Sanctuary For Terrorists
Sanctuary has taken on a new meaning today. In the past sanctuary was something a church might offer an individual in dire circumstances, but today we have not only churches offering sanctuary to large numbers of illegals, we have entire cities and communities that are protected sanctuaries. Sanctuary protected the 6 New Jersey terrorists from law enforcement. Law enforcement doesn't question folks in sanctuary cities. (see Philly.com)
Eljvir Duka, 23, has 23 active points and 24 suspensions. Dritan Duka has five active points and 11 suspensions. Shain Duka, the only brother who had obtained a driver's license, has three active points and 19 suspensions. His license expired in May 2003.Violations included speeding, careless driving, improper passing and disobeying traffic-control signals, said Mike Horan, spokesman for the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission.
"If you're illegal, you can't get anything from us," Horan said. "You don't belong." (Philly.com)
With all those tickets (and court appearances?), did not one law enforcement person check to see if these guys were here legally? Is Mike Horan of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission joking when he says, "If you're illegal, you can't get anything from us, ... You don't belong." Really? Apparently they got twenty-something years out of us.
They ran two roofing businesses out of their home, ... "But neither Colonial nor National Roofing is registered with the state of New Jersey or Camden County..." What??? Ferik Duka, the Duka brother's father, "was arrested on illegal-immigration charges."
His wife, who is also here illegally, was not arrested because she has to care for the family's youngest child, who is 16, a source said. That child, the Duka brothers' sibling, was born in the United States and is a U.S. citizen. The mother is expected to face a deportation hearing before federal immigration authorities on her status.
So the anchor baby, age 16, may keep mommy Duka in the U.S.? Five of the Dix Six, as they are being referred to, are related. Dritan Duka, 28; Eljvir Duka, 23, and Shain Duka, 26 came across the Texas-Mexico border at Brownsville Texas.
They are Albanians born in Macedonia.[Agron] Abdullahu [24] is the Dukas' cousin, and [Mohamed Ibrahim] Shnewer [22, a U.S. citizen born in Jordan] is their brother-in-law. [snip]
... the Duka brothers ran their roofing businesses with their father, Ferik Duka, out of their home on Mimosa Drive in Cherry Hill. But neither Colonial nor National Roofing is registered with the state of New Jersey or Camden County, officials said. [snip]
The Duka brothers might have become truck drivers for their own roofing companies, but they had poor driving records and didn't have driver's licenses. (Philly.com)
The following related article is cross posted from the Violence Worker.
The New Sanctuary Movement is a collection of Christian Churches along with some Synagogues, Muslims and Sikhs that have pledged to:• Take a public, moral stand for immigrants’ rights
• Reveal, through education and advocacy, the actual suffering of immigrant workers and families under current and proposed legislation
• Protect immigrants against hate, workplace discrimination, and unjust deportationTheir intent is to harbor, in their various sanctuaries, illegal immigrant families facing deportation.
Of course they realize that such action is illegal and irrelevant. Religious sanctuary has never been recognized in the United States -- at least not officially. One only needs to look at the storming of the Koresh compound in Texas as an example.
The bottom line is that if the government wants them, all they have to do is issue a warrant and the marshals will be in your church with handcuffs at the ready. The government would try to avoid that, but if push came to shove, the feds would come knocking with a warrant in hand and there ain't a priest, imam, rabbi, or shaman that is going to legally stop them.
In most cases, these churches don't even know the backgrounds of these people. Some could be felons. I'm not saying every Muslim illegal immigrant is a savage jihadi, but three of the Fort Dix Six were here illegally.
This from KOMO-TV Seattle:
"Arrests by ICE (the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency) over the last few months ... seem by many of us designed to create a culture of fear," said Rev. Robert Taylor of St. Mark's. "We're talking about separation of families. That is not a family value that most of us want to be associated with."Boo Hoo. We are talking anchor babies. Illegals who come here and have kids born here.
It's a choice. These people have chosen to come here and break the law. We have a right to our borders and a say in who comes here legally. The come here, knowingly breaking the law, and have a kid. They also know that the consequense can include deportation and that means the kid gets shuffled off into the foster care program. It's not the government being mean, it's people making wrong choices; choosing to break the law.
The brand of Christianity I subscribe to teaches personal responsibility. My bible teaches me to submit to the laws of my country. Sure, it's a lot easier submitting in a country like the USA, but when Jesus told us to render unto Caesar, there was no such place as the USA.
ICE needs to arrest some of these folks in a church to show them that a church is no refuge from the law.

Ortho, terrorism must be fought at every level, local communities all the way up to the Federal Government.
If our borders are not secure, it leave us open for terrorists to cross the border.
If our visa program is not run properly, that leaves us open to terrorism.
If individuals riding trains, buses, planes are not vigilant, then we might miss the chance to stop a terror attack.
Some of the September 11 terrorists were illegals, overstayed visas, had been ticketed by law enforcement, and yet never stopped in their tracks before being allowed to commit their crimes.
Terrorism is number one to me. But crime in general is important also. Illegal aliens commit crimes, and because they live in sanctuary communities, the police don't always go after them. This is so wrong.
The way we are allowing sanctuary communities for Muslims is also creating future problems for us. In some instances they insist on living by their Islamic laws to the exception of U.S. law. This also is wrong and also allows for communities where terrorists can live, train and plot.
So my point would be, everything is suspect, nothing should be over looked.
I look forward to your newest articles.

Debbie, I read your posts on the Fort Dix Six with great interest. I find your fetizhization of their illegal immigrant status fascinating. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, that you're suggesting unenforced U.S. immigration policies make America vulnerable to terrorist attacks. In addition, you suggest that illegal immigrants are prone to commit terrorist attacks. I, do not confine my suspicions to illegal immigrants, I think everyone is a potential terrorist.
I find the foiling of the Fort Dix Six of most interest. A clerk at a local Circuit City turned them into the police. The clerk turned in the six after they requested to have a DVD of mock jihadi activity burned.
The story of the Fort Dix Six has more to do with counterterrorism techniques than national immigration policy. The only way to defeat terrorism is at the local, microlevel, not at the national, legislative level. Daily vigilance in our daily lives shall defeat terrorism. U.S. citizens not the U.S. government shall defeat terrorists and prevent terrorism.
Thanks for the link to my Arcade Fire post. I look forward to reading more of your thoughtful posts.

Sounds to me like the Duka family was making the best use they could of the US system, while avoiding paying anything into it.
Not surprising, since Islam does not hold with paying taxes to non-Islamic gov't's.
These bozos need deportation. Or a chance to duke it out with the fine folks at Fort Dix, who I am sure could solve the problem...
