At the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, Scotland, a controlled detonation of a vehicle is underway. The bomb disposal unit is on scene at this hospital. At least two of the terror suspects are described as medical doctors. Another suspect vehicle was found yesterday.
... Mohammed Asha, a Lebanese who works for the North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke. Neighbors said Asha, 26, lived with his wife and baby boy in Chesterton, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffs. The Sun newspaper, however, said the doctor was Iranian. (source)
UPDATE: The second doctor arrested is Bilal Abdullah who is an Iraqi, trained in Iraq. (Sky News)
The reporting on terror in Glasgow and London has moved from 'disaffected Asians who couldn't find their rear-end with both hands, to a "well-coordinated operation stretching from Scotland to southern England", involving highly educated professionals. The plan was for the car bomb outside Tiger Tiger to explode, injuring and/or killing patrons of the nightclub. Then as patrons rushed to mass transit, there would potentially be more injuries when the second car exploded.
Scotland Yard's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke earlier stated that the attacks "resonated with previous plots." Last year, a British-born Muslim convert named Dhiren Barot was sentenced to 40 years in jail for plotting attacks on the U.K. A 39-page list of possible targets and methods that Barot prepared for his al-Qaeda contacts included a plot he dubbed the Gas Limos Project. This proposed using propane gas cylinders and fuel to turn stretch limos into mobile bombs that could then be left in parking lots underneath key buildings. (TIME)
Whether the Glasgow Scotland and London terror cell were connected to al-Qaeda, as the most recent intelligence suggests, or some other group, their common denominator is Islam and the Qur'an. They were not disaffected youths, at least two were well educated professionals, medical doctors, (trained in Georgia???). This brings to mind the different organizations connected to Islamic terror, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah, and Hizb ut-Tahrir.
While Israelis are preoccupied with threats from Hamas, Iran, Hizbullah, Syria and even al-Qaida, they pay almost no attention to a large, widespread Islamist movement whose goal is to establish a caliphate on the lands "occupied by Zionists."Hizb ut-Tahrir, or the Party of Liberation, is totally unknown to most Israelis. This Sunni pan-Islamic Party, which has more than a million members in at least 40 countries, is becoming increasingly popular in the Arab world. [snip]
Britain has turned into a perfect base for Hizb ut-Tahrir operations abroad, whose goal is radicalization of Muslims all over the world, especially in the Palestinian Authority and in Central Asia.
Although Hizb ut-Tahrir does not admit to employing violent means of "persuasion" such as those used by Hamas and Osama Bin Laden, it does use terrorism as a tool, assisting other "holy warriors."
The British suicide bombers who killed three people and wounded more than 15 at Mike's Place in Tel Aviv in April 2003 were recruited by Hizb ut-Tahrir for Hamas, according to The New York Sun. [snip]
Unlike many Islamist movements, whose funding from abroad can be cut off at any time, Hizb ut-Tahrir's support comes from Western countries, where their activities are monitored, but not banned. The Party of Liberation is waiting for the right opportunity to come out from the shadows and replace the current dominant Palestinian factions. (JP via Israel & Palestine)
Now we are hearing that the United States is bracing for a large terror attack this summer:
A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document. (ABC)
Robert Spencer is Blogging the Qur’an at Hot Air. I suggest we all follow this and learn what the Qu'ran truly teaches.
Robert Spencer read the Qur’an for the first time in 1981 and has been studying it and the Islamic traditions and teachings that inform students of the Qur’an ever since.Highlights this week include why the life of a Jew or a Christian is worth less than that of a Muslim, and the endpoint of jihad warfare. (Smooth Stone)
The story in Scotland and London is still developing rapidly. Updates to come.

I wrote about it, but does anyone know what the H1B is, and why it's important?

Bill T, of course you are correct. Most of us who blog are already familiar with what Islam teaches. I think this little series at Hot Air and jihad Watch is a good start for those who are not at all familiar.
Layla, there is a third doctor now, possibly from India.
Angel, they won't listen anyway.

"I suggest we all follow this and learn what the Qu'ran truly teaches."
I purchased a Quran in March and read it twice. It is informative, but of little use without the context of Shari' a and the haddiths.

I just mentioned the connection about the two doctors in one of my updates. Fox News is reporting that the one is from Baghdad, but they are not yet saying if he is an Iraqi national or not.
