Extensive Round-Up, Head um up, Move um out!

Trying to catch up this morning, storms all night, tornado warnings, so... In keeping with a Right Truth reader's description of this blog, "Right Truth is a valuable information portal" ... here's what you missed overnight:

ACLU Trying to Ban Bowing Head During Prayer, Stop the ACLU and Washington Times:

The issue of teachers and coaches praying — or appearing to pray — in front of students is being hashed out in one New Jersey high school, which is trying to ban its football coach from bowing his head and kneeling while his players pray before games.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit heard arguments in the case earlier this month.

IMPRISONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS LIVING ‘WORSE THAN GUANTANAMO’, The Midnight Sun

Now, it appears that the living conditions of the agents may soon be the subject of a congressional investigation. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and other House members say that Ramos and Compean, who have already facing beatings while in prison, “are living in conditions worse than those facing suspected terrorists at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.”

Acting Like Serfs, Treated Like Serfs, JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP - America's Most Aggressive Defender of Firearms Ownership
by Larken Rose,
www.tyrantbook.com

These days it's hard to keep up with all the stories about official government misconduct and police brutality. So what is it that makes so many "law enforcers" treat the rest of us like vermin to be stomped upon? If ours is a "servant government," as the Founders stated, why is it that those in positions of power act so much like our masters?

It is both easy and appropriate to blame the individual megalomaniacs who abuse their power, but the world has never had a lack of nasty people. So why is it that symptoms of a police state seem to be showing up more and more often in this country? A major cause is something which probably wouldn't occur to most people, and which most people don't want to hear:

They treat us like we are their slaves, because we treat them like they are our masters.

Pray for victory, avoid defeat, (Washington Times), William Hawkins
October 18, 2007, Peace and Freedom II

Hillary Clinton’s claim in a new Foreign Affairs magazine essay that, while she would pull some troops out within 60 days of becoming president, she would keep other “specialized units” in Iraq to fight terrorism will not set well with the far left. She is already taking heat for voting “like a hawk” and declaring Iran’s Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization.

CommonDreams.org charges the Democratic presidential candidate has shifted to general election mode, “trying to shore up her national security credentials against Republican candidates.” The New York senator’s claim earlier in the year that “we must not permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons” runs afoul of the left’s campaign (voraciously pushed by ANSWER and Code Pink) to protect Tehran from American “imperialism.”

Handgun tracking law gets approved , SignOnSanDiego

Delivering a top priority of the gun-control movement, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation yesterday requiring that new models of semiautomatic handguns sold in California be able to stamp identifying serial numbers on shell casings.

In a surprise move, he also signed a bill banning lead ammunition in the sprawling range of the endangered California condor.

Libya and Vietnam Elected to Two-Year Terms on U.N. Security Council, Peace and Freedom II

The vote in the U.N. General Assembly showed how much the ideological map has been redrawn at the United Nations since the Cold War, when U.S. troops battled communist forces in Vietnam and U.S. fighter jets bombed Tripoli in retaliation for Libya’s 1986 attack that killed two Americans at a Berlin nightclub frequented by U.S. servicemen.

Winning is the only thing: Ambitious to a Fault, By Robert J. Samuelson
The Washington Post and Peace and Freedom II

It is an enduring paradox of the American condition. There is a point at which ambition and the determination to succeed, which generally serve us well, turn destructive, corrupting and dishonest. Success becomes its own god. Winning is what matters; the methods or consequences count little or not at all.
