Pakistan was originally part of India, from which it was finally partitioned only after years of muslim terror attacks against Hindus and Sikhs. Islamic terrorism is its legacy and the foundation of its existence.

Every nation that becomes partioned into existence or is taken over by muslims becomes a dictatorship. Either ruled by a muslim king or by muslim priests. The exceptions to that are the muslim nations that are taken over by some iron-fisted warrior who cares less about Islam but gives it free rein, such as Saddam did in Iraq and Musharraf does in Pakistan.

Pakistan can never be a democracy. No Islamic nation can be a democracy, and the next one to prove that point will be Turkey. The best we can hope for with any of these countries is that they become governed by secular dictatorships.

Turkeys government has long been secular but this is changing and Turkey will soon be on the brink, just as Pakistan is now.

Pakistan and its large arsenal of atomic bombs is going to fall to the Islamic fundamentalists unless Musharraf stops his games and fully comes over to our side, but as long as he thinks he can keep riding the fence between us and the terrorists who now want to depose him, he will, with the result that the situation there will continue to degrade in the Islamists favor.
