficient terror cells already in the United States and ready to attack when given the command. How did they get here? Some probably legally, but the majority either got here illegally, or are staying here illegally. We are overdue people. Overdue for the kinds of terror that take place all around the world. People laugh at President Bush when he says, 'fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here', but there is truth to that.
However, we may have to fight them here anyway, if we do not start getting serious about our illegal immigration AND how we allow Islam to NOT-integrate into our society.
Did you know?:
Minnesota is home for tens of thousands of Somali Muslims who are recent immigrants to this country. At the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport — about four out of five taxi drivers are Muslim; several years ago troubling incidents started to happen starting with the refusal to transport passengers carrying alcohol. Since that time there have been thousands of refusals for taxi service. [snip]The leader of the Minnesota chapter of Muslim American Society (MAS) is none other than Omar Shahin. He was also one of the detained “six flying imams” who were removed from a US Airways flight last year. The Chicago Tribune has described MAS as the American arm of the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, which “preaches that religion and politics cannot be separated and that governments eventually should be Islamic.” [snip]
Ahmed Samatar, a recognized expert on Somali society at Macalester College in St. Paul notes that “There is a general Islamic prohibition against drinking, but carrying alcohol for people in commercial enterprise has never been forbidden.” [snip]
... these people have no wish to adjust to the American way of life and they are hell bent on changing America into a Muslim Society. They are intent on looking for confrontation and eventually confrontation is what they will get when the American public says enough! (by The Bear at the Absurd Report and Webloggin)
They are testing us. We are not under attack by suicide bombers (yet), but we ARE under attack via our constitution, our laws, our organizations, etc. The hub-bub over the taxi drivers AND the six imams, who are not only suing the airline, but also suing the passengers, is one test after another. Chipping away, or at least trying to, at our very foundation from WITHIN the United States.
It's all about protecting our freedoms, whether 'over there' somewhere or right here at home. If you feel the same way, let me know. If you differ, let your thoughts be known. Thank you for reading this to the end. Now, ... go get a drink, sit back and be thankful you are free.

Headscarves and Outrage, from The Crimson Blog
If our side made captives wear crosses, the Arab street would run red with blood. Priests would be killed, others would be threatened. [snip]Where then is the Red Cross over this obvious violation of the Geneva Conventions. Where are the legions of protesters demanding that whatever prison these captives are being held in be shut down to keep from further harming Iran’s standing in the rest of the world. Where is the outrage? It’s nonexistent. They only get outraged when America treats our enemies with anything less than kid gloves. For, to them, America is the problem, not our enemies.

Merry Widow, thanks for the link and yes I agree with you, as does Rastaman, who said "There's so much we need to do right here at home and right NOW, such as our borders, imprisoning CAIR or shooting them outright, the same with the ACLU, shutting down the mosques, booting out the Somali cab drivers, ... I mean GET SERIOUS."

About the war in Iraq, I agree with this part: "some change in the rules of engagement". Some MAJOR change, yes. The war has been fought politically, rushing to create an Iraq government and then kowtowing to that government that has then been nothing but a stumbling block to progress. The war has been fought extremely poorly and there's no denying it. Fight the damn thing to win it or get the hell out.
I'm not against a war with Islam. We have one now and we have to fight it. I'd just really like to see it being taken a whole lot more seriously and fought a whole lot more vigorously. There's so much we need to do right here at home and right NOW, such as our borders, imprisoning CAIR or shooting them outright, the same with the ACLU, shutting down the mosques, booting out the Somali cab drivers, ... I mean GET SERIOUS.
Lots of luck, right?

Matthew 24:7 and all!
This indiscriminate allowing of mass immigration is opening the doors to widespread health issues! As if we weren't having enough other problems with refugees and illegals!
Good morning, G*D bless and Maranatha!

Thanks, nanc, that makes it even more special and an honor, since you had to go to so much trouble. I'm not very technical either.

Thanks everybody, and Layla, I've been doing it wrong for your new site. I've been taking the permalink and just adding /trackback/ to it. Ding Dong I was wrong.
Posted by: Debbie | March 30, 2007 at 09:09 PM
Debbie great post! As always you put a lot of work into it!
BTW--I got your message about the trackback. Maybe it was not configured right. My permalinks are default now after the server debackle--I did not want to change it. So here it is if you want to try again. Always remember at my place--lol--if you can--to insert the wp-trackback.php where you see I have it inserted below. Thanks hun!

That's a great post and a great point. I don't believe that Congress could care less what's happening in Iraq or elsewhere, as long as they can further their own political goals, and those of their party. It's stopped being about keeping Americans safe long ago, sadly. And that rhetoric will have a negative impact on our ability to act to protect ourselves in the future. All this while we let in thousands of immigrants (from only God knows where) into this country, both legally and illegally, on a daily basis. We are so screwed.
