The Christmas packages have been opened, the food cleared away, the company has gone home and Christmas is over. Was it all you dreamed it would be? In most cases Christmas was BETTER than we could ever have imagined. But what about life? When you were a child you dreamed of what your life would be like when you grew up. If you are like most people, life was perfect in your childhood dreams. Now that we are mature adults, we see the situation without rose-colored glasses. The year 2007 has been quite a shock to many of us.
Who would have dreamed that Americans would be split down the middle as we are today? Who would have dreamed that some American media and some Americans would be against anything Christian, and yet bend over backwards for Islam (the source of our arch enemy)? Not me. Christians are under attack around the world, but let one school teacher in Somalia name a teddy bear Mohammad and it's "off with her head".
Bernie uses the example of a cute baby bear that looks harmless but grows up to be a man-eater:
Liberals think Muslims are just like Christians and no more dangerous. [snip]One day the bear will grow up and he won't be so cuddly and peaceful. One day there will be more than a few million Muslims in America and they won't be so cuddly and peaceful either. Countries, like Sweden, that have allowed too many Muslims in are now at war with their immigrants: 9 out of 10 of the most criminal ethnic groups in Sweden came from Muslim countries and the reason why they committed crimes? "When we are in the city and robbing we are waging a war, waging a war against the Swedes."
The Dutch are trying to put an end to Muslim immigration, Some states in Germany are making it difficult for new Muslim immigrants, France is on the brink of losing its European identity, etc. Every European country is trying to figure out how to get rid of its Muslims and yet here in America we still let them in. Are we that stupid? (more)
Well Bernie, apparently some Americans ARE that stupid. Francis W. Porretto picks up on Bernie's thought and comments:
One of the things liberals absolutely hate -- and I mean absolutely, in that nothing can salve the wound it causes them -- is admitting that they've been wrong. When you grant yourself the assumption of moral superiority, admitting that you've been wrong implies that you've assumed wrongfully -- that you're no better, and possibly much worse, than the people you've set yourself above. This causes the modern American left-liberal the most excruciating mental pain; he'll do anything, deny any bit of evidence, refuse to accept the verdict of his own eyes, rather than admit to error. God's on his side and he cannot be wrong.
(from The Midnight Sun who hat tipped Crusader Rabbit):
If the Middle East and chunks of the western world succumb to the Jihadists, the blame must lie squarely on the shoulders of the Marxists.Added to this problem is one of demographics.
… let us look at the nature of the threat. The existential threat hanging over us is not the terrorist one but the demographic one. All Muslims have to do now is to let time takes its course. How do we counter this threat, while all Muslims have to do is to be liberal, democratic, tolerant etc, and wait till the numbers alone dictate the implementation of shari’a in Western countries. How do we fight now when the only option left is to be undemocratic and illiberal. (Via Up Pompeii)
Illiberal. I like that word. Yeah, Islam's peaceful, Christianity is evil, and Tony Blair should have become a Muslim rather than a Catholic because Christianity is “regressive and Islam isn't." (Didn't dream that did you?)
Who would have dreamed that some Americans would turn against our brave military (again)? Not me. I thought that lesson was learned after Viet Nam. Who would have dreamed that making someone physically uncomfortable in order to gain valuable information that would save American lives -- would be called torture? At the same time, real torture chambers run by al-Qaeda terrorists somehow go unacknowledged by those same people.
America used to be Israel's greatest ally; however, I hear way too much anti-Israel talk coming from some corners of America -- and I don't like it one bit. Never saw this coming and I think we will live to regret putting restrictions on Israel.
Christmas greetings are on-topic, for Christmas is on the jihadists' to-do list of manifestations of jahiliyya -- un-Islamic ignorance -- to be eliminated once they get the chance. (Jihad Watch)
Arab Christians abandoned and patronized by everyone.
Dreams of sugarplum fairies, and a skinny Santa Clause who doesn't say Ho Ho Ho and lives in the snowy mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Didn't dream that one either, did you?
Some things don't change Saudis hate Jews. Simon's Law: "The politician who campaigns hardest on cleaning up corruption is the biggest crook." Did anyone dream that politicians would be so closed minded to the wishes of voters as they are today? Not me.
So we look at the world and the United States as it is, warts and all. Let's do all we can to make this next year not so scary and more like we see it in our dreams. Oh to be children again, innocent, and full of beautiful dreams.

Rastaman: I have to agree with you on Bush. He's been a disappointment when it comes to illegal aliens, immigration of Muslims, and much more. No argument here.

For some reasons your trackbacks are bouncing me pings. I wanted to let you know that my blogburst is up today.

Rastaman, I respectfully disagree. In fact I work with, and co-author with, one of them.

illiberal = logical
liberal = illogical
kind of the rule of inverse proportions tied to politics?

Stormwarning, your muslim friends are not your friends. They're pretending to be your friends. Good luck there.
It's not just liberals who have difficulty admitting error, it's just about everybody. The vast majority of us would rather lose an arm or leg than admit that we made a mistake or that we hold an erroneous opinion or point of view.
Christians complain as much or more than those of other religions about being persecuted. I've heard too many preachers rant on about persecution as if it were a badge of honor.
It's not the acknowledged liberals or the Democrats who are bringing more muslims into America, it's George Dubya Bush, the same guy who has flooded America with Mexicans and other Hispanics and wants to make the U.S., Canada and Mexico into one big N.A.U. There's your Liberal. Right there in the White House.
Now that he's set us well on the road to total disaster, the looming election is more fearsome than any ever before in my life. If we get a president and Congress that maintains our present course instead of reversing it, I think America will then soon fade into history.

Thanks for the input everyone and Faultline USA, I forgot about that article of yours. A great addition to this conversation and I should have included it. Excellent point.
No not all Muslims are bad or terrorists. The the problem is at the root of the religion itself.

Perhaps I was mistaken, but isn't this a time of peace, goodwill and understanding? Yes, Merry Christmas to All.
I know that I've gone through this before, and I also know that intelligent debate has occurred elsewhere about the differences between the jihadi interpretation of the Koran and the silent, ye religious Muslim interpretation of the Koran, but I think its time for people to understand that MY friends and associates who happen to Muslims and who practice their faith are neither jihadis nor "bad" Muslims (one person recently asserted that no "good" Muslim would associate with an "infidel," let alone a Jewish one). That position is pure poppycock.
In our cloistered World, many people know only what they read. Even an uneducated reading of the Koran (which I admit to never having read) does not reveal the "truths" of Islam. Even Robt. Spencer's well publicized and clearly slanted views of Islam do not make them right (or left).
Perhaps 2008 will be a year in which the masses of opinionate people come to the realization that there are in fact religious Muslims who practice their faith in silence...yes, silence because there's is not a political or politicized interpretation of their religion. No, we do not hear enough about peaceful Islam. Yes, the jihadis have taken control of what the masses believe is Islam. No, my Muslim friends are not "bad" Muslims.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Debbie. As for the Left, they have the luxury of being supremely ignorant, thanks to over 230 years of veterans who sacrificed to let them be supremely ignorant.
Long as we don't join them in their supreme ignorance, we will have a future.

Fantastic job, Debbie. I feel right in sync with you on all you've said here. Yes 2007 was a shocker of a year! It's becoming harder and harder to sit on the fence on anything. You're either hot or cold. The atrocities going on at a government level, the betrayals (of Israel and of the Conservative trust), the turnarounds, the abandonment of all that we've stood for, have been astounding. Those of us who don't intend to go with the PC flow will have to suck in our breath, dig in our heels and prepare ourselves for a tough battle. God help us and God help our countries.

Here, here. I am amazed at the level of raw hatred toward people whose only crime is to disagree with the people on the Left. Yet they do not want any murderer to punished by forfeiting his life for the life he has stolen. Imagine that, but they would just as soon like to see ours destroyed.
I don't know what makes a man so blind as to not be able to see the threat right in front of his face...

Debbie this is an excellent article. You have done a wonderful job in pulling together some great sources. Please forgive my rather lengthy comment.
It is very important for all Americans to note what Bernie wrote:
“One day the bear will grow up and he won't be so cuddly and peaceful. One day there will be more than a few million Muslims in America and they won't be so cuddly and peaceful either. . .”
Then Bernie asks the question that no American wants asked nor, “God forbid”, answered.
“Every European country is trying to figure out how to get rid of its Muslims and yet here in America we still let them in. Are we that stupid?”
No Bernie, we are not that stupid! We are about to face the greatest irony that America has ever faced because we are about to be enslaved and conquered by the very United States Constitution that was designed to set us free to worship as we please.
I hate to keep beating a dead horse but the answer is quite simple – the American Constitution MUST be amended.
Here’s a quote from “Why America Must define Religion”
http://faultlineusa.blogspot.com/2007/10/why-america-must-define-religion.html
“Does our American Constitution, which offers blanket and unquestioning protection of religious freedom, create the very means by which the destruction of American sovereignty can be accomplished? . . .
We must focus upon questioning the adequacy of our American Constitution (specifically the two clauses of the First Amendment concerning the relationship of government to religion: the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause).
How can it be unconstitutional for government to establish a religion when the constitution hasn’t even defined religion? And isn’t it important to define religion so as to determine whether something is a "religion" for Establishment Clause purposes? . . .”
Please read this quote from “Our Vulnerable Religious Freedoms”
http://faultlineusa.blogspot.com/2007/02/our-vulnerable-religious-freedoms.html
Read the words of Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun in the Lee v. Weisman ruling, 1992.
"When the government puts its imprimatur on a particular religion it conveys a message of exclusion to all those who do not adhere to the favored beliefs. A government cannot be premised on the belief that all persons are created equal when it asserts that God prefers some."
I submit that the corollary to Blackmun’s statement might go like this:
(1) When a government fails to define what constitutes a religion it conveys a message to all that any ideology can pass for religion, and that freedom of religious expression supersedes all other freedoms and overrules all duties of government – specifically the primary duty of government to protect its citizens from harm.
(2) When a government fails to define what constitutes a religion, any ideology with intent to destroy the very constitutional protections it enjoys can hide in plain view while actively undermining the very system of government that gives it protection.
