The Pope vs the Church of Global Warming

Pope Benedict XVI stands up against the global warming "prophets of doom", a/k/a Al Gore and his church of eternal carbon credits. BWHAHAHAHAHAH! What a beautiful thing to hear. We have the Pope vs Al Gore et al; AND the Pope vs the United Nations. You've got to love this man whether you are Catholic or not.

Pope Benedict XVI has launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.

The leader of more than a billion Roman Catholics suggested that fears over man-made emissions melting the ice caps and causing a wave of unprecedented disasters were nothing more than scare-mongering.

The German-born Pontiff said that while some concerns may be valid it was vital that the international community based its policies on science rather than the dogma of the environmentalist movement.

His remarks will be made in his annual message for World Peace Day on January 1, but they were released as delegates from all over the world convened on the Indonesian holiday island of Bali for UN climate change talks. (Daily Mail)

This is about the human race and the Pope believes humans are more important that anything else, more important than any of God's creation. I've said this before.

While we're on churches and religion, don't be caught up in the Church of Oprah and Obama. I think Oprah has been preaching the virtues of Barack Obama from her new pulpit, but I'm wondering what she will do when he falls from his pedestal? The wrath of Ophra will be a sight to behold. So Oprah’s endorsement of Barack Obama has very little to do with the future of this nation and everything to do with the future of Oprah. She’s run against a wall. She has her production company, her book club, her magazine, her student-abusing school in Africa (that denies education to whites). What’s next? Corralling politics. (more)

If I seem overly passionate, maybe I am. I'm just sick of watching our government accomplish absolutely nothing about anything because they spend all their time squabbling over blame and fault and details and reports.

Then I see bloggers doing the same thing instead of calling for action. What are we here for if we can't break out of that mold?

Debbie, you're still arguing the CAUSE. The cause of global warming is a NON-ISSUE. And as far as how fast it's happening, the evidence is irrefutable that it's speeding up. No one argues that or that global warming is actual, anymore.

Let's get off CAUSE, okay? And start talking about DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. If there's any chance that our massive carbon dioxide emissions are increasing the greenhouse effect, which is in fact caused by increases of atmospheric carbon dioxide, do you deny that we should make an effort to cut way back on these emissions? Maybe just to see if it matters, if nothing else? Maybe just to try to do less damage to our planet, just in case we are? Huh? What do you think? Huh?

Is that such a difficult concept?

When a forest is on fire, should we do a study to see what dies in it, or should we maybe try to put the damned fire out?

Rastaman, I never said I didn’t believe the earth was warming. The question is how much, how fast, how urgent? Also what is causing it? Is it really MAN causing it? If not, and if it is a natural warming trend like has happened many times in the past, can or should anything be done to try and stop it? If it’s a natural change in the earth, mankind can’t change that. And it the rate of warming is only one degree over many years, it would be generations and generations before any damage would be done. Those are a lot of IF’S. The Pope is simply saying let’s get HARD, scientific facts. There are many scientists who do not believe the climate change we are experiencing is the threat that the Al Gore crowd who cry “the sky is falling” believe.

The Arctic sea ice that was predicted only last year to be gone by 2040 is now expected to be gone by 2012, just 5 more years. Estimates were revised because of massive melting this year. It looks like warming has entered a new, faster phase.

This is like talking to rocks. No point in it. When your supply of fuel, food and water starts getting scarcer, as it will before much longer, maybe then you'll wake up.

I've no clue why the Pope stuck his face into this with "global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology." when he's the worlds greatest advocate of dubios ideology.

Regardless of the cause, Earth is warming. Like it or not, and I know you don't.

Would someone please tell me who the F made the Pope an authority on anything except robe-wearing? He doesn't know crap about science.

Global warming is a fact. How many times you gotta hear it? It's a fact. The Earth is warming up and the Earth doesn't give a tinkers turd about politics. Why it's been politicized is only known to people who have profit margins to reach.

Gore may be right, he may be wrong. Does it matter? I don't really give a damn, do you? Can you stop the Earth from warming up? Do you really think anyone can? Think again.

This is a natural cycle and not the first time. If humans are contributing to it, oh well. Why do Republicans insist on freaking out with manic glee every time someone says the Earth is not warming? It is, hello, raise your head and look around.

The point is not to try reversing it, it's to make long-range plans to deal with it as it happens instead of stupidly bickering over whether it's a natural or artificial or both phenomenon.

This is juicy indeed but I wish someone with more political clout that the pope would stand up and tell the truth.

Wouldn't it be great if the next US president would stand up with the following:

"My fellow Americans. I am here to tell you that the notion of man made global warming and a planet in crisis is a hoax and one of the greatest scams perpetrated on mankind. Implementing these nonsensical ideas suggested by the environmental whackos would cost thousands of American jobs and enslave us further to foreign sources of energy. My fellow Americans, it's time to drill the hell out of ANWR and the enormous oil reserves off our coasts while at the same time telling our "friends" in the middle east to go to hell! My friends, carbon dioxide is NOT a pollutant. It is a simple byproduct of breathing."
