Immigration bill dying, no life support available
We have a broken immigration system because American law enforcement and ICE have failed to enforce laws on the books. Period. The latest Senate attempt to force amnesty down our throats is taking it's last breath, doctors are ready to pronounce the time of death and cremate the remains. Credit goes to hard working groups like Numbers USA, Grassfire.org, Coalition Against Illegal Immigration, Guard the Borders, and more.
The Roll Call is here, go take a look.
President George W. Bush has lost his marbles on immigration, the war on terror, the war in Iraq, North Korea, Iran, ... The Republicans lost seats and the majority in 2006 because of President Bush and his complete failure to listen to the people who put him in office.
Arizona Senator John McCain's backing of the two latest immigration bills is part of the reason he is falling in the polls. Other reasons are the strange way he has been acting lately. I think he's lost it. Now it has cost him a county chairman in South Carolina.
David Nix told McCain spokesman Adam Temple he was quitting as county chairman after getting an e-mail from Temple about McCain's debate performance Tuesday. [snip]Nix says he was resigning because he was far from McCain on what Nix calls the amnesty bill. He said McCain can not read the pulse of American citizens.
The politicians just don't get it.
AngusReid says that "Adults in Mexico are split" on the United States Immigration Bill. What? Mexicans are split on this too?
.. according to a poll by Reforma. 50 per cent of respondents think a bill is not likely to be approved by the end of this year, while 47 per cent believe it can be done.

Great point Nick. I had not heard the term palaeo-con until this post. I consider myself a Conservative.

Neo con or palaeo-con - does it really matter? What matters, surely, is which beliefs are correct, and which arguments are true or not.
Let us not get into a mud-slinging or attack the man, but let us address what he has to say on its merits. That way, we will most likely find out that the divisions we put up between ideologies (neo-con, neo-liberal, paleo-con, etc.) are imagined and that we are actually making different claims about different things.

Steve, you make an excellent point that I have failed to stress here at Right Truth. Thank you so much.
This bill is not fair at all to people who have been in line for year after year, trying to do things legally. We appreciate each one of these people. They respect our laws. This bill is not fair at all.
Thanks again and I will check out the link you provide.

Legal, skilled immigrants have been given a very raw deal by the senators in favor of illegal immigrants and those with family ties in this "compromise" immigration bill. Please visit http://immigrationvoice.org to have a better understanding of our plight.
We pay ALL the taxes that citizens pay: social security, Medicare tax, property tax….you name it. Since IRS considers us permanent residents for tax purposes we enjoy taxation without representation for 10+years.
There are hundreds of thousands of higher skilled, highly educated professors, doctors, scientists, high tech workers who have been languishing in legal limbo for 5-8 years due to huge green card backlogs. These legal immigrants contribute to the US economy and make America competitive in this era of globalization. This "Comprehensive" immigration reform (CIR) proposes very little or nothing to clear these huge back logs. Instead, it proposes to punish the legal immigrants by REDUCING the number of available green cards for employment based immigration.
American citizens would decide what should be done with illegal immigrants. We have no grudges against them. For us it is a question of justice and fair play. . People who broke the laws would get a Z visa in 24 hours. This Z visa is a de-facto instant green card since it would allow the beneficiary to work for any employer without any restriction or labor certification. Whereas, the legal immigrants after going through tortuous paper work for several years are unable to change employers for 8- 10 years because of the green card backlogs.
Finally, the bill dramatically boosts Family migration while IGNORING people ALREADY living and working in this country. This is again due to vote bank politics, not to establish justice.
I hope American public understands the unfairness of this all.

Steve,
You are wrong budrow, if you really are a true paleo-con, which is a Conservative that dispises Israel and sucks up on the palestinian side of the issue than you and I budrow are at odds against each other.
You Paleo-cons always describe other True Conservatives the Ronald Reagan Conservatives as Neo-Cons.
Go ahead and spin some more spinmeister.

Steve, I've never thought of myself as a neocon, so I may be a paleocon. I thought Bush was great at the beginning of his presidency, but the last few years ... Not at all.
Rosemary, I hope you are wrong. No way this can get into the Defense Appropriations bill

It may surprise you what I am about to say, because I am discovering that a lot of conservatives don't know the difference between a neocon and a paleocon.
Bush is a neocon - which is a liberal that has turned into a conservative.
Only problem is, he wasn't put in the microwave for the full cooking period.
Bush sickens paleocons to the core.
So, if you're a neocon, you're scratching your head wondering why I am against Bush so much lately.
If you're agreeing with me, and you despise Bush the way I do, congratulations, you are a paleocon.
Trust me, there is a HUGE difference between the two.

Do not count on that. I would not trust Reid under any circumstance. I have an awful feeling they may try to attach it to the Defense Appropriations bill. We cannot let up now! Keep calling. Ask, "WHERE'S THE FENCE?" lol.
