Witnesses said the gunman was in his 20s and wearing a dark jacket and a dark skullcap. We're talking about he Colorado Springs and Arvada shooter, identified as Matthew Murray, 24, who killed Christians at two different religious institutions. Thanks to a brave volunteer female security guard, a small woman, "110 pounds dripping wet.", he was shot and killed before police arrived. The security guard used her OWN PRIVATE WEAPON.
Is there anything sinister to the skull cap report? What kind of skull cap? Was it a Muslim skull cap, as one blogger suggested? Why did he kill? He hated Christians.
The NEIN Blog reports in "Murders at Colorado Christian Institutions - Has Islam Struck Back?", that the shooter wore a skull cap. (NEIN stands for North East Intelligence Network)
From the NEIN mainpage report this morning. The murders appear to be related, possibly involving the same gunman in both locations. It is believed that law enforcement are searching the home of the killer in Englewood, Colorado. It is my personal assessment that the cold-blooded murders which have occured in Colorado at the Youth With A Mission (YWAM) missionary training center (i.e.: religious facility) in Arvada, and the New Life Church (a 10,000 member mega-church place of worship) in Colorado Springs are religiously motivated hate crimes.
My assessment is based upon multiple media reports that the killer wore a Muslim skull cap. Another very strong indicator I find to be linked to the religious motivation is that according to the Youth With a Mission website their missionary ministry became focused upon the Muslim world in 1991 as an overlooked - or viewed with "only one eye" area of missionary evangelism. In April 1992 with the initiation of the YWAM's Red Sea Covenant their primary God-directed missions was declared in part to be:
* "Embrace the vast Muslim world in our hearts, seeking from God the anointing, wisdom, power, and strategies needed to carry our part of His great plan of redemption for those under the influence of Islam"
* Believe God for the establishment of His kingdom throughout the world of peoples under the influence of Islam, and be more impressed with God than the difficulties involved.
According to the source - a long-time member of New Life Church where the second shooting took place - Murray had a falling out with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) after working with the organization a couple of years ago. He sent antagonistic and threatening correspondence afterward, CNN reported. (more)
He hated Christians.
From Webloggin:
UPDATE V: A New Life parishioner, who had volunteered for security duty and was not law enforcement, charged the gunman using her own weapon. The key words here are “her own weapon”. The pastor of the church said “the female security guard was a hero in preventing further bloodshed, rushing to confront the gunman just inside the church. “She probably saved over a hundred lives.”"I hope the gun-grabbers are reading this. This is just further proof that good guys with weapons are a good thing.
From Slapstick Politics, we don't know the religion of the shooter, he was home-schooled; two other male armed guards refused to shoot. See other updates here.

Ortho...I noticed that story about Lake Bluff...do you really see a connection?

A brief addition to my previous comment.
As most of us know, witnesses described the lone Colorado gunman as a white male, in his 20s, "wearing a dark jacket and a dark skullcap." The important part of the lone gunman's description is his apparel, "dark jacket" and "dark skullcap."
Yesterday, halfway across the U.S. from Colorado, in the town of Lake Bluff, Illinois, near Chicago, a gunman wearing the same apparel wounded two restaurant employees. Witnesses described the gunman "as a thin male black between the ages of 30 and 40 years of age. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and skullcap." Again, notice the apparel, "black jacket and skullcap."
I urge all readers of Right Truth to remain vigilant. There appears to be a group of black jacket and skullcap wearing individuals who are terrorizing the homeland.

Maybe the lone gunman wore a Kippah, to remind proselytizing, evangelical Christians that they are no more than members of a bastardized sect of the only true faith: Judaism.
Just sharing my "skull cap" theory for the sake of discussion.

Once you eliminate Free Republic as a "source" you're down to "skull cap" or "beanie" but it could have also been a tight fitting (or small) ski cap.
I'm out of this discussion.

We have located where this killer, using an alias, posted to an internet forum which details a specifically demented, sick, twisted cultish motivation for his actions. I concur that these murders have no Islamic basis. That he reportedly wore a skull cap of some type has been verified in several MSM broadcast and text reports.
In addition to the desire to murder, this killers agenda apparentkly was also to terrorize the members of that congregation. He was fully aware of the YWAM missionary agenda (Red Sea Covenant) as I noted a day ago. It is my assessment he may have used the skull cap as a premeditated part of the terrorizing aspect.

Sean Osborne, thank you for the update. I have found nothing to connect him to Muslims, other than the training center's mission was to minister to Muslims.
Stormwarning: Do a GOOGLE search for "
Matthew Murry, shooter, skull cap"
and you will see that ALL news reports have the eye-witnesses describing him as wearing a dark jacket and dark skull cap. ALL of the reports have this information included.
Posted by: Debbie | December 11, 2007 at 08:24 AM
All indications are that Matthew Murray 24, of Englewood, Colo., son of a Denver neurologist, was home-schooled in a deeply religious Christian household, and had been thrown out of Youth With a Mission a few years ago and had been sending the group hate mail according to the Associated Press.
He was said to have been quoted as saying, "You Christians brought this on yourselves," and "All I want to do is kill and injure as many of you as I can especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world."
There is no credible information of Murray "assuming Islamic-based implements.". I repeat..."no credible" suggestion of any connection to anything Islamic. Simply a "very disturbed young man."
Anyone have anything credible? I haven't even seen anything about a "skullcap" but that's an entirely different story.
Posted by: Stormwarning | December 11, 2007 at 06:27 AM
Debbie,
I have revised the assessment I made yesterday which was based upon the investigative details uncovered.
This killer was no Muslim. But I do believe he premeditatively used Islamic-based implements as a final, visual taunt against his victims.

I'm waiting for some liberal wingnut to try and make a legal case AGAINST the woman that shot the creep.
Greta will just be peeing all over herself when it happens.

Thanks for the great info, Debbie. I had not heard the skull cap description or his history. Very interesting indeed.

Even if their conclusions are correct (this time), NEIN is not considered a credible source (by many in the counterterrorism business). I, too, heard the reports that the shooter "hated Christians." That alone does not prove anything.
Posted by: Stormwarning | December 10, 2007 at 08:12 PM
Wonderful post Debbie!
The AP also quotes a source who claims that the lone gunman "hated Christians." I do not know if the shooting was the act of skull-cap wearing Jihadi. However, I bet the shooter read Christopher Hitchens's recent book God is Not Great and recent articles where he skewers religion. People like Hitchens who spew hatred toward believers must be stopped, or else more senseless attacks such as the two that took place in Colorado this past weekend will occur.
All of us, must work together, to put a stop to the vitriolic venom spewed by haters of religion like Christopher Hitchens!

Good work, Debbie - this was my 1st thought also -"Great. Another Malvo dude practicing jihad in his own way"

Hi Debbie. I jumped on this one yesterday too, and have attracted one Fadi, Jew-hating muslim type, blatting away with the usual utter lies and distortions in his comments. I sure wish they'd stop being so predictable.
The religious convictions of the shooter still haven't been revealed, but the circumstances are suspicious. Worth following.
