Once upon a time, a fair maiden was stranded at a deserted intersection. Her transportation had failed, she was all alone. She did not know that she had actually arrived at an appointment, a meeting that was written in the stars, ... destiny.
In her hour of need, a handsome prince rode up on his trusty steed (motorcycle) and offered his assistance. Being young and trusting, the maiden opened the car door for the prince. He finally removed his armor and she could see the prince was a young, handsome man who was also strong, kind and gentle. Little did she know that this man would soon become the love of her life and her husband. The prince returned to his castle to retrieve his coach and escorted the maiden to her destination. The prince made an error by telling the maiden, "Give me a call sometime, I'm the first prince in the phone book." Insulted, the maiden thought, "How improper. No way I will be making this call. A gentleman always calls first." Little did the maiden know, that this relationship would continue. You can't deny destiny. The prince arrived at the maiden's castle later that evening. Ummmm. He was dressed in his finest, smelling delightful of Brut cologne. He humbly introduced himself again, and asked to come in and visit. The maiden, seeing his goodness of heart, invited him in. How could she deny this strong, handsome, gentle, kind, loving man? The prince would sing, play his guitar, and woo the maiden ... until she accepted his proposal of marriage. Three months later they were married. This love story had a wonderful beginning, and no ending, because ... they lived happily ever after. Here's the prince's version of events: As I pulled up to the red light, I noticed the car in the lane to my right was stalled. Even better, there was a beautiful creature sitting in the drivers seat. There is no doubt that if she had been fat and ugly with tattoos, she would still be sitting there at the light, but I knew I couldn’t let this one get away. I tooled around to the parking lot on the other side of her, approached the car, and while still wearing my full coverage crash helmet, she threw the door open for me. I could have been some kind of Nazi rapist or Muslim terrorist (oh we didn’t know the truth about Muslims back then), but she let me in anyway. “It just won’t start!” she exclaimed. And that’s how it all started. I pushed her car out of the road over to a nearby service station, went back home and got my car and took her to work, oh did I tell you I went over to see her that night after work? She was and still is the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, wearing a short brown dress with legs up to her neck. There is a song by the Dixie Chicks. One of the lines in it says, “Life began when I saw your face!” That’s the way it was for me. There is another song by Brad Paisley that declares, “And from that moment, there was never any doubt, I’d found the one that I’d always dreamed about.” She smelled so good. Her voice was so soft and sweet. The summer of 1972 was my summer of love. Our meeting was no accident. It was ordained by the Almighty. We were married on September 2, 1972, almost 35 years ago. Every day we thank each other for our love. I tell her that my loving her is just a natural thing, just like the sun coming up in the morning. There is no way that I could not lover her. She is constantly in my thoughts and in my mind. She is my soul mate and a part of me forever. And ever since the prince tells his friends, he picked up his wife on the side of the road.
May 25, 1972. It was the day that my life would change forever. It was a pleasant Thursday morning as I headed out for work on my motorcycle. I figured it would just be another routine day at the job.

Trust me folks. I was a lucky dog the day I found her on the side of the road.
