I've taken some extra time this morning to read news, web, and blog articles. The topic that seemed to scream out loud and clear is 'the enemy within' the United States, rather than the threats to us out there in the world somewhere. Here's some of the discussions:
Roger W. Gardner at Political Grind suggests, "It’s time to take off the gloves, America. It’s time for new rules of engagement."
To prepare ourselves for this battle we must begin by taking a refresher course in self-defense. Our first lesson must be to insure that we have a clear and unobstructed understanding of what it is we are defending and, further, we must firmly believe that it is indeed worth defending. We are living in an new era, the Age of Unreason. We are being ruled by a ruthless and unyeilding dictator who hides under the benign title of Political Correctness. [snip]
We are procluded from making even the most obvious and benign observations of the world around us. Multiculturalism has become our new religion; a religion based upon a revealed truth which we have been forbidden to question. To merely frame the question constitutes the crime. (more)
I suggest you go read it all. There are some who are worried about isolationism and protectionism, America cutting herself off from the world of trade and econmony. Some think we are wasting our time and money trying to spread democracy to Islamic countries. Have we taken the time to watch the Arab television coming into our homes here in the U.S.?
Have you watched the Arabic Channel, also known as TAC, which serves the New York region? Probably not, as most New Yorkers neither understand nor speak Arabic. But if you are among the estimated 1 million viewers — legal and illegal, new and old Arabic-speaking immigrants to the tri-state area — who tune in daily to Channel 507 on Time Warner Cable, this is what you can get:• A daily dose of Islamic jurisprudence from an Egyptian sheik, Amr Khaled, who comes direct from Cairo as TAC's prime advocate of "peaceful jihad," on how the duty of every Arab-American is to become first, second, and only a member of the Muslim Ummah.
• A nightly helping of Syria's CNN-style digest of the world, sent fresh from a Damascus studio where the Iraq war is nothing but an American butchery of Arabs, and the Zionist regime in Jerusalem is just biding its time until it gets what it deserves.
• A sprinkling of Egyptian and Syrian soap operas (though TAC completely avoids footage of "Oriental" dancing and other "infidel" joys of life).
On its Web site, TAC says it is now 14 years old and serves the "Greater New York City Metropolitan area, including Jersey City, Bergen County, N.J., and Mt. Vernon, N.Y." through cable and satellite transmission. (more at The New York Sun, via Infidels Are Cool)
On the anniversary of September 11, 2001, mitzvahmom wrote:
Many liberals in the country find fault with law enforcement and American attitudes towards American Muslims since 9/11, taking as their cause a defense of civil liberties. There has been a clear erosion of our civil rights by the current administration no doubt, but at the same time can we talk critically about Islam as we do about Christianity or Judaism without fear that we’ll be physically attacked by those who practice it? [snip][Ayaan Hirsi] Ali has said she believes the West has been unaware of the full extent of the ongoing threat since the 9/11 attacks. [snip] Allowing Muslims to immigrate and make use of the freedoms permitted by liberal democracy without requiring them to adapt in the name of tolerance and multiculturalism is in her view very dangerous. Bin Laden’s tape calling on Americans to convert to Islam would seem to be a confirmation of her views. (more) (more)
BeliefNet says, "A decade ago, there were 300 converts to Islam annually in Germany. Last year, there were an estimated 4,000 conversions in Germany. And this is a problem." I'm wondering what the numbers are here in the United States.
This is yet another reason why the United States has got to start paying a lot more critical attention to the Muslim Brotherhood's activities here. Read the comprehensive strategy memo seized by FBI agents (scroll down for the English translation). (pdf) The Brotherhood clearly intends to establish control over how Islam is taught in this country, by either founding or gaining effective control over Muslim organizations, and making community Islamic centers their base in local communities. If, as some outspoken anti-Islamist Muslims have charged, Islamists are taking over the institutions of Islamic life i America and turning it to the Muslim Brotherhood's goals, then it seems to me that there is a strong likelihood that converts to Islam will be educated in a militant, political, extremist Islam. How can we possibly afford to be indifferent to that in a time of war with Islamic extremism? All the more reason to be very careful with our immigration laws and to crack down on illegal immigration.
No, not all crazies are Muslim or converts to Islam, "Boston - MIT Student Arrested For Fake Bomb At Logan Airport." Now she's claiming it was "just art."
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is still scheduled to come to the United States and speak at the United Nations AND Columbia University. Our government has issued him a visa which allows him to travel a 25 mile radius from the U.N., if my information is correct. Rosemary thinks he will still go to ground zero using Secret Service security to protect him. I hope she's wrong. Why give him more propaganda material to use against us.
City Council speaker Christine Quinn called Thursday for the university to rescind the invitation, saying "the idea of Ahmadinejad as an honored guest anywhere in our city is offensive to all New Yorkers."Quinn, a Democrat, said Ahmadinejad was coming to the city "for one reason — to spread his hate-mongering vitriol on the world stage." (Fox News)
Nice job Ms. Quinn. And she's a Democrat too. Wow.

Political Grind's Roger Gardner is spot on. This cat always seems to cleverly eschew the PC trap with saavy common sense, an acurate view of current events and a solid grasp of history. Great stuff.
