45 Muslim doctors plot terror in America
A group of 45 Muslim doctors threatened to use car bombs and rocket grenades in terrorist attacks in the United States during discussions on an extremist internet chat site," according to The Telegraph
Police found details of the discussions on a site run by one of a three-strong "cyber-terrorist" gang. They were discovered at the home of Younis Tsouli, 23, Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London heard.
One message read: "We are 45 doctors and we are determined to undertake jihad and take the battle inside America.
"The first target which will be penetrated by nine brothers is the naval base which gives shelter to the ship Kennedy." This is thought to have been a reference to the USS John F Kennedy, which is often at Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida.
The message discussed targets at the base, adding: "These are clubs for naked women which are opposite the First and Third units."
It also referred to using six Chevrolet GT vehicles and three fishing boats and blowing up petrol tanks with rocket propelled grenades.
Investigators have found no link between the Tsouli chat room and the group of doctors and medics currently in custody over attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.
However, sources said it was "definitely spooky" that the use of doctors for terrorist purposes was being discussed in jihadi terrorist circles up to three years ago.
Top Al-Qaeda Leader Calls for Jihadists To Kill More Savagely, Webloggin
Sheikh Hussein bin Mahmoud, a senior Al-Qaeda member is criticizing fellow jihadists for being too nice to their sworn enemy in the war against the west.
‘May Allah Send Someone Who Will Kill Them Even More [Savagely]… Tear Their Hearts Out… Cut Their Heads Off, Tear Them Limb From Limb, and Shed Their Blood in Rivers’ (src. MEMRI)
Peace and Freedom says "Our Declaration of Independence separates us from terrorists and asks if we could by handicapped by our values.
We Americans believe that man, in fact all mankind, has an expectation, a right, to life. We believe this is an “unalienable right,” in fact a sacred right not granted by man but by a higher power, our Creator and incapable of repudiation. The right to life cannot be taken by another man.The terrorists don’t believe we, or any man, apparently, has an expectation to life. The terrorist have shown that they can commit, intend to commit and are committed to intentional, indiscriminate killing of innocent strangers. [snip]
... the west, must consequently alter the way we view and wage this war on terror in the future. (more)
Indeed. Curt at Flopping Aces points out Zawahiri's words in his video this week:
Al-Qaida’s deputy chief called on all Muslims to join the holy war against the West.“May Allah pluck out your eye if you haven’t yet seen that jihad is an individual duty,” the transcript quoted al-Zawahri as saying.
Yes readers, there's a big difference in the enemy and America (and other Western countries), no matter what their profession, even if they are doctors. .

The book Leaderless Jihad sounds right on target. I have not read it.

Thanks everybody for your comments. I hear this morning that two of the UK doctors tried to get hired in the US, but apparently were turned down. Good for America.

Ah yes, the religion of peace 'o you know what.
I was listening to a local radio talk show and a Cuban/American doctor called in who said that he was in NY (during his residency) and that after 9/11 happened all the Muslim fellow residents were elated at what happened. He spoke of how he believes many are probably ready and willing to join the cause.
Sigh.

Debbie:
Thanks for posting this information. Nothing short of an immigration ban from countries that sponsor terrorism should be put in place immediately. I can’t add much more to the fine comments already posted here. I will, however, read Marc Sageman's Leaderless Jihad.

The concept of "system, not organization" (or nizam, la tanzim) based on the treatise of Abu Mus'ab al-Suri, relative to the spread of al Qaeda has been discussed in counterterrorism circles since last Spring (Jihadist groups develop a template to allow them to create structures wherever they are, and carry out recruitment, fund-raising and attacks).

Further, the concept of disaffected youths being drawn to jihad (as discussed in Leaderless Jihad) is quite consistent with the "Terrorists are made, not born" scenario.

I will however seek out Sageman's two books and see if I can find any free time to read them.

Debbie, this story makes
Marc Sageman's _Leaderless Jihad: Terror Networks in the Twenty-First Century_, more and more relevant. By the end of the year, _Leaderless Jihad_ shall become required reading for all interested in counterterrorism.

I wonder what people read when expressing surprise over the jihadi threat to the U.S.?
I don't know who Laura Mansfield is, I've never read her work. But since I do read materials written by experts...is she an expert that I've missed? It my business to say ontop of things like this (well, not actually my business - yet - but certainly its is my avocation).
Only fools believe that another (attempted) attack on the U.S. will not occur.

I posted on this atrocity earlier this afternoon. It is quite disgusting and really shocking.

I find myself being so anxious over this threat...I know it's coming yet America seems satisfied to just wait and see.
We have to become as ruthless as they are!

I think you could be right, Bill T. I saw Laura Mansfield on Fox this morning. She monitors all the jihadi sites. She says there will be another attack inside the U.S., it's just a matter of time. Robert Spencer says the same thing.

I have the feeling that by late summer or early fall, we'll be reopening the debate on how serious a threat Jihadis really are.
I think bad things are afoot right now here, and in the hot spots.
