Our nation is suffering through an insurgency just as disgraceful, bloody, and dangerous as that being perpetrated in Iraq. While it may not be as noticeable as that within the Middle East, it still involves all the major players – the media, the U.S. Government, terrorists, illegal immigrants and, of course, our brave men and women serving within the military forces. That our nation is at war is a given. That our people feel as though the war is consistently “over there” is a habit of convenience. We’re simply too comfortable to understand that there are thousands of people, perhaps millions, who reside within the United States but wish to defeat our nation and all that she stands for. Many of these are bona fide terrorists who, at this very moment, devote their entire existence to destroying our infrastructure and killing our family, friends, and neighbors in the most heinous ways imaginable. The 9/11 hijackers flew into the U.S. long before they flew into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, proving beyond a reasonable doubt that terrorists do, in fact, live here before they attack us. There are many others, however, who aren’t classified as true terrorists, but are just as deadly and vile as those who sport AK-47s and bomb vests. That we don’t recognize them as such is perhaps as much a reflection upon our inability to protect ourselves as it is a dire warning of the complacency that permeates a “me first” culture.
For tens of thousands of years, civilization has evolved through the “survival of the fittest”, that innate precept of humanity to snuff out the guy next door before he touches our last slice of whole wheat. What separates ‘acceptable’ behavior from ‘sheer madness’ is merely the hairline fracture dividing those who fight because of love for their fellow man and those who fight simply because of their hatred for their fellow man. Modernism often tries to place a cast over the wound, hoping that the distinctive break will heal and mankind will become whole again. It won’t ever happen, no matter how hard the “enlightened” try to explain away the sheer brutality of their fellow humans.
In our technologically advanced, modern society of instant and diverse communications, we are constantly awash with theorists who purport to owning the “latest and greatest” element of diplomacy, often neglecting the fact that “peace is the absence of hostility, not the absence of war.” More disturbing are those misguided and naive souls who are quick to lay blame for war solely upon the powerful, the rich, and the visionary. Peace comes to those who’ve earned it, not those who merely demand it. As our brave men and women within the military – whom we are eternally indebted to – fight overseas to combat terrorists and tyrants who wish to impose their beliefs upon a free people, many persons within the media, entertainment, and even the U.S. Congress itself have taken a direct stance against our national defense –mostly under the false guise of “good for the nation”.
Ask yourself: Who in their right mind does not want to be protected at all costs? The simple answer is: someone who does not want to survive. Accordingly, those who do not want the United States to protect itself at all costs simply do not want the United States to survive. Can you think of a better definition of an enemy? I believe, unequivocally, that any citizen who intentionally seeks to destroy the wealth, strength, and cultural heritage of the United States of America is a traitor and should be shot for treason regardless if they, for example, believe that they are acting within their Congressional duties. There is no need for a lengthy trial as most of them (entertainers included) do so willingly in front of national cameras and incarceration rarely, if ever, changes a person’s beliefs.
Consider this; the vast majority of Americans believe that our borders need to be secured, illegal aliens need to be apprehended, and our military needs to be successful in all of its endeavors. Sadly, our Democrat-controlled Congress has failed miserably in every one of our ‘benchmarks’ while seeking to force our troops to surrender in Iraq because the Iraqi government has met very few of their benchmarks. Can you say hypocrites! boys and girls? Part of this problem stems from the preponderance of self-acclaimed ‘experts’ who try to modernize the primal human directive of “shoot first and ask questions later”. War is brutal, savage, unresolved, and evolving. Those who treat it as if it were a simple debate do so because they lack the raw human emotions that demand success before ease of mind.
We’re all to blame, in part, for this proclivity towards comfort and expectation. My favorite example of this involves comparing my hunting buddies with those who tamed Africa during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Those hunters of yesteryear often utilized an 8-bore double rifle, a firearm that exerted roughly six times as much recoil as, say, a modern 12 gauge shotgun. More importantly, they stood down charging rhino and bull elephant from a distance of less than fifty yards. How do today’s ‘hunters’ compare? We tend to hunt from distances of hundreds of yards with scoped, graphite composite rifles of low-recoil and rarely, if ever, encroach upon prey that can stomp us to death as soon as we fail to bring them down with the first shot. That our current generation is typically bigger, more muscular, and health conscious than those of old underscores this discrepancy of trade. We’ve simply lost the ability to place our lives on the line regarding matters of survival.
If we are not willing to back our lives up with, well, our lives, then the only alternative is to open up our society to those who wish to enslave and convert us. There is no other option. Oh, we can entrust our government and federal forces to do what is expected, but generally they end up doing only that which is required of them by our Legislature. No one seems to understand that fighting the war against terrorists is a historically long and savage undertaking, not a quick and technological one. Many ‘experts’ believe that the fundamental responsibility of business or the citizen is simply to ensure that our computer networks and data are secured from outside attack never minding that those who are attacking us live within caves and the dingy back alleys of Third World trash heaps. We might use iPods, cell phones, and laptops, but our mental state must be one of standing firm against pachyderms charging at close range in East Africa.
Fighting the war against terrorists is brutal, so permit me to be brutal. First, we need to seal our borders. Anyone – and I mean, anyone – who steps across the ‘line’ without an invitation gets taken down. Period. Next, we round up the twelve million or so who are here illegally and send them back to where they came from. They’ve had their fun now let’s have ours. They have their supporters here – as exemplified by the number of ‘sanctuary cities’ that dot our landscape – but we have federal law behind us and those who circumvent these laws need to be dealt with severely regardless of who they are. Finally, we need to locate and take out all terrorists who have a motive against us, wherever they may reside. This may irritate other nations but please name one that’s done a respectable job of fighting the Islamists in our stead. We can no longer merely demand peace and convenience, we must earn them and that means surviving the same way that we have for countless centuries – by carving up and serving our enemies. Nothing else will suffice.

Sure there is, David. We're all born knowing right from wrong. It's innate in our species. What happens to it is that we subvert this innate knowledge with erroneous thinking.
Reality is distorted in the young in all manner of ways, primarily through the teachings of adults who are themselves out of touch with reality.
They teach us their religion, their prejudices and hates, their mistaken views, their emotional sets, all pointing away from the center.
For instance, the concept that the Earth has been destroyed and rebuilt many times. There is zero evidence for "numerous destructions and recreations of this planet". That and "Adamic form" is just some silly nonsense you picked up somewhere and if you teach that stuff to children you further separate them from reality.
Nope. We're born with that universal set of values you say we don't have. It's the adults who screw it all up.

For tens of thousands of years, civilization has evolved through the “survival of the fittest” - R.J. Godlewski
How typical to be 'preached at' by an agnostic. Humanity in its Adamic form, after numerous destructions and recreations of this planet, has not existed for tens of thousands of years. The writer assumes we are the only ones in control of our destiny. Once one falls to this assumption, the rationale for who is 'more right' in their struggle becomes academic. Our morality becomes completely subjective because there is no universal standard for behavior.

This is nothing new but I'm glad someone else is finally saying it besides me.
It is politically slanted, however, as it dumps our problems in Iraq on the "Democrat-controlled Congress", which is utter BS. Iraq and all its problems lay squarely at the feet of G.W. Bush and the Congress as a whole. The democrats "control" is a small majority in the House, but in the Senate where bills are actually PASSED INTO LAW that are SENT TO THEM BY THE HOUSE, it's 49 to 49 with 2 independents and a Republican tie-breaker vote by the V.P.. So actually the Republicans still have the majority. The reality is that both parties are pushing this war.
Other than that misleading and partisan stupidity, the author is pretty much in the ballpark. The enemy is within.
The only way we're going to get rid of all the wetbacks is to declare and enforce Martial Law and shoot them as they come across, something this author intimates but doesn't come right out and say.
If You're going to face a herd of angry elephants at close range, then face them. Shooting to scare them won't work. Say what you mean.
Hey, it's a good start. Now go for it, Godlewski.
