Thank you Hamas, and other Muslim news
Thank you Hamas for showing your true colors to the world, again. You wage a deadly attack and coup on Fatah, and yesterday Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, former prime minister of the Palestinian government dismissed by President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah, has the nerve to call for renewed talks between the factions. However, Abbas isn't falling for your line. It could be that Abbas remembers that nasty assassination attempt you tried, hmm?(Reuters)
"The way out of the current situation is launching a Palestinian dialogue without pre-conditions," Haniyeh told the Yemeni president by phone.Haniyeh said these talks should be held "on the basis of no loser and no winner, and on the basis of no harm to anyone, and on the basis of a national unity government," according to Haniyeh's office.
Perhaps Hamas should have tried the "no harm to anyone" tactic when they first got elected. Some are talking a three state solution now, but MUNICH - AND A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING (and Chicago Tribune) says the three state solution is "no path to peace."
The US decision to back Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas in the recent turmoil virtually guarantees an escalation in violence. Abbas has installed an unelected "emergency" government to replace the democratically elected Hamas-led national unity government. [snip]Intra-Palestinian dialogue without outside interference, and South Africa or Northern Ireland-style peace talks aimed at ending all forms of military occupation, inequality and discrimination, with strong outside support, may yet save the situation.
The situation for women, children, Christians, and anyone not in favor of a taliban-like rule, are feeling the negative results of the Hamas takeover in Gaza. Pseudo-Adrienne reports:
JERUSALEM (WOMENSENEWS)--Amid rising lawlessness, violence and radicalization in the Gaza Strip--and a deterioration of general human rights--women's rights activists are bracing for an escalation of street and other potential harassment. [snip]"We don't know what rules apply here; not only as women, as Palestinians." [Gaza-based civil rights and women's activist Lama Hourani}
The article goes on to discuss the rising wave of violence, honor killing tolls rising, widows and orphans, and the obvious civil war. On the subject of the civil war between Hamas and Fatah, was this the result of plans set in motion by Israel? Missing Link via New Yorker in D.C. (Reuters) reports:
Mohammed Dahlan, seemingly politically unfazed by the recent events, said in a Reuters interview that Hamas "fell into a trap" laid by Israel when it took control of the Gaza Strip. There isn't any elaboration on how the trap was set, and certainly there isn't any indication of Dahlan's role or that of anyone else in particular.
How much have things changed for Islam and the west over the years? Not much according to Michael P.F. van der Galiën.
Marc Schulman published a post at The Moderate Voice, “section (pages 24-34) of the very first of the intelligence reviews published by the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S. War Department,” which “identified Islam as a threat to world stability.” This was - as Marc points out - written “23 years before the Iranian Revolution and 55 years before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.” It is fascinating to see that the situation has - basically - not changed much and that the negative predictions have become true. The entire intelligence review can be read here. Here is before mentioned section in its entirety:
Foehammer's Anvil also reports:
[snip] What follows Schulman’s introduction should be required reading:[snip]According to its authors, Islamic countries were “full of discontent and frustration” and were aware of their “inferiority.” These feelings manifested themselves in “killings and terrorism,” which were reported in “daily news accounts.” The analysts knew about the feud between the Sunnis and Shi’a. They also knew about Wahhabism and the Muslim Brotherhood.
Take note of "The Taliban's 6 Year Old Suicide Bomber" at The American Israeli Patriot, via The Guardian:
All in the name of Allah.Would he even know what to do with the all the virgins?
Children as young as six are being used by the Taliban in increasingly desperate suicide missions, coalition forces in Afghanistan claimed yesterday. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), to which Britain contributes 5,000 troops in southern Afghanistan, revealed that soldiers defused an explosive vest which had been placed on a six-year-old who had been told to attack Afghan army forces in the east of the country.
Also take note, Iran Leads the World in Executing Children, according to Sugiero:
As far as I know, Ahmadinejad is silent (Hat tip: Zaneirani):Iran is known to have executed at least 17 juvenile offenders since the beginning of 2004 – eight times more than any other country in the world
So thank you Hamas, Fatah, Taliban, al-Qaeda, and all other Muslim terrorist groups for showing your true colors throughout history. May the world take notice and act accordingly. and may we hear more information like the following:
There is now a Council of Ex-Muslims. Rastaman has the details:
Launch of the Council of ex-Muslims of BritainThe Council of ex-Muslims of Britain is building on the stunning success of other branches already operating in Germany, Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.
The British Humanist Association and National Secular Society are sponsoring the launch and support the new organisation. The Council will provide a voice for those labelled Muslim but who have renounced religion and do not want to be identified by religion. (more)
No Apology says:
Michael Yon believes General Petraeus, if anyone, can rout Al Queda from Diyala Province. Read more of his extraordinary dispatches here.
Don't miss Symposium: Strategies of Death at FrontPag Magazine which discusses "evolving jihadi strategies."

Hamas has been blatting away about how they were "democratically elected" ever since they showed how repressive they are, after the elections, as if that gave them the right to be the monsters they are and to remain in power.
I'm betting the Palestinians stuck in Gaza who voted for Hamas are kicking their own rears, about now. What they were voting for was an end to the corruption rampant in Fatah, NOT for being plunged into poverty, war, misery and death.
This is like our own recent election. We voted for less corruption in our own government. We didn't get it. Elections are meaningless unless those voted into power care more about the people than they do their own agendas.
There will never be a Palestinian state because they will never recognize Israels right to exist, and Israel will never be stupid enough to grant an arch enemy total autonomy within its own borders.
The very existence of Israel in the Middle East is so reviled by the Islamists that a final war between these opponents is inevitable.

on the basis of no loser and no winner, and on the basis of no harm to anyone
--
That's the same sort of "negotiating" platform the PA tries to use, after they incite terrorism and and get whooped by an Israeli response...
Oh, well, it's OK then, because we'll just pretend it didn't happen.
These people need to grow up.

Martin, where does Saudi Arabia fit in? You know they can't sit by and watch, ... or can they?

First I'd be working this to ensure Iran backs one and Syria the other. Then I'd get them to escalate turning it into an outright confict between Iran and Syria, then maybe Russia and China while finally it becomes our turn to sit and watch. I know... the stuff of crackheads, but I can dream! ;)

If the world cannot see that we are fighting an ideology - that Hamas would destroy Israel in a heartbeat, then we are all in real trouble - if not already.
