Methodist Church Goes Muslim
British Methodist Church Goes Islamic (The Christian Post)
Reflective of larger European trends, in which Islamic populations are burgeoning while Christians recede, an old Methodist church in Britain is now becoming a mosque.Significantly, the local Methodists supported the Islamization of the former Mt. Zion Methodist Church, which was preceded by a heated debate by the town planning committee over the zoning approval. Decades ago, the dwindling congregation abandoned the church, which afterwards became a factory for scarves exported to the Middle East.
"This is a basic issue of human rights," said the Rev. Christopher Cheeseman, superintendent minister of the Clitheroe Methodist Circuit, as quoted in the United Methodist News Service. "These are people of faith who wish to find a place to worship." Cheeseman urged the zoning commissioners to approve the mosque's permit, which they did by a vote of 7-5.
Opposition to the mosque in the small city of Clitheroe, in northern England, was portrayed as bigoted by some church officials. Clitheroe's population of 14,000 has 300 Muslims who plan to worship in the former Methodist Church.
By some estimates, there are now 1.6 million Muslims in Britain, though it's not certain how many of them are active mosque goers. The Methodist Church of Great Britain has declined to fewer 300,000 members. Regular church attendance in Britain is believed to be about only about 6 percent among the nominally Christian majority. [snip]
And do Christian leaders who celebrate the removal of the cross from a church in favor of the Islamic crescent really honor their own faith? Or have they succombed to a new religion in which politically correct multiculturalism has displaced the Deity?

Thank you. This is fantastic! Do you know what time Saturday (and today)? 37th District is MY district! I was sad about Juanita, even though she was a Democrat. Those things should not matter at those times. And they don't. Thanks.

Rosemary: Here's the email from Political Pistachio this morning, or you can visit his site. The show is on Saturday, but he leaves the archive up and playing all week long. The link to his site is in the article above:
Last Saturday Political Pistachio had Richard Michael Smith as a guest. Richard stated that Political Pistachio is building quite a reputation when it comes to Internet Radio. He may be right, if you judge it by the upcoming guests we are going to have.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, August 8, 2007) is a special mid-week edition of Political Pistachio Radio. Our guest will be John Kanaley. John is an Iraq War Veteran that actually voluntarily extended his tour so that he may serve in Baghdad. In 2003 he served for Central Command in Qatar and Iraq; in 2004 John served with the Theater Support Command in Kuwait with additional assignments in Iraq; In 2005 he served in Baghdad with the Civil-Military Operations to assist with the Iraqi elections as well as serving as a Team Chief for future plans in Strategy, Plans, and Assessments (SPA) with Multi-National Forces, Iraq (MNFI). His second tour ended in October 2006. The seat in the 37th Congressional District in California is vacant due to the death of Juanita Millernder-McDonald, who lost her battle with cancer in April. John Kanaley is campaigning as a Republican for the seat which will be decided by special election on August 21. In addition to his military career he has also served in the Long Beach Police Department with 16 years of service. His Army career spans over 22 years as active military, National Guard, and Reserves. In the Army he is a Lieutenant Colonel. His purpose for running for Congress, according to his site, is to add support in Congress for the War on Terror from somebody who served in Iraq, support the GOP in its effort to regain control of Congress in 2008, ensure the concerns of Long Beach, California are heard in Congress, make the tax cuts permanent, and promote business at all levels throughout his district.
Then on Saturday the wild and crazy (and great) Atlas Shrugs will grace us with her presence! We will talk with her about her V-logs, her experiences with past guests on her Blog Talk Radio show (such as Mark Steyn, Tom DeLay, Robert Spencer, and so on), and about the War on Terror! It will prove to be a fantastic broadcast - don't miss Political Pistachio when Atlas Shrugs pays us a visit!
God Bless,
Doug

What time is that radio show? I just love Atlas Shruggs. She is great, eh? Just like you are. *blush*
BTW, WTH?! (For the record, that means what the heck.) I am angry. I was raised in a Protestant/methodist Church. I did not capitalize the methodist because they are no longer Christians. Not the kind I would recognize anymore...This has been going on for a long time.
Some may disagree with me, but I do not believe women are to be pastors. Neither does the Bible! I do not believe adultorers, homosexuals, pedaphiles, thieves, (all practicing, of course) should be made the top person. If that is what they want, they are not following God.
Do you think I enjoy this? NO! I would love to become a Paster. IT IS NOT MY PLACE, therefore I try to please GOD the way HE wants me to. Period.
The only difference being, I don't walk around calling people names for their beliefs...A little telling, eh?

This is what happens when you preach "social justice" and zero doctrine from the pulpit.
