Word of the day -- Slaves

Going through my email in-box this morning, I have numerous tips on slavery as it relates to Western nations. We toss the word around -- slaves to fashion, slaves to the boob-tube, etc. But someone who is really treated as a slave, especially a helpless child, knows the true meaning of the word.

Slave: 1. a person who is the property of and wholly subject to another; a bond servant.
2.a person entirely under the domination of some influence or person

From The Blotter, "New Wave of Video Beheadings Aimed at 'American Slaves'"

New propaganda videos show al Qaeda-connected terrorists carrying out the beheadings of captured Pakistani soldiers, labeled "slaves to America."

One edited video, obtained by the Blotter on ABCNews.com, shows several teenage boys carrying out the decapitation of a Pakistani soldier with crude knives and then holding the severed, bleeding head with its military beret still in place.

In a brief speech to the camera before the execution, the speaker says the soldier must die because he is a "slave to America."

The future of the secular west might be encapsulated in this excerpt from a comment from Daily Kos, A Simple Way to End the War on Terror. The commentator refers to the Osama bin Laden video clip where the terrorist recommends that all westerners become Muslims.

Excellent post, Debbie. Slavery is a terrible dark blot on our planet condoned and propagated mostly by Islam. Though it goes on in other ideologies too. It's rife in Communist China. I've linked to you (though I can't see it here). I wrote the Atheism aids the 'Jihadist Conquest of the West' post over at Freedom Fighters Journal (Ronbo and I cross-post). Hi Debbie. I'm glad you posted about sexual slavery. Close to a million women and children are trafficked throughout the planet as sexual slaves each year. In 2002, a CIA report claimed, over 50,000 women and children were trafficked into the U.S. as sexual slaves. The issue of sexual slavery is not an Islamic problem, it's a planetary problem, a problem that we should all work to solve.

It's funny, this past spring we all watched Britain celebrate and congratulate itself on 200th anniversary of its abolition of the African slave trade (after over 200 years of participating), it allowed the British, and all Western nations by association to appear as egalitarian champions of human equality. However, as your post suggests, right under our noses, a hidden slavery still thrives.
