TV, the breaking point for Venezuela
Thousands are marching in the streets of Venezuela against the closing of TV network Radio Caracas Television, or RCTV. Someone is spreading the rumor that the United States is behind those marching, encouraging them to turn against Hugo Chavez in hopes of possible regime change in Venezuela.
Organizations, journalists, students, activists and intellectuals in Venezuela accused the national and international media of waging a campaign against Venezuela and of supporting destabilization plans that have been carried out in the country in the past few days. According to declarations made by various groups and individuals, the RCTV protests and media coverage of them have a hidden agenda directed by the United States and their Venezuelan allies to destabilize the country. The stated reasosn for canceling RCTV is its support for the coup that briefly overthrew Chavez five years ago. If this really is the reason, what took Chavez so long?
Charlie Hardy in Pacific Free Press says, "Don't Cry for Venezuela's RCTV."
U.S. newspapers seem to overlook what Venezuela used to be like as they today discuss the actions of the current government. I have lived in Venezuela for most of the past 22 years and have never experienced such freedom as that which the Venezuelan population enjoys today under Hugo Chavez.
R.J. Godlewski says, "Shish. That strange sound that you hear is the House of Chavez slowly collapsing into the Caribbean tide as all sandcastles are wont to do."
First, there is the need for witnesses – as befitting any crime scene. In this regard we can flood the area with cameras and journalists. The Crew is finite and cannot be in all places at all times. Secondly, we can distribute survival instructions to the Venezuelan people. Like I said, they’re a special breed and know fact from fiction, so our work is simple. We only need to get the information to them; they’ll know what to do with it once it is within their hands. (R.J. Godlewski, read it all here)
Today the US State Department issued a travel warning for Venezuela, urging US citizens not to visit there. I call that telling us what we already know.
After all the Venezuelan people have been through under Chavez, who knew shutting down a TV station could get them in the streets?

Mr. BART JONES,
My Father is 57 years old, my Mom is 52 (both were born here in Venezuela) and they pretty much have seen a lot of Presidents, a lot of situations, Democracy and Dictatorship, they have seen good and bad times, and they both agree that this President has been the Worst… He has built in some Venezuelan’s hearts “hate” and “envy”.
Mr. Jones, I am sure that you know that Chavez participated in a coup against Carlos Andres Perez (President of Venezuela back then)… In Venezuela we say do not do to other what you don’t want they do to you… If he says that those that try to revoke his Presidency on 2002 are Criminals, then CHAVEZ IS A CRIMINAL AS WELL!!!
Chavez Do not help the poor people, He wants the people to live, think and do what he wants, He is not really against the rich people, He is against the Knowledge, the freedom, and the Time… He wants to have a Presidency like his friends Fidel and Hussein; they lived like King while the people were dying.
- Ignorance is the best weapon for the socialism
- Fear is the word of trust for the socialism
- Silence is the best way to say what you want under the socialism
- Dependency to the Government is the plan of Chavez to stay in Power.
Sir, you really need more that 8 years to understand our needs, our thoughts and believes… You need more that 8 years to tell my parents that Venezuela is having the best President ever… You need more than 8 years living in Venezuela to believe what you just said in your comment…
- My Country’s name is Venezuela an Not “Republica Bolivariana de Venezuela”
- My Flag has 7 stars an not 8 as he change it
- We have de right to watch, eat and dress what WE want
Please don’t tell me Chavez is the solution because he has been our DESTRUCTION!!!!
I HAVE THE RIGHT TO WATCH WHAT I WANT, I HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK AGAINST THIS SOCIALISM GOVERNMENT AND I HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE!!!
“Sometimes Ignorance is a privilege”.
