What my friends are saying
Like talking over the backyard fence, here's what a few of my friends have to talk about today:
Risking Life for Art, Incognito
The performing arts should be valued for more than its ability to entertain. In a far more profound and complex way it can be a catalyst for change- when it educates, enlightens, transforms, inspires. [snip]However, in nations where freedom is at a premium, artists are not so fortunate. They are censored, fired from jobs and thrown in jail for nothing more than being critical of those in power.
Jealousy, Great Satan's Girlfriend, (check the comments too)
"Jealousy - you such an evil thang" are lyrics breathed rather than sung (ala Jessica Simpson) on a track on Paris Hilton's CD. It also provides a wickedly clever sound track to the current, weirdly comical death throes of the know it all club of Realism."Realpolitik" is a hold over from an old school era. Instantly Americanized by The Great Satan into 'Realism', America didn't care how unfree, how uncool, how total despotism was in nations - as long as they kept out the Commies and Mohammedist fundies they could treat their own people as they wished. Protection gauranteed. Good times.

ACLU Finds Secret Torture Memos; Leftards Waterboard One Another, Jay
Kender notices in this video at the 46 second mark…that when the towel is removed it keeps a shape. If you pour a gallon of water on a towel, it does not keep shape like this. There is something under the towel keeping the water from getting into the participant’s nose and mouth. Watch closely. Nothing but a publicity stunt.
LiB Slogans and more SloganS, Woman Honor Thyself
Among the many mindless mantras of our time, “making a difference” and “giving back” irritate me like chalk screeching across a blackboard.

Fall ushers in the end of baseball. Football is well underway. Hockey is getting tuned up. And so, sadly, is basketball.

Yesterday we had our local elections for the city mayor etc.The mayor is a horrible, highly disliked one.She is an older white lady and is very obnoxious and has done a lot of things that has damaged the city rather than help it.So me being a very good citizen decided that it was my responsibility to help get her out of office.Pakistan - A Series of Choices Gone Wrong, Stormwarning
The situation in Pakistan is not getting better. Some call it is a failed state hosting nuclear weapons and al-Qa’eda’s leadership, a combination making it arguably the world’s most dangerous country. Some would have you believe that Musharraf is “trying his best.”
Groovin’ To The Beat, Rastaman
Russia has just opted out of the arms control treaty with Europe, the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty, considered to be a major element of European security. This treaty was adopted in 1990 by NATO and the Soviet Union to set limits on conventional weapons such as tanks and aircraft, and now Russia is free to expand on this in secrecy, and will no longer reveal the size, quantity and capabilities of their hardware inventory. One more step backwards to the Cold War.
KY Gubernatorial Race 2007 Election Results, Butch
Kentucky's gubernatorial race:
UPDATE: (R) Ernie Fletcher 286,293 40% (Incumbent) (D) Steve Beshear 437,088 60%

Yes, Debbie, thanks for the link. Truth be known, I am surprised at how some people can maintain a positive outlook about Pakistan.
