The Democrats are waging a battle against Fred Thompson. Reader and tireless opponent of illegal aliens, Mary Chamberlain, forwarded copies of emails she received from the Democratic Party. Here's just a portion, see for yourself:
Remember the Republican culture of corruption? The revolving door of Republican politicians moving in and out of top political offices and Washington D.C. lobbying firms? That's Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson. For years, acting wasn't the Law & Order star's profession -- it was a hobby. In the real world, Thompson has made a fortune in a decades-long career as a Washington lobbyist. And just this month, as part of his role as the ultimate Washington insider, Thompson offered to host yet another fundraising event for Scooter Libby's legal defense fund.
Thompson has been vocal in his support of Libby, saying that he would "absolutely" pardon him.
As he runs for president, he'll try his hardest to hide the truth from the American people. And we need to stop him. Support our efforts to get the truth out about Fred Thompson:
http://www.democrats.org/StopTheAct [snip]While the Democratic presidential candidates hit the campaign trail, we'll be hitting the Republicans. It's our job to tell the American people the facts about opponents like Fred Thompson and to hold them accountable.
We can't finish that job without you. I hope you'll join us.Sincerely,
Tom McMahon

Mary Chamberlain also received an email from the Republican party, asking her to work for him. As I told you earlier, Ms. Chamberlain is spending all her time working against the present immigration bill. Thanks goodness for people like her!
Many voters are fed up with the Democrats and the Republicans, saying "a pox on both their houses." But we have to vote for someone. Why are the Democrats so against Fred Thompson? He's not even running yet. When he does announce, the Democrats will increase their campaign against him.
The Democrats know that Republicans are not happy with any of the present candidates. They know that Fred Thompson says what he means, and means what he says. They fear Fred Thompson, plain and simple. They are afraid he will WIN in 2008. All the more reason to get behind Fred Thompson. That's my opinion.

I worry more about a setup between the leftist leadership of both parties. There are many ways a candidacy can be compromised by their collusion. They are intent on Hillary winning and I mistrust the leadership of the Republicans and worry about Thompson's CFR and Gore background. That said, I would vote for a CPUSA member before I would for a democrat and will vote for the Republican candidate no matter who they are, until such time as there is a viable alternative.
As to SB 1348, it seems to be expanding potential immigrants with "partner" provisions added, in addition to spouse and other catagories. Just forget a bill and let the American people send them back on our own. Just let the government stand back out of the way.

"For years, acting wasn't the Law & Order star's profession -- it was a hobby. In the real world, Thompson has made a fortune in a decades-long career as a Washington lobbyist."
The Demoncraps have a lot of room to squeek on that, look at Senator Harry Reid who both of his Sons are Lobbying Congress, that is about as illegal as it comes. It's Illegal for anyones sons, brothers, sisters, any kind of relation to be Lobbying Congress when ones own relation is a part of Congress.
The Libs are barking up the wrong tree on this one and if they keep pushing that on Fred Thompson he's liable to hand their heads to them on a platter.
Yea Go Fred Go.

Me think they protest too much; so I think Fred is the ONE. Now Run Fred Run!! We got your back. Great post Debbie and fantastic work Mary. Ah, I feel a surge of Conservatism coming on and I like it. The Dems are running scared, now, let us keep them running. I hear the Mexican border is wide open!!

Great article, Debbie; found it and voted for it on RCP. I like Thompson; I'd like to see more though and still am a little nervous about possible skeletons. But he would whoop Hillary. However, I think Newt would more...and Newt has a LOT of reasons to. ;)
As for the comment below this one, the bill is DOA, because the fact is it is un-American; even anti-American. Psychologists have a term for a key ingredient for healthy relationships: boundaries. In this case, not only borders but putting the needs of Americans ahead of foreign nationals, particularly foreign nationals who have already demonstrated a disregard for our laws, many of whom who have graduated on to bigger things like rape, murder, and robbery will get to take part in the amnesty too. Boundaries: what a beautiful choice. I’m pro-life: I’m pro boundaries.

If the Democrats are in fact working that hard to stop Senator Thompson, then he must be a real candidate.
HOWEVER, I write this comment because of the link to Is This Another Loophole in Senate Bill 1348? "Other than a native of Mexico", from The Virtuous Republican. The presumptions made in that post are nothing but...well (I won't say what I really think).
Here is the comment I left for the Virtuous Republican:
"Aside from anything else, this section of the Bill is intended specifically to deal with the problem of OTMs entering this country illegally. Add to that the fact that the Section 131 is a mere part of a total bill.
Aside from anything else, you wrote:
Since most illegals are from Mexico, isn't this section of the law, which is titled "Mandatory Detention", being waved for Mexican citizens? Therefore, isn't this section, while seeming to enforce the law, exempting about 95% of the problem population? In other words, this bill is meaningless, meant to fool the masses into thinking our southern border is being secured. Who is the Senate and the President beholden to, a "national of Mexico" or you and me, citizens of the United States?
The resounding answer to your question is NO! It doesn't mean anything like what you wrote, or now, what other people are spreading. Total misrepresentation of fact."
