China's Gone Too Far

It's bad enough that China messed with children's toys, foods, lunch boxes, and who knows what else ... they have messed with my lipstick and I'm ready to declare war on Chinese made products. It doesn't matter what brand you use, cheap or expensive, L'Oreal, CoverGirl, Christian Dior and Mabelline, they all have lead. The redder the color, the more lead they contain. Good thing I'm a pink to mauve girl.

This is serious, because the lead can cause behavioral problems in children and it can also cause birth defects and miscarriages in fetuses carried by women using these lipsticks. It's not just about beauty.

More than half of 33 top-brand lipsticks recently tested contained detectable levels of lead, ... 11 of the lipsticks tested exceeded 0.1 parts per million, which is the federal lead limit for candy. [snip]

The products were tested by Bodycote Testing Group in Sante Fe Springs, Calif.

L'Oreal Colour Riche True Red measured a lead content of .65 parts per million. L'Oreal Colour Riche Classic Wine had .58 parts per million. CoverGirl's Incredifull Lipcolor Maximum Red had .56 parts per million.

Lead in high doses has been related to learning and behavioral problems in children and has been linked to miscarriages and other health issues in adults.

The study compares lead levels found in lipsticks to the federal standard for lead in candy, which is .1 parts per million, since there is no current standard for lead levels in lipstick, ... (Chron.com)

Maybe this is why we are having so many problems with our children as far as attention problems?

I hate China! Love Chinese people, though. That is why I hate China. Also, what your first commenter said.

Well, were getting exactly what we asked for, when we moved every damn factory to China, and asked them to make the cheapest, most poorly made products in history.
