The wicked witches of Congress are stirring up a nasty brew, a bill to legislate your '"thoughts, feelings, and beliefs" into criminal offenses and put Christians in the bull's-eye.' What was considered politically correct (or is it politically incorrect?) will now become law, and your personal beliefs may be illegal.

Part of the controversy is legislating 'thoughts, feelings and beliefs' about “sexual orientation” or “gender identity”, which the Dems define as 'heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual'. The Republicans say that's unclear, and want clarity 'to include she-male, cross-dresser, drag queen, transgender, transsexual, etc.' Dems are worried about those folks, but don't seem interested about 'thoughts, feelings, and beliefs' negative to our military.
Republican Congressman Randy Forbes from Virginia stated that since it has been proven and established that our military are targets of hate and physical attack, their protection should be included in this bill.
... many facilities are recommending that soldiers not wear their uniforms in large adjoining cities. He mentioned several groups by name that are vehemently spitting on them and abusing them, only because they are US military personnel.
So Forbes offered an amendment to also include military personnel as a protected class and thus to attack them would also be a hate crime. It was defeated. (TVC)
Let's summarize: Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about sexual orientation -- protected by law. Your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about our military -- anything goes.
Bob Unruh explains:
"H.R. 1592 is a discriminatory measure that criminalizes thoughts, feelings, and beliefs [and] has the potential of interfering with religious liberty and freedom of speech," according to a white paper submitted by Glen Lavy, of the Alliance Defense Fund."As James Jacobs and Kimberly Potter observed in Hate Crimes, Criminal Law, and Identity Politics, 'It would appear that the only additional purpose [for enhancing punishment of bias crimes] is to provide extra punishment based on the offender's politically incorrect opinions and viewpoints,'" said Lavy.
The proposal has been endorsed by majority Democrats on the committee, and already has 137 sponsors in the full House, making it possible it could be voted on in a matter of days or weeks.
"The House Judiciary Committee passed a "hate crimes" bill Wednesday night, all 23 Democrats in favor, all 17 Republicans opposed. Every Republican attempt to amend the bill was defeated." CNS
Congressman Gohmert asked:
“If a minister was giving a sermon, a Bible study or any kind of written or spoken message saying that homosexuality was a serious sin and a person in the congregation went out and committed a crime against a homosexual would the minister be charged with the crime of incitement?” [snip]... Democrat Congressman Artur Davis from Alabama spoke up and said, “Yes.” (TVC)
Hey Dems, whatever happened to freedom for EVERYONE? What about Islamic beliefs? Are you going to legislate against their beliefs too? I didn't think so. Christian and Jewish beliefs are easy targets, we won't lop off your head or fly a plane into your building.

You recitation of the exchange between Gohmert and Davis is not accurate. The Traditional Values Coalition passed around that version to make it more convenient to their cause. Unfortunately for them, we have the official transcript:

You would have to ask someone who has a confederate battle flag. I don't happen to have one. However, if I thought that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson would find out about it and would be pissed off about it, I'd go out and get one right now.
I believe in pissing off morons and liberals (one in the same) at each and every opportunity.

With all due respect and complete seriousness, can you explain to me why people fly the Confederate flag? What is its significance and why is it done? What is it intended to communicate to "passersby?"

Wonder when Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are gonna tell you it's against the law to hang a confederate battle flag outside your house? That's gotta be coming next.

Great point. They are setting up a potent minefield.

Good grief, Charlie Brown. Wait, wrong cartoon. This should be Far Side.
If that law passes it's going to be tied up in the courts for years on Constitutional grounds. Unfortunately a lot of people will be put through a lot of misery and financial hardship in the meantime.
As for homosexuals, I ain't one and I don't like them much because the way they act disgusts me almost as much as their sexual practices do. They have no business adopting straight kids, they cannot possibly provide an environment that will not be slanted in favor of homosexuality and there's a high chance that they will sexually molest any children they adopt. The word "homophobia" is constantly misused by homosexuals, it means Fear. What we need is a word that means Disgust For Homosexuals. That would be a lot more accurate.
I've actually known quite a few of them and I can verify that the word "gay", which means "happy" does not apply. Both male and female homosexuals are the most emotionally screwed up people on the planet. Rosie O'Donnell is a good example of lesbian attitudes. Hate and rage.
I personally use the words "queer", "faggot", "poofter" etcetera in speech with friends and we tell jokes making fun of homosexuals. As most straight people do.
That's my opinion, now let someone try to jail me for it.

This has been coming for years thanks to the ACLU, liberals, and our pc/sc so secular society.
