Debate on the immigration bill resumes

The Senate is set to vote as early as Tuesday. Bipartisan members can't wait to push the immigration bill through, while opponents will do everything they can to stop the bill. We can't depend on our politicians in Washington, and many states are taking the burden upon themselves to pass much needed legislation.

“We’re going to use every effort to slow this process down and continue to hold up the bill and read it to the American people and show them that even though they may favor the ideals of the legislation, that the legislation won’t get us there,” Senator Jeff Sessions, Republican of Alabama and a leading opponent, said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” (The Caucus- NYT)

Trapper John at Daily Kos, makes the Progressive case against the immigration bill:

And when you look at it closely, it's a bill that progressives ought to vigorously oppose.

In fact, this immigration bill is an historically bad bill, one that will undermine wage markets and which will permanently cripple skills training in vital sectors of the economy. (read more)

Captain's Quarters: States: Immigration Front Line

The Washington Post reports that anti-illegal immigration legislation has more than doubled this year in state legislatures, and likely will increase even faster throughout 2007. State efforts to control illegal immigration do not get many headlines, but several states have enacted or are considering strong measures to deter illegals from remaining inside state borders, if not national.

The BEST Illegal Immigration Message, according to Flanders Fields, is this one at Americans for Legal Immigration.

Immigration: beyond demonstrating the human face, Happenings Here:

The debate brings all its hidden racist trolls into the light, while its corporate poohbahs drool over "reform" as a chance to import slave labor. Nobody is satisfied; everyone goes away mad.

Support Falling For Immigration Bill, Reflections by J. Schenone:

Democrats are taking hits from their normal allies who say the bill is bad for workers.

BOYCOTT BUSH REPUBLICANISM!!

Immigration bill makes strange bedfellows with Daily Kos.

Just remember from this point on Debbie that when they start talking warm and fuzzie about Bipartisan support remember this day.

It's not normal for Conservatives To Be Warm And Fuzzie with Liberals, this should be a teaching point that it's not normal for both parties to be Bipartisan usually means no good for any of the population when that happens.
