Since the surge has been completed in Iraq and actually started their mission, I read headlines like these:

U.S. reports 68 al Qaeda militants killed in Iraq

Air Strikes Kill 17 Iraq Al Qaeda Fighters

Iraq Operations Kill, Capture Scores of Terrorists

US Says 34 Terrorists Killed in Offensives in Iraq

Al-Qaeda foreign fighter killed

But if you do a Google Search for 'Iraq killed', you get these results. What those results show is Americans killed. Not one result is for terrorists killed, or insurgents killed, or al-Qaeda killed. Only entries for American or British, or innocent civilians killed.

I guess it's all in what you put in the search box?

On another note, the US is not planning to close Guantanamo Bay. They are going to send some of the detainees to a prison in Afghanistan. I'm not sure what I think about this yet, other than Afghanistan is better than bringing them to the United States where the civil liberties crowd would insist on giving them all the rights of American citizens.

Hi Debbie! I agree with Stormwarning. The U.S. military does not have enough troops in Iraq. He is right on the money.

I can always have hope, guys. Brad, your assumption is a really good one, and I hope you are right. But I think maybe Stormwarning could be right on this one.

It seems the Iraqi military and police are tipping off neighborhoods before the surge troops arrive, etc. That doesn't sound good.

Actually Brad, there are some REAL experts who contend that one of the reasons we still have problems in Iraq and that the Iraqi army isn't ready stand-up, is their limited numbers and relatively poor equipment (according to one of my credible sources, they weren't equipped with new "stuff").

Of course my favorite missle defense has always been "blowing theirs up while they are still on the ground" followed closely by "blowing up the factory that makes them."

I recently realized how the MSM hasn't been coming out with any stories lately about the readiness and level of training of Iraqi forces...which makes me think that things must be going pretty well. No news is good news and you KNOW they won't put out any good news.

We do not have the number of troops required to succeed in Iraq, even with the surge. It may be a debatable point, but my military associate(s) agree with that assessment, regardless of what is written in whichever public source.
