Blogging for Fred Thompson, the ONLY true Conservative
A large group of bloggers are making a special effort to get the word out about Fred Thompson and to encourage readers to spread the word and VOTE FRED THOMPSON. I think Fred is the only true Conservative in the bunch. I also believe that, in spite of media predictions, Fred will do great and shock everyone. I could be wrong, it happened once YEARS ago, heh. But Fred needs your help spreading the word.
"Why vote for Fred?" asks Faultline USA:
It’s pretty obvious if you’re a MSM newshound like me that they are all icing out Fred – even good ol Fox seems to ignore Fred. Instead of buying into the left-leaning media ice storm, most conservatives should be asking themselves why? The answer is quite simple. The liberal MSM is deathly afraid that Thompson would beat any Democratic candidate no matter which one eventually gets the nomination. And as for “fair and balanced” Fox, they appear to be in another “conservative” candidate’s bed!
Remember it was just a few months ago when conservatives overwhelmed congress to defeat the Comprehensive Immigration Bill. We need to stick together as we did then and we need the only candidate who will unite us on this issue. Fred wants to secure our borders and enforce immigration laws because he says that “Amnesty is not an option,” and “sanctuary cities” must end.
As Stop the ACLU says:
Want to see the
abovead played in Iowa? Fred would too, but needs your help. Rick Moran is leading the way for bloggers to help Fred Thompson in Iowa.Dear Friends,
I am writing to ask for your help.
All of us know the long odds faced by Fred Thompson in his efforts to win the GOP nomination for president. I’m sure you are all aware that Fred has undertaken pretty much of a do or die bus tour of Iowa in order to finish strongly in the Caucuses on January 3.
Many of you have already taken steps to support the Thompson campaign in a tangible way by placing fundraising widgets on your sidebar and writing about the campaign. In this way, each of us alone has done whatever we can to support Fred in his efforts.
But at this, the 11th hour of the campaign in Iowa, I think it would be a very effective fundraising tool if as many of us as possible were to participate in an old-fashioned Blogburst, writing a post asking readers to donate to the campaign while embedding a fundraising widget in the post for convenience.
I propose Thursday, December 27 for the Blogburst. If you have an email list, I would urge you to ask your subscribers to donate. If you know of other bloggers who support Fred, please forward this email and ask them to participate as well.
Not expecting a “money bomb” but even a few tens of thousands of dollars would help, I’m sure. Given the number of readers represented in the blogs listed here (where I got all of your email addresses) and your cooperation, I feel confident we can give a real shot in the arm to the campaign.
I don’t think any of us believe that our endorsement of Thompson alone means that much in the long run. But working together, uniting for one day and speaking with one voice, I think we could make a significant impact on Fred’s chances in Iowa. After all, when the candidate you support rolls the dice as Fred has, the least we can do is back his play to the best of our ability.
No need to respond to this email. Just do it.
Merry Christmas,
Rick Moran
Right Wing NuthouseIf you are a blogger who supports Fred, please participate in this Blogburst. If you know of a blogger who supports Fred, I urge you to contact them and ask them to participate.
For me, it comes down to this. If Fred isn’t nominated, I doubt very much that I will show up at the polls next November. Not to punish the party but simply because there is no one in the race who would be representing my views or who I could in good conscience, support for president.
This is why despite his long shot status, every effort must be made to help Fred Thompson continue the campaign by contributing to his efforts in Iowa. I’m going to give on Thursday and I hope you do too.
I feel much the same way, and I know that many other bloggers do as well. So lets get this thing rolling! If you haven't already, go contribute. If you can't afford it, at least join us in spreading the word.

Debbie:
Nice blog. I have read it off and on...mostly off, to be perfectly honest. And for that, I apologize.
I have been out and about this past year and just now settling back into the swing of things.
God Bless.

Ruger Heat, thanks for visiting. Always nice to make new friends. Don't be a stranger.
Yes I never go anywhere without my trusty weapon. You never know when I might need it.
Fred 08, I will do another post tomorrow. I think all the bloggers I know who are for Fred, are posting quite a bit and also sending emails.
Thanks for the comments everybody.

Man that guy was awesome in Law & Order, wasn't he?
I would love to see him at this election like a bull dog with a bone!

I thought that I read somewhere that Fred's heart isn't in running, but that he's doing it anyway. I just don't see Thompson getting the Republican nomination, regardless of the reasons.

i've contributed (again) and i'm blogging, today, too. fred is our last best chance. as i told you last night, debbie, i believe that it would be better to have a democrat in office than a rockefeller republican.
at least it is in the dems playbook to support big government and be easy on things like defense and illegal immigration. we have had nearly eight years of "compassionate conservativism" - aka rockefeller republicanism - we are in danger of NOT being able to reclaim the gop party for the conservatives.
if we elect another rr, i believe that the opportunity will be gone and we will be squarely on the road to socialism regardless of which party is elected after this one. better to let the dems win this one and put up an actual conservative - such as fred thompson - for the next election cycle and let him rescue things.

Not sure just what constitutes a "true" conservative, but Ron Paul is the only candidate in the race who appears to be be least bit interested in restoring the US to a constitutional republic.

Tell you what...I'm not sure who's the best in the bunch, but the worst of the Republicans is still better than Hillary, period. Hillary will make Jimmy Carter look like a good president. And that is something near to impossible to achieve.

Debbie, I'm with you all the way on Fred. I was hovering with Huckabee, and thinking about Tancredo, but now I'm settled on Fred. I really hope he can make it past the primaries. There seems to be an ominous presence of Giuliani in the world media lately. We might as well have a Democrat in office if we get him.

Conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly says Huckabee “destroyed the conservative movement in Arkansas, and left the Republican Party in shambles,” Schlafly charges, “Yet some of the same evangelicals who sold us on George W. Bush as a ‘compassionate conservative’ are now trying to sell us on Huckabee.”
Richard Viguerie remarked about Huck, “But while Gov. Huckabee stands strong on some issues like abortion that are important to social conservatives, a careful examination of his record as governor reveals that he is just another wishy-washy Republican who enthusiastically promotes big government.”
The Club for Growth, which Huckabee does not seem to get along with, had this to say about the Huckster: “Governor Huckabee’s record on pro-growth, free-market policies is a mixed bag, with pro-growth positions on trade and tort reform, mixed positions on school choice, political speech, and entitlement reform, and profoundly anti-growth positions on taxes, spending, and government regulation.
His recent refusals to rule out raising taxes if elected President-the cornerstone of a pro-growth platform-perhaps indicate which path he would choose.”
Ann Coulter dubbed Huckabee “the Republican Jimmy Carter,” and no sane conservative wants another Jimmy Carter in the White House.
Anti-Illegal immigration advocates say they fear Mr. Huckabee could repeat President Bush’s track record on immigration, which they say amounted to tough talk but a failure to follow through. Mr. Huckabee’s campaign admitted that they never followed through with signing an agreement with the Department of Homeland Security to secure training for state police officers. Without it, they cannot enforce federal immigration law.
“This is a policy difference, but the facts are the facts — under Governor Huckabee’s administration, there was never even any effort to begin negotiating with Homeland Security,” said former state Rep. Jeremy Hutchinson, the Republican who sponsored the 2005 law.
Huckster’s illegal-enabling attitude is apparent in a deal to establish a partially taxpayer-financed Mexican consulate office in Little Rock, a scheme involving the lease of building space to the Mexican government for $1 a year. Then there was Huck’s support of drivers’ licenses, government benefits and in-state tuition rates for illegals and his opposition to a bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote.
Betsy Hagan, Arkansas director of the conservative Eagle Forum and a key backer of his early runs for office, was once ‘his No. 1 fan.’ She was bitterly disappointed with his record. ‘He was pro-life and pro-gun, but otherwise a liberal,’ she says. ‘Just like Bill Clinton he will charm you, but don’t be surprised if he takes a completely different turn in office.’
Jennifer Rubin at the National Review summarized his record on taxes while serving as governor in Arkansas.
By the end of his second term he had raised sales taxes 37 percent, fuel taxes 16 percent, and cigarettes taxes 103 percent, leading to a jump in total tax revenues from $3.9 billion to $6.8 billion. The Cato Institute gave him a failing grade of ‘F’ on its fiscal report card for 2006 and an only marginally better but still embarrassing ‘D’ for his entire term.”
Rush Limbaugh remarked that “The Huckabee campaign is trying to dumb down conservatism in order to get it to conform with his record.”
Rich Lowry, the editor of the National Review, has said it would be political suicide to nominate him.
Conservative UCLA law professor Steve Bainbridge, libertarian Cato Institute scholar Michael Tanner, and libertarian-leaning columnist Deroy Murdock have presented some excellent reasons why anyone who cares about limiting the power of government has every reason to oppose Huckabee’s nomination.
Pat Toomey wrote an op-ed in the National Review exposing Huckabee’s “stunning record of big-government liberalism,” protectionism and support for unions. He explains that “the average Arkansan’s tax burden increased 47 percent” and that “state spending increased by 50 percent.”
Do Republicans and conservatives really want to elect another Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter?
Mitt Romney is the best positioned conservative candidate to defeat the Huckster now.

I agree, Fred is the best man, however, he's not been very aggressive of late. Not in the slam of others sense (not good), but in the sense of getting on mass media and telling it like it is. It's like he came on strong, but has quit telling us how he can make the difference.
I hope he gets the nomination, I'd love to have Fred in office. My more real side though thinks he might end up as VP, for who, not sure.
Our Conservative people I think will elect a president, how crazy it's still so open :)
