Islamic terrorists are embedded with, working with, and pretending to be -- Mexicans and Mexican drug cartels. This is not new, but we are just now hearing about it. This comes from a 2005 report which outlines an "ongoing scheme in which multiple Middle Eastern drug-trafficking and terrorist cells operating in the U.S. fund terror networks overseas, aided by established Mexican cartels with highly sophisticated trafficking routes." Hat tip nanc, at It's Curtains for You, via The Washington Times
Islamic extremists embedded in the United States — posing as Hispanic nationals — are partnering with violent Mexican drug gangs to finance terror networks in the Middle East, according to a Drug Enforcement Administration report. [snip]These terrorist groups, or sleeper cells, include people who speak Arabic, Spanish and Hebrew and, for the most part, arouse no suspicion in their communities.
"It is very likely that any future 'September 11th' type of terrorist event in the United States may be facilitated, wittingly or unwittingly, by drug traffickers operating on both sides of the United States-Mexico border," the DEA report says.--The Washington Times
I agree with The HILL's Pundit's Blog, when they say:
If ever a terrorist attack on U.S. soil is linked to weak border enforcement, the blood shed by innocent victims will indelibly stain the record of President George W. Bush. I hope he and his administration understand this. Moreover, the DEA report should become the cornerstone of every GOP presidential candidate running as the man best suited to protect the homeland from foreign invaders who wish us harm.
I also agree with Corruption Chronicles, A Judicial Watch Blog:
Unfortunately, this has not motivated various government intelligence agencies to cooperate with each other and gather and share information that could intercept a future attack. In fact, the report specifically states that the lack of information sharing is creating a blind spot on the war on terror and has left the country vulnerable to another attack.A separate intelligence report from the Department of Homeland Security says that the U.S. Border Patrol has failed to adequately protect the southern border, leaving the country vulnerable to Al Qaeda operatives who have tried to smuggle terrorists and weapons into the country through Mexico.

I'm glad to see everybody has made up.
Funkenstein, I would have to do an entire article to sufficiently respond to your comment. But one thing is for sure, this has nothing to do with "more dark skinned persons" as you suggest. I have friends from all colors and nationalities, and religions. Trust me, this is about legal vs illegal.

Oh Thomas! When you talk like that, you make my skin go all "goosebumpy" and stuff.

Ah, my dear friends, can't you see what is going on here?
For several decades we had as our enemies (still have) the Soviets and the Mainland Chinese, right? Now I'm sure that they know, as you all know, that a relatively large yield thermonuke, about 5 - 10 megatons, is about the size of a washer; much smaller in volume and mass than the tons of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin that finds it's way across our borders. And they had the advantage of being able to hire flunkies, Cubans for example, who would be able to blend in perfectly with all those who come across, and not arouse a bit of suspicion. One could bring a nuke across our borders every single day for YEARS! planting them virtually everywhere, power plants, dams, communication centers, government offices, and military bases. They could have struck without launching one missle, without sending one plane, without risking one sub.
Yet this never occurred.
The reason is that someone, somewhere in OUR hallowed halls of government is perfectly aware of who and what is crossing our borders.
And of course "they" are lawbreakers! We are all of us lawbreakers in some sense of the word! We may not rob and rape and pillage but a brief self reflection of your acts over any given time will show that all of us break the law when we find it convenient to do so. A little speeding there, a little tax cheat there, maybe some substance or equipment hidden away in our homes that we don't want anyone to see. We should be looking at the real lawbreakers, those who defile our communities with unAmerican behavior. It is these "traitors" who revile the Constitution and spit on the memory of anyone who has fought and/died for this nation. Do you really think that the spirits of those souls sacrificed on 9/11 would be proud to see what we do in their heroic memory?
I have my problems with this country, God knows, but my love and devotion to it (and not those who run it) is unwavering. It is utterly intolerable to me that I should view my fellow citizens with paranoid disdain; that I should fall back on the "lawbreaker" excuse to hide my fear and apprehension of those who look different than myself; that I should stand idly by and let ignorance and fear become the overwhemlming emotions of the day. All this meaningless worry about "illegals" is just what our enemies want us to do; take oureyes off the real danger and where that threat is coming from. I firmly believe that we are smarter than that, that we are better than that. We will not allow some goatherder living in a cave to be the social downfall of our nation. If we band together and focus our attentions on the real foe, we will prevail. Let him kill ten thousand, a hundred thousand, a million, I will never bow my head or bend my knee to Al Qaeda, or anyone else who foolishly attempts to fill my heart with terror. That's the America that I grew up in.
The Stalinsts have not taken over just yet, friends.

Those decent illegals being referenced above also have brought with them family members who are MS-13 gang members, among other gangs. Here in Houston the situation has progressively gotten worse. Crime is up. Middle Eastern illegals have been picked up at the Texas/Mexican border. I guess they just 'forgot' their paperwork.

Thanks everybody. Funkenstein, you make one good point, the September 11 bombers did not come across the southern border. But that doesn't mean that terrorists are not doing that. Border agents have arrested many Middle Eastern men over the past few years.
Sorry TypePad messed up and did multiple comments Steve. It just happened to you, but nothing personal. I've fixed the problem.

Funk: The illegals who you know should be arrested and deported. Other than that, I agree with Thomas...yeah! What he said!
Posted by: Stormwarning | August 08, 2007 at 10:11 PM
"The illegals I know are hard working, decent, church going persons."
but.......but...but, but, BUT!
They are still LAW BREAKERS. They broke our laws and violated our sovereignty.
Remember the rule of LAW?
Hmmmmmmm?
Sounds like a buncha funkenstein.

As much as we like to think that our problems with the border and the threat from "terrorism" are connected, one has only to look closely at what we know, instead of what someone tells us.
The homicidal maniacs who carried out the 9/11 attacks entered the US from Canada. The same is true of the "millenium bomber" who was caught trying to cross from Vancouver. They did not sneak across the southern border. This seems strange on the face of it; they are essentially "desert" people whose training in the remote wilderness of Afghanistan should have prepared them for such a journey. Yet, is it not strange that our elected officials have not sought to close or restrict our neighbor to the north?
The reason is simple: The drug runners and human smugglers know exactly who and precisely what is crossing our borders. They may be criminals but they are not stupid. Obviously, if anything of a highly negative nature were linked to them and their practices, it would focus a degree of unhealthy scrutiny on the border, which logically means an end or severe restriction to what is very lucrative enterprise. And, as I'm sure you are aware, it is not only Hispanics who are making money at this practice.(I've heard from some "associates" that an attempt was made, prior to 9/11, for some Egyptian "refugees" to enter across New Mexico, and alas, they apparently met with some misfortune.)
Secondly, it strains credulity to think that Semitic person, from a vastly different culture, could possibly pose as Hispanic. Contrary to the belief of the mis-educated and uncivilized, most of the people in the world can tell after only a brief interaction that someone is not a "local". Speech patterns, behavior, idiosyncrasies, are all noted, especially among persons whose alertness to danger is heightened by involvement in a criminal enterprise.
The so-called border problem is only the usual election year smokescreen, presented to arouse the irate (and often ignorant) passion of those who harbor a secret fear and resentment of more dark skinned persons entering into our country. This fear is based upon the assumption that once "they" outnumber "us", "we" will be treated with the same disrespect and arrogance that has been heaped on "them" for so long.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. The illegals I know are hard working, decent, church going persons. In a world in which we desire to combat international terrorism, we need all the allies that we can get, especially those who are direct neighbors.

It's definitely NOT new. Just because its taken all of this time to reach the Washington Times and the blogs, doesn't mean that people in the counterdrug and counterterror field didn't expect or know. It's still another reason to shut down the damn borders.

I have thought for a long time that it will take another 9-11 to give the government the political will to secure the borders.
The politicians won't listen to the American people.
Would they respond to another attack?
Too bad it has come to this.
Posted by: Thomas Hamilton | August 08, 2007 at 02:40 PM
Bush would have blood on his hands if another attack was traced back to a weak border.
I used to say that, another attack like 9/11, would embolden Americans, but I don't see it happening, because they have fallen fast asleep once again.

I'm going to add this one to our Linkfest, because I believe it deserves the attention. I have known about this for years, and about the Mexican/Russian/Cuban connection. Bush must be crazy if he thought we were going to sit still for that illegal aliens crap. Have a great day!
