Victory Forces vs. Defeatists
The "Fight for Victory" tour, a historic caravan of military families and supporters in cars, trucks, motor homes and motorcycles, began their cross-country, pro-troop road trek of some 3,484 miles on Labor Day and will cross the nation September 3rd to 15th, stopping along the way to conduct some 27 pro-troop rallies. Two completely different forces are at work in our nation as we wait for General David Petraeus to give his report on conditions in Iraq. The differences in these groups are obvious. Which group are you?
Force Number One, whose members include mothers with daughters and sons in Iraq, lean on each other. No driving force other than their love of troops keeps them going [snip]Force Number One is focused on a single positive message: "Support Our Troops".
Force Number Two attempts to blend two issues into one: "End the War" and "Impeach for Peace."
Well organized and long used to the protest as a means to bring about social change, they picked up their pickets as they boarded buses rented by anti-war organizations. [snip]
Moonbats tend to speak out in unison rather than individually, and they speak in singsong chants like "No, no we won't go, we won't fight for Texaco."
Problem is they don't think fighting for anything is worthwhile, not God, not country and certainly not troops. Blaming America for everything, many of them rely on handouts and the false promises of crass politicians like Nancy Pelosi. (read it all here)
Judi Mcleod concludes " ... the pro-victory forces have all ready won."
That's because the only slogan with any meaning is the one that says: "God bless America's troops".
Yes, pro-victory forces have already won, because at rallies that have already happened, the pro-victory crowds were huge, proud, smiling, full of hope and visions of success for America. The end-the-war protesters were small in number, small in spirit, small in love for America and the troops, and lacking in any vision of a bright future for the United States of America.

What part, if any, does Israel play in America's success in Iraq and the over all war on terror?
For the next month or two, the battle over Iraq will be waged in Washington -- and one country will come up over and over again, from any number of directions: Israel. Israel will be invoked as an ally in the war on terrorism -- the reason the United States is in the war in the first place. Some will say that Israel maneuvered the United States into Iraq to serve its own purposes. Some will say it orchestrated 9/11 for its own ends. Others will say that, had the United States supported Israel more resolutely, there would not have been a 9/11. (StratFor)StratFor asks two questions that I personally have not considered previously:
The first [question] is whether this is in any way unique. Is a strong Israel lobby an unprecedented intrusion into foreign policy? The key question, though, is whether Israeli interests diverge from U.S. interests to the extent that the Israel lobby is taking U.S. foreign policy in directions it wouldn't go otherwise, in directions that counter the U.S. national interest. [snip]The second question, then, is: Has the Israel lobby caused the United States to act in ways that contravene U.S. interests? For example, by getting the United States to support Israel, did it turn the Arab world against the Americans? (StratFor)
George Freidman's conclusion is:
Beyond its ability to exert itself on small things, the Israel lobby is powerful in influencing Washington to do what it is going to do anyway. What happens next in Iraq is not up to the Israel lobby -- though it and the Saudi Embassy have a different story.

Interesting article...
I ran across an item within the last couple of days that indicated that Israel had warned us that Iran, not Iraq, should be our target. I'm sorry - I don't have a reference...too many blogs/sites! If that's true, then the basic premise of Israeli influence is incorrect, since we went after the "wrong" target.
Still, we had cause to go into Iraq, and no cause - at the time - to go into Iran. If the military wasn't so stretched, I'd consider that the Iraq action might be simply a precursor for action against Iran. Maybe it still is - I don't know. Taking on Iran with Saddam next door wouldn't have been real bright either.
