Iranians Admit Attacking Americans, sort of...
The commander of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards, commander-in-chief Yahya Rahim Safavi, made clear the Guards would not bow to U.S. pressure and would use all their leverage against the Americans, to deal heavier blows in future against the United States. (Reuters) That is as much of an admission as we will get from Iran.
Iran has threatened to strike U.S. regional interests if attacked over its nuclear program and Safavi has noted that Iranian missiles could hit warships operating anywhere in the Gulf and Oman Sea. [snip]The Revolutionary Guards are an ideologically driven force, who see themselves as a guardians of the Islamic Republic. They have a separate command structure from the regular military.
The Bush administration is considering sanctioning Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) for its terrorist-related activities. The Coucnterterrorism Blog says, "This designation could have a significant impact, as Iranian leaders are vulnerable to the types of "smart sanctions" that would result."
A terrorist designation for the Revolutionary Guards would mark the culmination of the administration's recent campaign to highlight the IRGC's dangerous activities. Speaking in Dubai in March 2007, U.S. under secretary of the treasury Stuart Levey warned, "When corporations do business with IRGC companies, they are doing business with organizations that are providing direct support to terrorism." In a July 2007 speech, Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson focused on the Revolutionary Guards, arguing, "The IRGC is so deeply entrenched in Iran's economy and commercial enterprises, it is increasingly likely that if you are doing business with Iran, you are somehow doing business with the IRGC."

Turkey, Iran and Pakistan are forming a trade alliance and Turkey is going to be the new energy and trade corridor for Iran and Pakistan. The Russians are upset about this because this threatens their access to Turkeys natural gas fields and the U.S. is upset as well because this greatly interferes with the U.S. efforts to isolate Iran. So far, only one obscure reporting agency, Earthtimes.org, has reported in on these sudden attacks by Iran and Turkey on Kurdish Iraq.

Sheik Muhammad Al-Munajid: This is a nation of monotheism, and this is the Islam that Allah wants to spread throughout the world, and to rule the land it its entirety. Allah wants this. He sent down the Koran and the hadith for that purpose.

Free speech and the University of Maryland
The mind boggles. A student buying food in the student union at UMD wearing a shirt saying "I stand for Israel" is denied service by a clerk who says, "Your shirt offends me, I won't ring you up." So was free speech defended on campus? [snip]Somehow, I suspect that a T-shirt expressing support for Palestinians would never encounter such difficulty, and if it did, the school would have the clerk apologize.

Good point Yankee Doodle. Rastaman at Islamanazi has been all over the Turkey situation. I'm sure he will be interested in the heroin angle.

"Turkey, Iran and Pakistan are forming a trade alliance and Turkey is going to be the new energy and trade corridor for Iran and Pakistan."
Heroin corridor is more like it -- the poppies are grown in Afghanistan, but Pakistan and Iran are major transshipment points on the way to Turkey.
Turkey is the marshalling point for sending the heroin to Europe.
Bush won't do anything for fear of antagonizing certain Arab friends of his, who profit from the whole operation.
Meanwhile, that funding helps support Al Qaeda, while the narcotics destroy infidel lives.
Bush is derelict in his duties.
