In a new Pentagon report released today, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confesses to his involvement in the September 11, 2001 attacks on America. The report, which has been redacted, reveals Khalid Sheikh Mohammed confesses he was operational director for Osama Bin Laden for the September 11, 2001 attacks, and the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. The confessions come from a transcript of a hearing held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to Fox News.
Additionally, he admits to being in charge of 'following up on' plans for weapons of mass destruction to be used on America, including biological weapons attacks planned for the United States', including anthrax AND dirty bomb operations on U.S. soil. See my article on Adnan G. El Shukrijumah here.
Khalid Sheikh Mohammed also admitted to his role in the shoe bomber operations, the October 2002 terrorist attack in Bali Indonesia, and the survey and planning to bomb the Sears Tower, the Plaza Bank Building, and other U.S. buildings.
A real surprise to me, was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's confession that he was in charge of making plans and selecting the terrorist cell members to assassinate former United States Presidents, including Jimmy Carter and 'Bill Clinton while the former president was visiting the Philippines in 1994.'
He also admitted to trying to finance and survey plans to fly planes from Saudi Arabia into the City of Eilat.
The admissions came during what was the first military hearing for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and 13 other major detainees ...He went before what is known as a Combatant Status Review Tribunal, the first step toward a possible war crimes trial. (Fox)
He was captured in Pakistan in 2002 and sent to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After capture, he sang like a bird giving U.S. interrogators the names and descriptions of about a dozen key al-Qaeda operatives believed to be plotting terrorist attacks on American and other Western interests. He added 'crucial details to the descriptions of other suspects and filled in important gaps in what U.S. intelligence knows about al-Qaeda's practices.' One of the al-Qaeda operatives identified by Mohammed is Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, a 27-year-old Saudi who went to college in South Florida.(Time.com)
... has also been linked to* the kidnap and murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl in Pakistan in 2002
* the 2002 suicide bomb attack on a Tunisian synagogue in which 21 people died
* a plot to assassinate the Pope during the Pontiff's 1995 visit to the Philippines (source)
Good to know this information, but the information that was redacted is what would REALLY be informative. I hope there is some actionable intelligence that our guys are acting on. But Mohammed has been in custody for so long now, he may be out of the loop. On the other hand, we know that al-Qaeda takes YEARS to complete plans for an attack, so who knows.

Please forgive my indiscretion "Doodle." I guess I have two excuses. First, your handle brought the image of Jimmy Cagney in the movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy" and second, I guess I misread your writing style. Now that you've revealed yourself, I understand more. But I still disagree with your perspectives, although your stories are creative.

"Mr. Doodle,..."
ROFL!
For all the noise being made (and I make a great deal of it) about how sexist the Islamic World is, the only person in the blogosphere that I have so far encountered who did not assume that I was male was a very polite Muslim man who complimented me on how fair he thought I was being about Islam!
Anyway, keep up the good work, SW! :)

TACK, you never know, I appreciate the thought. Sometimes I run across stuff and other times I miss it. I always appreciate tips.

Debb, I got them with my morning emails today. To be honest I didn't realize that they were already on the net yet. I am so naive..ha

TACK, thanks for the offer of the transcripts. They are online I believe. Do you have a link other than the U.S. Dept. of Defense site set up for the sole purpose of displaying the transcripts here:

Mr. Doodle, you are free to believe anything that you want. When I see credible proof, and I mean CREDIBLE proof from CREDIBLE sources, I might be more willing to listen.
In the meantime, IMO, this is nothing more than spreading more conspiracy.

StormWarning,
The terrorists tried to take out the WTC in 1993 and failed miserably. From 1993 to 2001 they did their homework. That's part of the reason they took so long to try again. Bin Laden was prepared this time.
They prepositioned explosives in the WTC to ensure it would come down.
That assertion is based on eyewitness reports from NYFD firefighters that were made public in 2005. Experienced firefighters, many of them senior in rank, persisently reported that the collapse of WTC 1 & 2 looked like planned demolition.
WTC 1 & 2 were designed to withstand the impact of a 707 (the biggest airliner of their day) full of fuel; in fact, they were overengineered for such an occurrence. They did not collapse because of the aircraft strike.

TACK, I have no problem with 'interrogating' prisoners, especially ones like Mohammed who have vital information to stop future terror attacks. I leave it to the experts in our military, CIA, etc. to get the job done. I'm in the Jack Bauer club, whatever it takes.
Posted by: Debbie | March 15, 2007 at 09:35 AM
And if we did, would it have been a bad thing? I'll tell you this, if I contributed to an effort that killed thousands of people and seriously hurt thousands of others I'd hope that my captures would torture me to find out more about who, what, why, where, and when. Let's narrow the scope, if you wife, husband, children, sister, or brother was being held captive somewhere, waiting to be killed and you happend to have one of the abductors tied up in your living room what would you do? I know what I would do. We should be thankfull that there are those that have the stomach to do the things that must be done.

Known terrorists should have no rights (certainly not under our Constitution). Then again, I still favor renditions.
As for conspiracy theories about September 11th...hmmm.
Posted by: StormWarning | March 15, 2007 at 08:50 AM
You are absolutely right TACK. The MSM and lefties are out in full force this morning, suggesting it's all information gleaned from 'torture'. Oh brother.
Posted by: Debbie | March 15, 2007 at 08:41 AM
It's too bad "we" had to enlighten the American public that he was in our custody. I'm sure it was done to show the American public that our efforts were not without rewards. Think about what we might have attained if we did not have every human rights activist looking over our shoulder while we talked to him. Food for thought, lil' controversy for this morning.

They need to keep this guy alive.
There's much more to the WTC attacks than is widely known. Executing him will play into the terrorists' hands.

So, what we may doing to that rotten worm? Kick him to the sharks? Or before, estimulate his tongue in order to the bloke give more names, places and dates?
How many TOP terrorists that devil can delivery around the world?
The birds sing louder in Guantanamo cage. That jail must be called "confessional", hehehe...

Well that is good news. Now on to prosecuting him and hanging him!

Its redacted for a good reason. Partially to prevent alot of conjecture about what it means.
