
Northrop Grumman demonstrated several new air and missile defense battle management tools last month during a 10-day U.S. Army exercise focusing on net-centric upgrades to the Patriot missile communications system. (thanks to Peace and Freedom II)
The U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Capabilities, Manager-Lower Tier conducted the Patriot communications enhancement technology demonstration exercise Sept. 17-28 to prepare Patriot to be part of the next-generation Army integrated battle command system.During the exercise, Northrop Grumman engineers used tactical radios, in addition to satellite communications, as the primary means of communicating between different echelons of the air and missile defense battle command structure. General: Israel Can Destroy Or Cripple Iran’s Nuke Program
A senior Israeli Defense Officer has said that Israel has the capability to destroy or cripple Iran’s nuclear program.The unnamed brigadier-general who spoke to a few Jewish journalists in Toronto on October 22 had his remarks posted on the Canadian Jewish News Web site.
The general said, “Delay can also be helpful. We have to be prepared for any eventuality”. The general also said that striking Iran’s nuclear facilities would not be easy, since its facilities are widely scattered and buried deep underground, the report said.
"Several hundred U.S. diplomats vented anger and frustration Wednesday about the State Department’s decision to force foreign service officers to take jobs in Iraq, with some likening it to a “potential death sentence.”"

I agree with Suek, too. Those complainers see a perfect opportunity to push their anti-Bush agenda. They are of the ilk of Richard Armitage and Colin Powell. They think they should be setting policy.
I say fire them all, those who don't abide by the oath they take upon employment. Duncan Hunter had an excellent idea - let the wounded Vets that still want to contribute go there and they'll have a new career. Sounds like an excellent idea to me.

My understanding is that State Department employees take an oath to serve where needed. Considering the difficulty of terminating government employees, and considering the fact that the loyalty of the State Department seems _not_ to be focussed on the President's goals, this seems like a marvelous one of a kind opportunity to clean house. If someone will avail themselves of it, that is. Why do I have the feeling that once again compromise will be the "solution"?
