I watched the Republican Debate tonight hosted by Fox News. My conclusion is: These debates should be a reality show, where at the end of each major debate, the viewers can vote one candidate off the show. Then when the next debates arrive, there will be one less candidate. At the end of the debates, the last candidate standing is the Republican Party's candidate. The Democrats should do this also.
OK, no, I'm not serious. But I did not hear anything new tonight, other than the Fred Thompson bashing that each candidate was encouraged to provide at the beginning of the debate. I have a FRED 08 sticker on my car -- for now. I reserve the right to change my mind before the elections. Now, below you will find videos of the debate, of Fred Thompson, and other bloggers opinions. Enjoy. Also I would love to hear your thoughts on the debate tonight.

I could vote for a Thompson/Huckabee ticket, I think that would be great.
Voting out all the present politicians and voting in new ones, survivor style, would be great. Start with a fresh bunch completely.
I agree with Grouch on the moderates, lukewarm never tasted good to anybody.
Thanks for the input everybody.

The debates are little more than political thater, and not very good theater at that. I know it's early, but what do you think of a Thompson/Huckabee ticket?

Not in reference to any particular candidate or group of candidates, but....
Debbie, could we perhaps instead vote all the candidates out of the running, and start with a whole new group?

Roger, I don't like liberals either, but I think I like "centrists" and "moderates" even less. These people are continuously ranting that the rest of us be fair and balanced and yet they are unable to tell us where they stand on issues because they are always vacillating back and forth like a ship without a rudder trying to ascertain their "fair and balanced" position.
BULLSHIT!
Moderates and centrists in the Republican Party may have wounded the party beyond repair.
I heard a talk radio host say the other day that things that usually stay in the middle of the road usually get squashed by a truck!
If you can't take a stand, hot or cold, then just shut up.

Well I did not see the debate. I looked at most of the links on this post. I'm not going to get real excited about any candidate at this point. The Grouch has learned that when you put too much faith in politicians you usually get burned. Right now my thumbs up candidates are Tancredo, Huckabee, and Thompson. The first two are long shots but hey, at this point anything could happen. I could hold my nose and support Giuliani or Romney if it came down to it, but maybe it won't go that far. The campaign hasn't even started and I'm tired already.

Great idea, Deb. Last man standing.
I've got some thoughts, but they don't have anything to do with the candidates. I can't stand Alan Negativity Colmes. I don't want Fair and Balanced anymore. I've aleady heard all of their stupid antiwar anti-America rants and I just don't want to hear any more of it. I don't want to hear stupid Alan Colmes trying so hard to prove that the surge isn't really working.
In the beginning I used to listen to these people. But not now. Now I shut off the sound when Colmes talks and put it back on when Hannity starts.
I hate being fair and I refuse to be balanced.
Too much is at stake right now and the liberal idiots hate Bush so bad it's blinded them forever to the truth.
No more Fair, No more Balanced, just the Truth.

Ortho: There are some clips linked to at the bottom of my article at Stop the ACLU.
I was kidding, but wouldn't that be great, a survivor-like presidential election?
I would vote Ron Paul off or Dennis Kucinich. I cannot get interested in either one of them.

I agree Deb. The debates were nothing new. Actually all I could think about it "what would Fred say?" I am thrilled with his announcement and too have the sticker on our cars. So here we go. Move over Hillary, a real man is about to take over his name is Fred Thompson.

Oh Debbie, I was so digging the first paragraph of this post. Such an awesome idea. Political debates Survivor style. Then, you had to say you were kidding. Major let down.
Anyway, if the debates were in a format of Survivor, who would you have voted off after tonight's performance?
Disclaimer: I didn't watch the debates. I don't subscribe to cable TV. I will watch the clips on Youtube.
